“A disappointing affair”

We stayed at the Castello di San Marco for just two nights because it was rather expensive, but we had high hopes. However, with the exception of the setting and the pool area, the hotel was very disappointing. On arrival, we were told there was no one to take our luggage to our room, so we'd have to do it ourselves or wait an hour. With a couple of friendly exceptions, staff acted as though it was a chore to serve us and indeed barely even wanted to acknowledge our presence, despite fawning over other, older guests. Our dinner reservation was misplaced. Dinner was laughably bad; breakfast just bad. The shower did not work properly, not did the lock on the room door. The rooms are not in the castle, but are more like chalets in the grounds: pretty enough, though. Towels were not regularly replaced at the poolside. Need I go on?
