Named for a settlement of wagon mechanics in the early 1800s, the town grew in part because of its link to the Pennsylvania Railroad. The Mechanicsburg Museum Association preserves historic railroad sites like the Stationmaster’s House and Passenger Station, along with the town’s oldest building, Frankeberger Tavern. Jubilee Day, the East Coast’s largest one-day street fair, takes place each June.
