“Best Miami Hotel”

I was in Miami for business for a couple of nights and I looked at so many hotels. All of the hotels had horrible reviews. I came across Essex House and they had the best reviews. It is a BEAUTIFUL hotel. It is in a great neighborhood and only on short block to the beach. The staff was extremely nice. I highly recommend to stay in the junior suites. Very Spacious. My main concern is always cleanliness and they definitely passed my test. I am planning another trip just for fun and I wouldn't stay anywhere else!!! The only one downside is that there wasn't a bell man or anyone to help me with my luggage. I stayed in the Junior Suites which has a separate entrance and I had to lug my very heavy suitcases up 3 flights of stairs by myself. I did not like that at all.

“Even Better than Last Year”

I stayed in this hotel last year while its sister hotel was under construction. This year I got a suite and the rooms were great and quiet. Definitely would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. My only complaint was the pool, which was nice, but it either isn't filtered enough or has too many chemicals because my skin and hair didn't care for it. Did some hotel hopping at another pool and didn't have the same issue, so I definitely think it was the Essex pool filtration system.

“Great Place for the money!”

The hotel is in a GREAT location and is nice for the money. Since it's older, you can hear through the walls a bit, but not too bad. I didn't care for the A/C in the room, it was constantly going on and off and was loud. The staff was VERY nice and helpful! The bed left a little to be desired, but I have a bad back so I'm kind of picky. I stayed for 5 days. Cannot beat the location for the money and compared to the look of some of the other places around, it was very nice. Only problem is the price of food on South Beach - EXPENSIVE!!! Watch out for the tipping - they automatically add on a 15-20% gratuity. So don't tip twice unless you mean to.

“Great Hotel, Perfect Location, Definitely will go back!”

Great hotel in the heart! 1 block from ocean drive, 1 block from Washington (also a main stretch w/tons of bars/clubs/restaurants). Hotel outdoor seating and bar area are nice and the breakfast above par! Loved the hotel room, we got the suite and it was amazing. You can sleep more people on the couches if you want. Huge king bed, huge bathroom, plasma tv, very spacious...super nice! Very impressed, will go there again for sure. Staff/service also great, will go back, definitely recommend.

“My SOBE Home”

I recently stayed at the Essex House (01/08) and have stayed there before. The Essex is spotless, comfortable, conveniently located, great service, sumptuous continental breakfast. This time we stayed in a suite which is the size of a small apartment, king-size bed, jacuzzi, marble bath. I recommend the Essex to ANYONE going to SOBE that needs a nice but not super-extravagent place to rest your head. I will always try to get into the Essex when going to SOBE which is a couple of times a year.

“Essex House, great place to stay prior to cruising”

Great Art Deco hotel in South Beach. Very well kept with most of the original details still in place. The lobby area has beautiful tile, original fireplace and desk area. Steps were original and there is a small elevator as well. There is a very nice outside veranda surrounding the entrance with couches, comfortable chairs and tables. This is adjacent to the bar and a few steps from the swimming pool.It was a comfortable area and well used day and night. The rooms are small, but comfortable and adequately furnished, beds were good. BRs small, but well equipped and clean, plenty of white fluffy towels. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and recommended a wonderful Cuban restaurant down the block. The location is great, a block from the ocean and in the heart of south beach. We took a walk at night, many designer shops in the area and lots of restaraunts and bars.Only a few miles from the pier, this was a perfect place to stay the night before our cruise. There was street noise and music playing in to the night, but this did not bother us.Lovely continental breakfast in the morning, free of charge. We would recommend this hotel to all of our friends who are young at heart, we know our twenty something kids would love it!

“Cozy and Comfortable in Miami”

I do not have any complaints about the Essex House Hotel. The service was excellent, the room was great, and the atmosphere was relaxing. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others travelling to Miami. Everyone is helpful and no matter what you want to do in Miami, the staff will guide you in the right direction. I would stay here again if I visited Miami in the future.

“Absolutely Fabulous Hotel”

One of the best hotels we've stayed in.Stayed at beginning of holiday and couldn't wait to go back for our last night. The staff are fab and soooooo friendly, never experienced anything like it.The prices are great, the breakfast is also brill, great continental selection. Location for beach, shops, great, nightlife, great. The staff just cannot do enough for you on every level of employment.Really made our holiday.Rooms were comfortable, could walk about in my bare feet which I don't always do. Rooms, beds, towels and bathroom clean. Criticisms - there have to be some.I had 3, not that any spoiled my holiday or would make me not go back. The carpets on the stairs could have done with a vacuum, however, the maid was probably too busy spending time running round after guests wasn't top priority, it will get done. 2, no fridge, but they got ice for you whenever you wanted it and brought it back to your room. 3, no tea/coffee machine, like my cuppa on wakening, however, they would bring a cup of hot water to the room no problem I had my indispensible T-bags packed, also breakfast provided hot tea etc.I honestly would recommend this hotel to everyone, when we went back at the end of the holiday we were welcomed like long lost buddies and made to feel so special on a very one to one personal level. This level of service I am afraid money cannot buy what people give from their hearts a very happy family, from the minute we stepped foot into the hotel until the minute we stepped out.

“Great for a girl's weekend!”

We stayed at Essex House for a bachelorette party and had a great time. You can't beat the location (the neighboring Clevelander is a must) and the price was right. There were only two areas in which we were disappointed: the rooms were a bit musty smelling and the noise from the ally made it difficult to sleep in. Other than that, this was a great boutique hotel. We would stay there again!
