A beautiful beach and great options for pools, especially loved Plantation Club where afternoon tea is a must. The Edgewater Restaurant is excellent and Bar Bleu good for casual meals though options limited. The spa treatments were great.

My partner and I stayed at the Outrigger Beach Resort from mid-late January. Overall we enjoyed our time both in Mauritius and at the hotel, but there are a few things I think it is important to note about the hotel if you’re planning on staying there. 1. It didn’t feel 5* to us. Possibly when it was newly constructed it might’ve passed as one but many areas are in need of renovation and updates - from the tired rooms and bathrooms to the lobby and guest toilets. Lower your expectations before arriving. 2. It is expensive! I believe this might just be a Mauritius thing in general and not just this hotel but something to be mindful of. Food and drink aren’t cheap and more expensive than the UK. For example a soft drink (e.g. Coca Cola) is around £3.50 - £4 for a small glass. Plan extra spending money, even if you’re on an all inclusive package (there are extra charges for quite a few meals/drinks). 3. The food and drinks aren’t 5* quality. The buffet is okay, lots of choice and some good dishes but can be hit and miss and repetitive. Not worth the money in our opinion but choices outside the hotel are limited from what we could tell, although we didn’t explore the local area much due to rainy weather conditions. 4. Pack a LOT of suncream, and when you think you’ve got enough pack some more. You can buy it from the hotel shop but it will set you back £35 . 5. The beach and pool area are genuinely the best part of this hotel. If you like snorkelling you’ll be just fine with

Overall it was a good stay. Breakfast was good, dinner had some really good tasting options and some not so good. If I had to change one thing it would ne for the walkways to be concrete instead of sand. The walkways would get muddy and also it means you always got sand in your shoes even when dressing up for dinner.

What a beautiful resort with top notch, friendly service, unbeatable food, excellent activities and facilities, and an incredible beach. We were taken the best care of by the staff, and especially Kunal from the Plantation Club who went out of his way to make our stay memorable, including making custom and delicious cocktails for us, and Vashil from Mercado. Great hotel with friendly staff
A lovely hotel. Can walk along the beach or stay at one of the pools. The food is excellent and caters for many tastes. Water is clear and good for snorkelling. Some free water sports including paddle boarding. Glass bottom boat runs twice daily - be sure to book by 9am though. The staff throughout the hotel are so very friendly and helpful. Robbie at concierge offers great advice for tours to take, Megha and Arvesh at reception very helpful, Yan and lots of staff at Mercado and Bar Bleu are great! Close to Heritage golf club if you like a game of golf! Short ride to Heritage Nature Reserve for some quad biking or buggy through the reserve to see the country and red deer, wild boar and swim in the waterfall pool.

Staff doesn't understand instructions. We had booked using two websites for three nights, and same was conveyed at reception. Staff still came to our room asking us to check out after first night. Usually any 5 star hotel reception will call and ask if we are ready to check out instead of directly sending people to force us, and this is when we had already extended our stay. You will have to beg them for free water and until you don't finish the existing stock , you won't get new water bottle. There is zero flexibility in check out time, you have to pay MUR 2000 if you check out after 12. Very hard to get food , as everything has to be preordered the previous day or you have to go for Buffet

Excellent location , friendly staff, lovely room with fab view from our terrace. Lovely buffet breakfast but found the menu in Edgewater and the Rum and Crab Shack in need of improvement. Lovely touch of daily delivery of bottled water. Lots of amenities to suit most taste.

Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort
A great Resort for a perfect vacation. Stayed for 6 nights at the Junior Suite. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Got a 50% discount voucher at the Spa which was a good surprise. The Beach is extremely clean. Breakfast was a pretty decent layout with options of Indian, Asian and Continental / European. The Guest Relations was very helpful in giving and helping decide the recreational options for us. The Resort is conveniently located - 45 mins drive from the Airport. The only drawback I felt was that the rooms do not have foot-mats to wipe off the feet and footwear before entering the room which just makes the room a little too sandy.

It was heaven! Such a lovely hotel. The best food we ate in Mauritius. Wonderful staff, particularly the chefs who were so accommodating with our dietary requirements. Constant cleaning and maintenance of the property is done very discretely. I’d highly recommend doing half board as the buffet is incredibly extensive and delicious. Brilliant kids club, and overall such a welcoming and accommodating place to take young children. Would love to return!

Lower than I would expect for 5* resort
First of all I contacted hotel.com to inform the hotel about my late reservation, upon arrival the room was not ready, it was ready around 2:40pm. Drinks &towels were offered upon arrival and one of the staff gives information about the resort. The room is well-equebed but outdated. Old furniture and stained curtins, toilet door without lock, but overall clean. The room that was offered in first floor with a view at a family pool and setting beach area. The A.C. was good, electricity was off couple of times for few second.. Room service is slow for a 5* resort and sometimes no one answer the call!! The wayer bottles that were offered has to be consumed to be replaced with new one!! Guest should have the right to drink the bottle of waters any time. Breakfast was excellent. First day tea was served cold and I had to call to be replaced. But in general was the best about the resort. The setting area at the beach is small next to family poor compard to the number of guests. The hotel agree to allow 10m late check out so this is highly appreciated.

