“It is a lovely experience--far more than just a hotel. Great staff, wonderful food and elegant too!”
My review is above.
“A FEAST FOR THE SENSES”
I cannot find adequate words to describe how delighted I was with this family-run small boutique hotel. The location is perfect, on a safe, quiet cul de sac, yet within walking distance to both historical buildings and shopping. This restored mansion is a feast for the eyes, tastefully decorated with great attention to detail: artisan crafts, plants, wall murals, parrots in cages, beautiful traditional hand-carved furnishings, and lovely hand-painted tiles are among the multitude of visual delights. The gift shop sells high-quality crafts at reasonable prices. The restaurant serves exceptionally delicious and fresh food to please every palate, including large variety of toothsome baked goods prepared righton the premises. The proprietress is a lovely, welcoming woman who is frequently on hand to chat with quests and keep things running smoothly. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful, offering to help set up my bus tour to Chichen Itza with a reliable and reasonably priced tour company. The waiters are happy to answer questioins about menu selections and take great pride in their work. The WIFI worked consistently well throughout the hotel. Casa de San Angel is an experience not to be missed!
“finding a home in Merida”
Great place to stay, warm and friendly, outstanding service and great restaurant. I have the habit, of asking employees of hotels ( when i travel outside the country), how they are treated by their employers, and i did, i asked 3 of them, and their response was all the same, FANTASTIC, they love the owner, and after meeting her, you knew why. Travel to friendly Merida, and visit everything they have to offer, trust me its worth it., take it from me, i travel quite a bit, and there is nothing like the hospitality of southern Mexico.
“CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK!”
I HAD EXPECTATIONS BUT CASA SAN ANGEL SURPASSED THAT AND EVEN ENHANCED MY STAY IN MERIDA. THE PEOPLE ARE KIND AND GENTLE, THE CITY IS TRANQUIL, CLEAN AND PRICES ARE REASONABLE. THE STAFF AND HOSTS ARE VERY CONSIDERATE AND MAKE SURE GUESTS HAVE EVERYTHING NEEDED AND DESIRED. AMAZING! ADDED ARE THE BOUTIQUE, SCRUMPTIOUS DINING EXPERIENCE AND THE DECOR IS VERY BEAUTIFUL. VERY PERSONALIZED SERVICE MADE ME FEEL PART OF A VERY LOVELY FAMILY. STAY THERE!
“Great alternative to transnational hotels on Montejo”
Great hotel, close to everything in the centro. Very quiet and nicely furnished accommodations. Would definitely stay there again.
“A perfect place to stay in Merida”
Great location, great hotel, great staff, great everything. One of the best lodging experiences I have ever had. I honestly cannot think of one thing that needed improving.
“Great Hotel”
This is a beautiful family run hotel and is just excellent. We haven't sleep that soundly at any hotel. The staff are friendly and very helpful and the restaurant provides good quality food and great service. They also have a couple of parrots and cats that add to the cosy atmosphere. Would suit couples - the no kids rules was great...for us at least.
“Beautiful Decor”
Its a beautiful setting. The sunlight coming into the guest room enhanced the fabulous colour and design of the decoration and architecture. The tropical plants and natural sound of birds gives a wonderful sense of life to guests. All the staff were helpful and attentive to us, with good helpful tourist advice. All the facilities were high standard. We ate several times at the hotels restaurant and felt at home throughout our stay. Our only drawback was no way to prevent mosquitos, As the setting of each room was very much open-air we encountered this problem, but not sure if the hotel can do anything about it. So our advice is take a good strong repellent if you want to stay unbitten when the insects are abundant.
“terrific location”
Lovely h otel in a terrific location. The room was spotless, however the beds were very hard and narrow for a twin size. The staff were wonderful and ready to suggest places to see and help in getting around town. The restaurant was excellent as well as the staff. I would definately stay again. Hopefully a room with a larger bed would be more comfortable.
