“cute cheap place to stay”
ok this is a cheap hotel, not fancy but cute, it has a big pool, employees are nice. the room where i stayed did not have a fridge neither glasses but they have a kitchen close to the pool that you can use and bring food and leave it in the fridge and also glasses you can use also there is an outdoor stove you can use by the pool. ITs a cute place to stay, very clean. nice location close to lincon road
“Can't beat it for combination of location, price and quality: ignore the bad reviews”
Like a lot of other reviewers, I had read the bad reports about the hotel but figured I wouldn't be spending too long in my room and given the price and the location, decided to risk it. I am not doubting other people had a bad experience but I can only speak as I found the place and can't find a bad thing to say about it. If pushed I would say that it was a tad annoying at times when the car alarms in the carpark next door went off in the middle of the night but that is a minor quibble. I suspect the bad reviews may come from people used to staying in posh hotels. The rooms here are not luxury but are spacious, clean, do not smell or contain any vermin (contrary to what I had read before) and there was masses of storage space and an excellent safe. The receptionists to not come across as massively friendly but were incredibly helpful, especially when I wanted to have a late check out. They do claim to have an Olympic pool and I am not sure what they mean by this as obviously it is not Olympic-sized but is large enough to swim lengths in. Others have rightfully raved about the location, situated it is on Collins, very near the beach, bars, restaurants, shops etc. and I can second that. I have also read that people would not recommend the hotel to people with families or small children and can't really see why, unless it is because there is no restaurant at the hotel.
“excellent rapport qualite prix tres bien situe”

“Great budget hotel on South Beach”
The Tropics is a great budget hotel. After reading mixed reviews I wasn't too sure what to expect, however my room was clean and confortable, and the staff were helpful. The Tropics is well-priced for its central location, right on Collins Ave (walking distance from the beach, shops and bars) so for my budget it was a great find. The only downside to my stay there was the noise from the car park opposite, but otherwise it was a pleasant stay and I would go back again.
“Great location, decent hotel at a good price.”
If you want to stay somewhere that is very near South Beach (it's one block away), very near the Art Deco district (well you're pretty much in it), with easy access to restaurants, bars, mini markets & food 'on the go' then the Tropics Hotel is spot on. Location wise, you couldn't ask for more. As for the hotel, well it's perfectly good if you're on a bit of a budget and aren't too picky. It's always clean, just little tired looking. The staff are always polite, friendly and helpful. It's a $21 shuttle from the airport, $30+ cab ride and is somewhere I would happily stay again.
“TROPICS”
Whats best about the Tropics is: -price -beautiful pool -block from the beach -a lot of German and French guest Only negative because it is 2/4a hostel sometimes the collge age guets can get a little loud, but the front desk when called made them be quiet.
“Nice and convenient”
This hotel was everything the sites says it is. The location was great, short walk to all the activities on South Beach (the beach, stores, the clubs and restaurants). Lots of foreign young people and families on holiday but everyone was very nice and we had no problems with noise or anything. I would stay here again on my next visit to South Beach.
