“all good”
great location and new shops all around. $5.00 to purchase a locker is a bit steep. we arrived at 12.00 not able to get into room until 2 but charged for 5 hours. what happened to storing the bags free of charge. a pleasant stay and pleasantly surprised on the update. would definately will return.
“Will Stay Again”
We chose the hotel based on a combination of price, location and basic features - while an old building, the foyer has been refurbed pretty nicely. The lifts and rooms themselves are still quite old but in nice condition, bathrooms redone and everything works, nothing's repellant. All your normal features for this type of hotel - TV, desk, internet, table, couches, etc. Very comfortable, housekeeping was great. Location is brilliant. Will stay again.
“Great Central Location”
Top service and ideally located right in the city centre within immediate vicinity of all the stores etc. The hotel is very quiet and the staff are excellent. Great value for it's location.
“Best Value in Melbourne”
You can't beat the location. All of the the rooms I saw are refurbished. The "superior" room is bigger, but I would save the dollars -- the larger the room the less efficiently the air con/heating works IMHO. Only hiccups - airconditioning not working in room (but staff soon moved me) and television wasn't working when I arrived (hint = turn off at wall for a minute and turn back on again)--but even then two channels didn't have sound. Not that I watch tv but I always check that it works cos it's a measure to ME how well staff check things. Views - don't expect them. Front desk efficient. Hotel lockers for baggage AUD5 for the day. Breakfast okay if included but it's pretty substandard for AUD17.
“Anyone's Unbeatable Hotel”
Staying at the 125 year old Victoria Hotel made our three-day Melbourne visit ever so much more enjoyable. The Victoria definitely possesses both class and character with its central location allowing easy access to all our planned activities. Whenever we senior citizens went out, we knew we weren't far from our temporary home. Although Room #2103 appears a recent addition, it is tastefully integrated into the historical hotel recommended by TripAdvisor.com for its appropriate golden atmosphere. Indeed, the Victoria was instrumental in making our first trip to Australia so memorable; without question it will definitely again be our hotel choice on our next trip. Front desk service was exceptionally helpful from arrival to departure. A bag with valuables, too stupidly forgotten at late night registration, was quickly recovered, immensely helping to provide a restful sleep. Hours later the early wake up call for a Great Ocean Road tour allowed us to have an unforgettable experience that became the highlight of our entire Australian visit. We would especially like to praise Nick whose front desk friendliness and advice was much appreciated throughout our stay. When the aiirport shuttle arrived early at our departure, Nick still managed our stored bags smoothly and timely. Assistance with a difficult shower glass door was immediately corrected. Each day the maid(s) thoughtfully remembered to leave 'cookies' with our coffee, providing extra much appreciated warmth.
“A great hotel at a great price, we'll be back”
The Victoria Hotel is in an amazing spot in Little Collins St near all shops and cafes. We had the pleasure of listening to a gifted performer on the Mezzanine Grand Piano named Natalie and she brightened our stay even further. The room that we had was recently refurbished and was of a high standard. The one slight downside for me, was the smell of cigarette smoke in the corridors near the lifts
“A great place to stay”
Located on a quite street, but in the heart of the city, this hotel had everything you could need for a few night stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. With the price I paid I didn't expect much and was very pleasantly suprised.
“Great Location”
The hotel is going through a renovation. I was luck to have one of the new rooms. While it was small it was extreemly modern. The staff were great and the atmosphere was terrific. Highly recommend but make sure you get a new room.
“A prize at the end of the maze”
Although it looked a little dated and the pathway to the room was like a maze, the rooms were spotless, modern and all comforts covered. The staff were friendly and always keen to help.
“Great well positioned hotel”
good hotel with character. Lt Collins Street is close to cafes/restaurants/bars and shopping.
