We stayed at the Thompson in July of 2015. Overall we were very happy with the hotel; it is nicer in person than the pictures show which is not always the case! The pools in particular are extremely well done and a great place to hang out. The rooms were well decorated and clean though the yellow carpet is a questionable choice for hiding dirt. I have two areas for improvement though. #1would be to provide some sort of free coffee. It doesn't have to be venti iced mocha double whipped fancy pants coffee, but *something* would be nice. We had to make a run every morning (call me cheap but we weren't about to call room service for coffee) which cut in to valuable pool/beach time. #2, it would be nice to be able to use the fridge. I know the Thompson is not the only hotel to do this, but I find it annoying they want to charge to empty the contents of the fridge such that it can be used. Other than that we had a great time. The Thompson is a bit removed from the "scene" which is both good and bad depending on what you are looking for; it still has an upbeat vibe and decently populated/fun if that makes sense. The beach itself (which is less a reflection of the Thompson and more just fyi) is a bit cloudier and has more seaweed than the more southern areas of SoBe. Overall Id recommend it if you want a laid back vacation, especially if the pools are more your thing than the beach.
The hotel features two indoor outdoor restaurants- two pools- a spa with six treatment rooms- a fitness center- 24 hour in …More
This was our first visit to Miami. The Royal Palm on South Beach surpassed our expectations. Janine was very helpful when some minor concerns were raised. Hyacinth ensured our room was serviced to a high standard. Harold (and his team) ensured that some items that were left behind in error were packaged and sent on to our next destination.
The only 'negatives ' would be the cost per day of the valet parking and the attitude portrayed by some of that team - less than helpful!
However, thank you you for making our short stay with you one that we shall remember!
We were checked in very fast, but not without a very courteous smile and all the info we needed to know in order to enjoy the hotel (spa, bar, neighbouring restaurants, etc). As we get to our room, we find its got 2 KING size beds, a sitting area and a walk in closet. You cannot beat that for the fantastic fare we paid and the quality the hotel gave us in return.
Price to quality relation, insuperable! Well done guys, we will certainly come back.
PS. You must stop at the bar and order a Fiona La Fleur (made with real orange blossom extract and almonds), Robbie, Zach, or any of the super nice chaps behind the bar will make you feel at home.
