“"LOVED IT!!!”
Great location if you like to use public transportation?across street from tram that runs frequently. Great views from upper level rooms. Room was immaculate! Bedding SOO comfy!!!
“Great Value”
We spent a long weekend in Melbourne, the Blackmans was a great hotel choice, location, staff, cafe's and room were all of a really high standard. It was the cleanest hotel I have stayed in for quite some time, well appointed and the best bed & pillows. I will - have recommended this hotel and will stay there again on our next return visit.
“Beautifu, artsy, contemporary boutique hotel”
The hotel was very nice, very clean and contemporary. There are 2 restaurants on site- one french and one italian. The french restaurant was very good, we never ate at the italian one. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We had our daughter and had two queen beds. The layout for the two queen rooms was interesting- the bathroom was in the middle of the room so it separated our bed area from hers and her bed even had a curtain to pull around it. Also, there were flat screen tv's mounted on the wall in front of both beds. The room had a spacious balcony and lots of closet and drawer space. I highly recommend this hotel. The only draw back is that it is off the beaten path so you must take the tram to the populated tourist spots. However, it is a very short tram ride to Prahran and Federation Square and there is a tram stop less than a 5 min walk from the hotel. The hotel is in a business district so there are limited food choices in the area, but there are some.
“Stylish hotel.”
Loved this hotel, quick easy check in & out & very friendly staff. Bedroom was excellent, good size, beautiful trendy decor. Beds very comfortable. Bathroom small but sufficient for two, no tub. A little far from the city center, but easy to access via the tram. St Kilda beach is beautiful & also easy to get to via tram. The Fleur Depot De Pain Cafe, is a nice friendly place for beautiful pastries & a coffee. The Classico, Italian restaurant, is small, not very intimate & a little expensive & the staff weren't very friendly on both occasions we were there. Overall tho I loved the hotel.
“So cozy and so convenient”
Gorgeous decor, everything you need to hand. what more could you want. The staff at check in and check out were friendly and helpful and the downstairs cafe was great for a tasty breakfast.
“Very Comfortable”
Very comfortable well appointed room. The bed and pillows were exceptional for a good nights sleep. A well equipped kitchenette for a short stay. The sound proofing to the room was not so good and there was some noise transfer from the corridor but this was not a problem as this was only early in the evening so did not disturb our sleep. Staff were very friendly and professional. We ate in both of the eating establishments on the premises and the quality of the food was very good. The portions in Classico were on the small side. The location close to the tram stops was convenient for access to the city. Two suggestions, one, the lighting at night in the room is too low to be able to read comforably, while this may be eco friendly it is restrictive, two, it would be helpful if the hotel had some tourist guides readily available. We wanted to drive to the Mornington Peninsula but were advised that they had run out of the brochures for this. These were just minor points, overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.
“Fantastic Family Holiday, Will be Doing It Again Next Year”
First family trip to Melbourne and loved every minute. The Blackman surpassed all expectations. Stayed in a Deluxe Twin Studio Suite with a great view from 14th floor. Modern, clean and good size room, very comfortable beds, 2 large TV’s and art/decor made it an extremely pleasant and uplifting room to stay. Ate out most nights but Kitchenette and large fridge was perfect for breakfast and lunches. Staff were very friendly, always helpful and made my two young boys feel very welcome. Perfect location just out from the CBD with lovely parks across St Kilda Rd and easy access to CBD, St Kilda, Prahran, South Yarra by tram. Just a couple minor gripes was the lack of lock on bathroom and a few times we had to ask for more towels and/or milk, tea and coffee as these were not always replaced when the room was serviced. Overall though The Blackman far surpasses any hotel we have stayed and will definitely be going back next year and for a week longer.
“Very stylish hotel”
The hotel is very stylish and modern and what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. Location was great - right between the CBd, chapel st and st kilda. Walking it was half an hour otherwise every tran went into flinders st station which took about 5 mins. The cafe at the bottom of the hotel was also good and popular for breakfast. I would stay here again. The only small issue was that the hotel has no pool on site but there is one available elsewhere for guests.
“The only place we will ever stay in Melbourne!”
We could not fault this hotel. No detail was overlooked. Staff were extremely efficient and friendly. They made us feel at home, and the service was impeccable. The location on St Kilda Rd is extremely convenient to the city centre as well as to St Kilda, Albert Park, and South Yarra Toorak shopping precincts. We absolutely loved the decor, the beds were so comfy, and the TV with a welcome message when we walked in the room just topped it off! All the facilities were clean, and room upkeep was impeccable. We used the gym each day, and enjoyed our breakfast in Depot de Pain downstairs. In all we could not more highly recommend this hotel!
“simply amazing”
Our first "Boutique" hotel and I was a little worried, had no need to be whatsoever! All the staff we dealt with were perfectly cheerful and helpful. The hotel interior is beautiful as was the set out of the room. I had read comments about the bed and pillows but words do no them no justice, I will have to go with the cliche of sleeping on clouds. The convenience of the tram stop that goes into the city, St Kilda road and shopping districts is great and Depot de Pain downstairs was great for a convenient coffee and my French boyfriend was impressed by the pastries. I have found my new Melbourne hotel!
