"Very nice hotel right in the area we wanted to be "
Stayed Friday and Saturday night. No complications and no complaints. The staff were great and very helpful. They parked our car when we got there and used cabs while in town and they brought the car back quickly when we were ready to leave.

" Last minute find!"
I found this hotel in a frantic search for a room near Union Square and it was wonderful. My room was tiny but very clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating. I'll stay here again!

"We had a very nice stay at the G Hotel. "
The G Hotel was very lovely, the up-dated renovations didn't mask the charm of the older building. It was a relaxing stay.

"Great location, slightly shabby"
The location is excellent; short walking distance from much of what SF has to offer. The staff were helpful and professional. The room was small and a bit run-down, but expected for this price in SF in the summer. Example: peeling gold finish on bathroom cabinet knobs. The room had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and we slept well. Nice shower. The lobby was lovely.

"In expensive San Francisco Trip"
I was looking for a in expensive place to stay in San Francisco. I found the Tropics hotel and the pictures looked ok compared to other places. We arrived from the airport about 7:45pm, the first attendant could not find our reservation. The second person took over and had a hard time as well. While she was looking I notice my name written on a piece of paper, that looked like the check ins for the day. I had called a head to notify them of our arrive time (as it was after their normal check in times). She gave us the key card for the room and the room number, she then went on to other tasks, never giving us directions to the room. The room was clean and the bathroom looked to have been recently remodeled. There were 2 beds crammed into a small room, with no place to sit. It was difficult to get around the beds. The beds were not comfortable. Good thing it was for only 2 night. I'd recommend the place if price is very important! As it was clean and in the location I wanted, easy BART access and a 10 minute walk to Castro.

"Nice location"
The location of the hotel was great. Close to Union Square. Our room and bathroom were quite small. We only stayed one night and it was fine for us.

"Updated but not upgraded"
Basically just paint, carpeting, and furniture to make an old place look stylish, but it's still old, creaky, and noisy. Great location, with shopping and public transit right there.

"The location was excellent "
The location was excellent. A couple blocks from great shopping, restaurants and small diners, four blocks away from trolley. The staff was excellent very helpful and attentive. We first checked in to a standard king guest room and it was just to small and no place for storing clothes with exception of closet. The room was dated and crayon on wall and tub was dirty no shower. We had to upgrade to junior suite because we we staying for five nights. The junior suite was much better. Very clean had shower and separate tub and lots of room to move around. We were on 6th floor so it was a little noisy at night.

"Hip hotel with friendly helpful staff. "
The room was booked by Expedia & they were quick to say that I booked third party. Our room was right by the stairs. I felt the door didn't seal. The room above us were super loud. The maids made the kids' beds with my kids' stuffed animal. Very cute touch.
