“PERFECT”
We cannot overstate how incredible this hotel was. The service was over the top incredible. The room and bed were first class. The included breakfast every morning was plentiful and well done. Staff, cleanliness, everything was 5 stars. We will be back many times in the future.
“Charming hotel in a great location”
We loved everything about the River Inn, from it safe, residential location next to the Mississippi to the on-street parking right out the door to the fabulous breakfasts. Upon checking in we were offered champagne and then charmed greatly by the cozy library that occupied what would normally be the elevator landing on our floor.
“The reviews do it credit”
Spent one week at the hotel on honeymoon and did manage to get out of the hotel! To be honest if we were stuck there it would still have been fine. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food, including the restaurant in the evening was 5+ stars and even the Mayor of Memphis (who we met) eats there, so has to be good. The hotel is in a newly developed area with wonderful houses and apartments. Shops nearby inc. take aways, Casual resturant, Pizzeria, grocery store and deli. The hotel is about 2 miles from the main party area so advise taxi - $12 each way. Gracelands is a little further out about $30 each way. Shopping Mall about $25 each way if you want clothes. Memphis is a great location and not just for Elvis fans, if you love music you have to go.
“Worth it”
Mud Island doesn't sound very inviting, but it is. Quiet and beautiful with a nice riverfront park. The service at the River Inn is great and the staff very friendly. The fine dining restaurant, Currents, is superb and 20 feet off the lobby. Small with none of the bustle of a big downtown hotel and close to all downtown attractions.
“very safe”
This hotel is on its own peninsula, separate from but a five-minute drive to downtown. The room was lovely and the staff was very pleasant. The complimentary breakfast was delicious!!
“A Memphis Delight”
A wonderful experience from arrival to departure. We stayed two nights and wished that it could have been longer. We received a very warm welcome, which included a glass of champagne. Our room was a nice size and included all usual amenities. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was effective. The breakfasts were out of this world. There is an extensive menu and it is cooked to order so it is always fresh. Portions were good. There are two options for dinner. The more formal option is in Currents restaurant and the casual option is in Tugs, which is located across the street and is in a bar setting. We ate in Tugs on both nights and found the food to be excellent. There is a wide choice from burgers to steaks. Unfortunately, we were unable to try out the hotel's rooftop bar, which overlooks the Mississippi, as the weather was awful for the whole of our stay. Overall, we were very impressed by the standards of the hotel, which we found to be way above the levels provided by any of the big name groups and we would most definitely stay there again if we ever return to Memphis. For those who like to excercise, there are plenty of green areas for walking by the river.
“Great place to stay”
Loved it. Comfortable room. Professional staff. Lots of extras. Watched the sun set over the Mississippi river every night.
“Outstanding Location! Great Hotel!”
I booked this hotel as an alternative to the Peabody after reading the reviews and wasn't diappointed! The rooms were super. We booked a deluxe room as it looked larger than the standard. The only issue we had was with parking. It's plentiful, but we really wern't sure we were parked in the right spot until we spoke to the concierge. Check-in was fast and very pleasant. We were offered a glass of wine or champagne which was a surprise. The hotel rooms were located across the street from check-in and are in a very nice building. The hotel also has both fine dining and a casual grill. We tried the dining room and found the food was excellent. We had breakfast both days (included in our room price) and it was great! Pancakes, fresh fruit, porridge, the works. There is also a rooftop terrace which we didn't try, but was quite inviting. The location is on Mud Island and is very quiet. The only issue we had was with the air conditioner which is quite powerful. We found that we were abel to turn it off and open the window. We were on the third floor. Even with the window open, the area was very quiet. Overall, we would heartily recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again if we can make it to Mephis.
“An oasis in downtown Memphis”
A boutique hotel where they call you by name, greet you with a glass of champagne or wine, have a roof terrace on the top floor which has the view of the Mississippi River and the waterfront park, and a piano player at the lobby bar. The famous Paulette's Restaurant moved to the hotel about a year ago and makes the hotel a destination food location.
“Didn't stay long enough!”
This hotel was beyond our expectations. If you are looking for something in Memphis that gets you out of downtown, this is the place to go. The personal service you get here is just such a step up from anything we have experienced before. It is in a beautiful setting on the river with beautiful views; luxurious furnishing and bedding. We will definatly stay there again, the next time we are in Memphis.
