“Cool”
The hotel experience was good, although I we couldn't check in early the condo suite was the same as the pictures, very nice. Hotel is still renovating i.e. painting and etc.

Didn't have a hair dryer, but when I requested one, they bought and brought me a new one right away. I had somebody in my room fixing my toilet without warning, that was a little unnerving -- a little better communication would have been nice, but all in all an ok experience.

looked old but seems they were doing some improvements, i.e. painting and plastering the corridors. some of the housekeeping staff didn't understand english and i don't speak spanish so communicating some of my needs was a bit frustrating. overall i would give it a thumbs up for a basic decent place to stay.
“Go for the oceanview room.”
Looked a little run down, but clean and under renovation and would recommend getting an ocean view room as it is right on the beach and away from the street noise. Great location if you want private access to Miami Beach and nice ocean view. Small terrace. Advertised as condos, but kitchen only had microwave, hotplate & refrigerator. No markets anywhere nearby, but bus stop across the street. Small mini mart/deli downstairs. Continental breakfast was hot food if you get there early. Don't recommend on site restaurant. No other restaurants nearby. Can recommend City & Boat Tour arranged by staff. Limited services at desk.
“Nice if you dont care for room service”
The hotel in general is nice. It is located on North Beach (not South Beach). The biggest issue we occurred would be the inconvenience of the housekeeping. They are not a full service facility (mainly because each room is individually rented out through private owners or companies). If we didn't remember to get towels before 5pm, we just didn't have towels till the next day. And when house keeping services your room, its really only emptying the trash and making up the bed. I wouldn't make this my first choice if you appreciate the full service amenities that most hotels give. If you can do without, then go for it.
“Consider What's Important to you Before Signing Up”
Design Suites is a much older, but grand Condo consisting of both owners and renters (being renovated). Not an issue except that the front desk is always busy and services limited. (No phone in the room). Cars MUST be valeted, so expect to spend time waiting there also. Parking is free for renters, but your guests staying longer than 15mins must pay. My room was clean and tended daily, but the oversized outside windows are filthy and takes away from the view. The plumbing is old and my shower/bath didn't drain properly and the toilet took at least 2 flushes. All in all, It's not a 3.5 hotel; however, my primary requirements were nearness to beach, pool access, a fitness center and turkish bath. All those amenities were available as promised and made up for it's other shortcomings for me-a single man. As a plus, other guests were very pleasant-although most were not American if that matters to you; it didn't to me! Consider what's important to you before signing up.
“Short stay at Miami beach”
for our purposes this hotel was OK, we read some reviews of the hotel, if you do so before booking most of the reviews are fair, the room itself was good, the hotel is shabby in parts but most of the staff are friendly enough. we booked at a good price so can,t complain too much, If you don't want to eat in the restaurant on site then its may take a while to get to another restaurant from this location
“Not a Happy News Years Eve”
This is not a hotel! This was a short term lease of someone else's condo. That might sounds grand to you, but there is no service! We arrived and picked up the keys from a security desk. And our room was filthy! Unlike a hotel that would promptly move you to another room or send staff right away with a phone call to the front desk (there was no reception in the room and the standard phone in the room was wireless but the internal battery was dead so we could not make any phone calls from the room) I cannot recommend this "hotel" and its is also more than the 30 minutes walk that google claims it to be from any real restaurants and South Beach. More like a $20 cab ride away. Spend the extra cash to stay near the fun end of the island.
