“pleasant stay”
nice room, nice pool, food and drinks really overpriced even for a nice hotel
“Solo traveler staying at Ritz Kapalua”
I stayed at the Ritz Kapalua as a single traveler vacationing in Maui the last week of August 2010. I have to say the location is awesome for the solo traveler as I didn't see or encounter a lot of annoying children and the resort itself never felt busy. The pool and beach was great too! The best part was the Honolua General Store that is within walking distance. Being a solo traveler, I was able to grab a great breakfast or lunch to go from the Honolua and take it back to my room. For dinner, I drove a short distance to the next town (Napili or Lahaina) and ordered take-out pizza or something quick from places like Mama's Ribs or Maui Taco's. The only negative part of my stay (and it's pretty minor) was the bed in my room. It was sort of lumpy and lop-sided so by the end of my stay, I was glad to sleep in my own bed. But aside from that, the room itself was amazing, awesome partial view of the ocean, bathroom was goreous and I loved the walk-out lanai for my meals. I would definetly stay here again when I return next year!
“The Best Hotel in Maui - Worth every penny”
We found a roach in our first room, which was on the first floor so they moved us upstairs and upgraded us to a suite as well. They took care of the issue immediately and was very apologetic. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the hotel, ammenities and the service. House keeping even came around twice everyday. If the purpose of your trip is to relax, this is the place you want to be at. The hotel is located on the Kapalua resort and everything is inclusive. There is no reason to go anywhere but to stay on the resort. They have their own beach, pools, plethora of restaurants. Highly recommended...this is the only hotel I will be staying at in Maui.
“Kapalua Retreat”
Check in: At check in we were greeted with kukui nut necklaces and a welcoming staff member. She may have been the desk manager. We were notified at check in of the location of our room and then given the keys. *bad experience* This was probably the only point at which the experience was difficult, because we were pointed in the direction of our room without a map. The resort is fairly large, so it took some impromptu navigating to get there. Room: We had a deluxe room with a king bed. The room was immaculate. Very relaxing and inviting. Fine materials were used but it does not look overly opulent. Our room opened to a veranda on the golf course side. Although we did not have the ocean view it was very calming. Dining: Although we mostly dined out to try new places, we at at the Alaloa Lounge and Kai Sushi. You will find that the hotels are not overly packed so you can enjoy solitude as a couple or a intimate group very easily. The hotel gave us complimentary appetizers to Alaloa Lounge since this was a birthday trip for my wife and we enjoyed Crab and Fontina Cheese Dip and green tea ice cream. While enjoying entertainment from a local group on Saturday night. Very cool experience. I took my wife to Kai Sushi since she had never tried it before and the server was very knowledgeable about each item on the menu. She had tried each and was able to make suggestions for my wife to ease her into the world of sushi. She loved it!! Our plans are to return to this location soon.
“Very nice resort”
Great place... you really cannot go wrong staying here. The view is amazing, the rooms are very nice, the service was top notch. Two items that surprised me. 1) No chairs on the beach. 2) In the afternoons, the wind was very strong, more than on other parts of the island.
“Great Experience!”
The only negative comment I can make is that housekeeping was adiment about coming in and making up the room/turn down service twice daily. Even if we had our do not disturb sign out we recieved phone calls and still had knocks on the door. It was nice to know we could contact them for service, but honeymooners mean it when they say do not disturb :)
“Wonderful honeymoon”
My wife and I stayed at the Ritz during the last week of Novemeber on our honeymoon. It really was an enjoyable stay. We had a suite which was large and comfortable. The frig and freezer were large enough to hold food for us, though maybe not for a large family. I highly recommend a Lomilomi massage at the spa, probably the best spa experience either of us have ever had. Kapalua is not the place to be if you're into activities, but Kaanapali is a short drive south and everything is there if you want it. If you want a pampered five star experience on Maui, the Ritz gets a big thumbs up.
“Awesome”
The Hotel was quiet, clean and incredible service. If you want a quiet romantic spot this is the place.
“A stay in paradise”
What a wonderful, relaxing experience. The staff at the hotel are the absolute best: our hotel greeter was a joy; our turn-down attendant, was so sweet and went the extra mile to make sure we were happy; our favorite waitstaff made sure everything was perfect, even recommending special teas that are a must try. There were a couple minor issues with our room when we checked in (that pesky frig), but engineering had everything fixed or replaced within minutes. The only compliant we had with the room was a lack of exhaust fan in the bathroom, which we thought was rather odd for a hotel of this quality. The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful, we especially loved the short walk down to the beach. The view and the rolling hill down to the ocean is not something I will ever forget. The pool is fantastic, and there are lots of helpful friendly staff. We just loved the guy who went into the pool (wearing his uniform) to deliver free pineapple! The pool is also a great location for star gazing at night as well. An overall excellent experience, and would stay here again!
“Fabulous in every regard”
We enjoyed very professional and efficient service at the Ritz. Not only is the hotel stunningly beautiful, its staff make sure you know they are there to make your vacation a memorable experience. We were uniformly greeted by every staff member we encountered. We always got what we needed when we needed it. The hotel is beautifully situated with gorgeous cascading pools. The spa was great, with both indoor and outdoor relaxation rooms. The service in all parts of the hotel was well done and at the same time, wonderfully unstuffy. The shuttle service that's available took us to some fabulous restaurants in the area. The only drawback, if it can be called that, is that the location is a bit further from other places of interest so it take more time to get around. Still we would go back to the Ritz on our next visit and only wish that could be tomorrow!
