“Howard Johnson and it's Surrounding...a place to enjoy”

I definitely enjoyed my stayed here, not only was the staff very cordial they were also very attentive to one's need. The Hotel is located right by the plaza so we got to enjoy the night scenery at the plaza like Trios playing typical puertorican music, men playing dominoes, we got to do some shopping and also taste some delicious traditional food.

“Great Hotel!”

The staff at Howard Johnson Downtown Mayaguez is friendly and very attentive. The front desk attendant (Waldemar) took care of all our additional requests within a reasonable amount of time, and the staff at the cafe made delicious food and drinks, and they had great personalities and friendly attitudes. The rooms vary in decor and size (we had 2 rooms), and they are very clean and comfortable. One of the rooms had a balcony facing the church, and we saw all the Christmas lights in the plaza from our balcony! We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and we recommend staying at the Howard Johnson in Mayaguez if anyone is traveling to Puerto Rico. We will definitely stay there again!

“downtown mayaguez”

this beautiful open walled hotel used to be a convent attached to the massive church directly across the street. apparently the nuns required waking every 3 hours by the huge bell that still rings all day and all night long. our room was quite small with a decent sized bed, 1 television table and 1 armoire although everything was elegant style light wood. there is a view of the plaza de colon from the upper floors which is quite beautiful at night. while the hotel staff where extremely helpful and fluent in english, the town of mayaguez is not ready for the casual vacationer and you will certainly need to do some driving for good beaches and scenic mountainscape. great weather though.

“Second time around & raring to return!”

This was our second mini-vacation/getaway at HoJo Downtown Mayagüez and it has been the best yet. This time, we got a room on the third floor of the new building. It was a corner room with windows that overlooked the surrounding streets and allowed us to look far into the mountainside of the town. The amenities were the same as before, but the bathroom in this one was roomier and more modern than the one in the room we had stayed at before (located in the main/traditional building.) Front Desk, Housekeeping, Food Service, and Parking staff were, as before, extremely helpful and very pleasant. We are already looking forward to planning our third visit and can't wait to be back!

“Little gem”

Really nice very pretty hotel close to town centre. Dont be put off by plain exterior. Once inside the cloistered walkways we just found it delightful. No complaints about anything.