I was very disappointed with the housekeeping and cleaning on the first couple of days at the resort. I must say that this was addressed when I raised the issue and then new housekeeping staff, Dixsha & Avisha took over and that improved. The staff at this resort collectively are excellent, friendly and very responsive. My family & I are avid travelers and have been to dozens of hotels all over the world and the staff at the Outrigger are the quickest to respond to any request that we have ever come across. Better for families than for couples
This is a resort, so one enters the property, which includes restaurants, a beach and villas spread out across the property. The villas look a little in need of maintenance (despite my understanding that the property only dates from 2014!), and things like dirty plates were left outside on the property for extended periods. It seemed to us that the target market here was families with children (which we don't have), so the pool/beach area was a little bit louder than we would have liked. It was also nearly impossible to get bookings on property. The restaurants and "free water activities" (glass bottom boat and snorkelling) were also fully booked - i think families arrive for a week, and just book everything up. Having said all this, we did find a quiet beach area, and it is a beautiful place. We wouldn't stay again, but can see it might be nice if you are coming for a week as a family

Stunning resort and impressive rooms
The resort is in a stunning location and absolutely huge. This is probably the best place I've ever stayed in. The beach is absolutely beautiful and the colour of the sky and sea are stunning. Water sports such as kayaking, pedaoles etc are free. Kayaking above the corals and watching the fishes beoow was so peaceful and relaxing. The room was large and spacious with a very big round bath that fits two. We went room only so had to pay for our food which was very expensive. The buffet was £40 a head and not that great. I would suggest if you can go half or full board as there isn't any restaurants around unless you drive. There's a small shop about 5/ 10 minute walk away.

Mediocre stay for a 5-Star hotel
Pros: Great beach location but the weather in the south is always a bit cooler than the north so we did not get to take advantage of all the water sports that were offered for free. However, we did manage to go snorkeling on a windy day. The team at the water sport club was amazing especially Deepak who took care of us on the boat. Dinner at the Plantation was amazing! One of our best meals we had on the island. Cons: The WiFi connection is a bit unstable. It goes on and off anywhere you go in the hotel. Strange concept of not having a central concierge to assist you with restaurant and spa booking. It was a bit confusing having to walk over to Bar Bleu to book dinner reservations at other restaurants but only to be told that Crab Shack was fully booked for the next few days. And massages were fully booked as well. These were a few of the reasons why we chose to stay at outrigger over other resorts in the area so we were a bit disappointed about that. Note to book ahead prior to arriving to the hotel. But for people like us who are not very good at planning ahead, we would stay at other resorts the next time we come back that suits our style more.

We try to keep the restaurant and booking as flexible as we can and unfortunately cannot always offer tables. For the concierge due to the size of the resort and location of the lobby we made it easier and do not have any problem with having the F&B concierge at the bar which is more central. A beautiful location, excellent for relaxing.
A well-placed hotel, relatively easy to get to from the airport, close to a National park, and Chamarel and its attractions. Highly recommended also for just relaxing- Overall quiet, ample well-groomed grounds. Mercado restaurant is very good and offers something for every taste. Restaurants close relatively early at night, which is to be expected at a resort. Lovely clean and well maintained beach with an area for water activities. Cordoned safe areas for children, some water activities are included, and eagle-eyed staff ensure you don't stray into dangerous areas. The rooms are substantial, and very comfortable, good airconditioning, bottled water included, with nice creative welcome touches. Gym, spa and tennis courts. Highly recommended.

Very nice looking resort if a bit dated, in the nicest part of Mauritius. The water was crystal clear and the snorkeling not so bad either. Service in the edgewater restaurant was a shambles. Lots a staff but none of them seemed to know what they were doing or how to do it. Orders were usually late or wrong. There seemed to be no one in charge there. We had booked a bnb rate but were upsold an 'upgrade' upon check in. We were quoted a rate of 1600r 'per person' for this for three nights. I was careful to repeat this back to the receptionist '1600 per person, correct?, I also mentioned that we planned to eat outside the resort on at least one of the nights but as it was 1600 total it still represented good value for three nights. None of the restaurants had any availability except the buffet which was annoying and not really what we had in mind for eating every night. Later we also found out that that the the rate the hotel intended to charge us was 1600 per person per night which is very different and not what what was stated on check in. I asked the Manager to be informed and to rectify the issue. I was told to call back to reception later that day where I was informed the Manager had decided the hotel was going to charge us the 1600 per person per night. The Manager did not put in an appearance to discuss with us or explain. This was very disappointing on all fronts and not what you would expect of an outrigger resort with this star rating.
