"Our new favorite place!"
This was our first stay at this hotel. We had been in town last month and stayed somewhere else which we found pleasant, but which had no availability. Boy, are we glad that happened!! I am a widow with two young girls and we travel quite often. I have found many hotels (and restaurants) fall all over each other catering to men, but assume women with little kids may not be as generous. In our family we deeply appreciate good service and recompense same; both by way of gratuities and taking the time to write a well-deserved review when warranted. The room was magnificent, we asked for an upper floor with a view and received it. The doorman greeted my children and played with them during the entire trip when we went in or out. The concierge was helpful. The bellmen were tremendously kind and helpful. When called to please come get our bags they were there in 60 seconds. Check-in was smooth and we did express check-out by phone. The flowers and art gracing the property are beautiful and whimsical while remaining classy and traditional. The rooms are beautiful. The location was perfect. Very few places get it all right. They do and we thank them so much.

"It was only one night but I would come back."
We weren't there long. Early check-in. Hotel was clean and modern. Although we didn't eat there we did see a food tray and everything looked good. I would come back again.

"This hotel is great!"
If you are looking for a place that is close to the subway and main spots of Manhattan. This is the place to stay!! It is very affordable with many nice bistros and sidewalk cafes nearby. The rooms are small, but very clean and organized. We appreciated the fact that we had a free continental breakfast, wifi, and coffee every day which was an added bonus. Although the hotel lobby is under a remolding process during our stay, the staff was very helpful and added some extra perks like a complimentary free glass a wine and coffee. This is the 2nd time I have stayed at the Pod 51 and will stay again in a heartbeat!!! Great value and the rooftop deck is an added bonus!!! LOVE THIS PLACE!

"Great for the most part"
I do wish there was free Wi-Fi. Liam at the front was great, though not everyone was helpful. Some were very condescending. The bell hops were great too

"Close to citibikes and 2nd Ave."
Positive: Nice to get to swim in immaculate pool. Shared toilet and shower clean and always available. Security very diligent. Negative: Was charged extra $20 for extra night, and told I had to change rooms. Desk clerk used rationale convenient for hotel but not for guest. Clerk was even unapologetic and curt when she came to say I could keep the room and charge it to credit card that reserved it. All could've been done in one trip at the desk. No remote control for the t.v. Only one outlet close fridge & a/c, so I turned fridge to plug in diagonally across room. I did mention the lack of outlets to front desk right away. Poor access to subway.

"Excellent hotel right 5th Avenue"
From our arrival to the hotel to time of departure hotel staff was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable of the city, service oriented...we felt right at home in "New York" completely unexpected, considering N.Y.'s M.O...we loved it! A special thanks to Salim at the Front Desk who was AMAZING.

"Better than Expected!"
Went to Trivago to find a room never expecting it to be this nice. When we arrived we were given an upgrade which proved to be all and more than we would have wanted. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was super clean and 5 star in performance. The staff was very friendly and I can think of nothing to complain about.

Midtown East - Grand Central Hotels Guide

There are some train stations you visit to go somewhere else, and there are some train stations you visit to purposely linger. Grand Central Station in New York proudly falls into the latter category. While it’s certainly used for transportation from A to B, the sheer history and prestige of the building has turned the station into a site of its own. Since it opened its doors in 1871, Grand Central Station (formally called Grand Central Terminal) has been a world wonder. It’s still one of the most visited attractions in New York. As you walk through the building and admire the high ceilings and famous hanging American flag, it’s easy to feel the sense of hopeful Americana the station represents.
