Position: Fondachello Resort Residence is located at the foot of Etna, just 12 km from Taormina, in the Gulf of Riposto. The recently built three-story residence is just 50 meters from the promenade of Fondachello, with access to the wide beach of sand and pebbles. Its position allows to reach easily the most important tourist destinations of Sicily such us Taormina, Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples, Etna and Aeolian Islands. Useful information:

how to get by ship:: Messina at 70 km (transfer service on request);

how to get by train: Giarre Riposto at 5 km (transfer service on request);

how to get by car: Messina / Catania highway , exit Fiume Freddo at 3 km;

“Not ideal!!”

This hotel is in fact a small apartment - the room was not cleaned during our stay, and towels and sheets were not changed during the 5 days. That said, there is very little provided to qualify this as "self catering" other than a couple of glasses, a fridge, a pan and a few plates. No airconditioning is provided but there is a fan. The shower was very small and leaked. The hotel offers no real bar, shop, restaurant other than an ice-cream stand next to the pool. Local shopping and restaurants within walking distance are minimal - you need a car. There is a car park under the building but this flooded during our stay (we also received a large number of mosquito bites!) Hotel staff don't speak much English, there are limited times for check in. If you are arriving between 1pm-4pm or after 8pm call in advance to ensure that someone is there to provide you with your keys. Make sure that you confirm your room type, as our twin room was changed for a double room with no chance of any additional bedding on the first night. The hotel provides an enetertainment programme for adults and kids throughout the day, and in to the night - this also involves loud music being played in front of the hotel in the evening, sometimes as late as 1am. The most disappointing fact was that the pool closed between the hours of 1pm and 4pm every day. There is a beach a short walk away which remains open, however the beach is very rocky and the incline to the water is very steep.
