“Convenient location, good for what we were looking for”
The hotel is in a very nice resort area, and while the hotel is not a resort itself, it's a very nice, small place. Walk across the street to a small nice beach. They provided everything needed for a long stay, but only do room service once a week.
“great place”
I traveled in july/10 the place is not fancy but very clean and nice. I did hear the roosters a couple of times but did not bother me at all. The staff were very nice and helpful and the place was well stocked with everything you may need. I would definitely not hesitate to stay there again and is only about 20 minutes from Lahaina, and is walking distance to the beach.
“Convenient to Napili and Kapalua beaches”
This was our 3rd stay at the Gardens at West Maui, so there were no surprises, or disappointments. There was roofing work going on with units in the rear, but the work was done mid-day and was not at all obtrusive. The location is a short walk to both Kapalua Beach, and Napili Beach. These are two of the best beaches on Maui. A great snorkeling bay is also a short walk around the point (or swim) just south of Napili Beach. If you want a high level of contact with the management of the property you won't find it here. We checked in after hours via courtesy phone and lock box, then checked out by courtesy phone and key drop box. If you want a very nice condo at the price of a decent hotel room - and the up side of an outstanding location, this is the place. There are grills on the pool patio to use if you prefer to stay in for some meals. The kitchen is fully equipped, except you need to bring your own coffee filters for the 12 cup coffee maker. There are several good restaurants within a short walk including "The Gazebo." (Check Maui guides for info on why we were willing to wait in line for it to open) Lahaina is a short 10-15 min drive to the south, and don't miss out on the scenery north of Kapalua by taking Hwy 30 north along the coast. If you like Maui, and you like condos this is a good option. If you want to see a staff waiting on you, go elsewhere. In 2009 we enjoyed meeting Kapalua resident Ervin Magic Johnson as he jogged past!!!
“Very nice hotel to stay. We do not regret it. It is recommended for our pals in the coast of Ecuador”
Our room was really nice with kitchenette as seen in the web site with a nice view to the garden and golf field. Close to a minimarket and luxury hotels. Fresh air. We used to do our morning jogging up to the Ritz Carlton Residences wow and chic!!! And people are friendly everywhere. Car rental is a must if you want to know the island. My fiancee did kite surfing in Kahana Beach. Wind 25 knots. For me was a hurricane but kite and wind surfers was great. Old Lohaina harbour worthwhile to vist. If your budget is tight for food go to Safeway Supermarket and do all the grocery. Otherwise be prepared with your credit cards. We stayed three days in Maui. They were not enough. The sightseeing is amazing and you feel so peaceful there. Hope we can go back again there. Aloha and Mahalo!!!!!
“5 night get-away”
We arrived on Thursday and the main office was closed... uh oh. No big deal, picked up the phone next to the office, was promptly helped and give the code to the safe next to the phone which had our room keys and hotel pamphlet. Our room was cozy with the backyard facing a golf course with lots of palm trees and vegetation. Everything was clean and the room had everything we needed, like a small apartment that's already furnished. About a 5 minute walk from either Napili bay or Kapalua bay. Kapalua being my favorite because of the awesome snorkeling. Pros - No parking fee, no daily resort fee, quick access to beaches, small, quiet, clean. Cons - Main office not always open, housekeeping is not daily
“A solid 4 stars”
We enjoyed our stay but be aware that the neighbors to the south have roosters that like to make some noise. There seem to be chickens all over the island just running around freely (including on Honolua Beach) so maybe that's just part of the experience... Anyway, we ran the stove fan on low while we slept and that provided just enough noise to drown out the roosters and we slept very well. The pool area is very nice and staff were very friendly and helpful, including providing insight into locations and activities of interest to us. We would stay there again.
“relaxing stay”
We stayed here for four nights and I was really impressed with the grounds and the room, besides the orientation and optional activities you are left on your own to do your own thing. the kitchen was well equipted and the washer and dryer came in very handy. you are left well stocked with things like complimentary soap, shampoo and lotion as well as washing detergent and dishwasher powder. there is also quite a number of extra towels so housekeeping is done every few days. There is a swimming pool and a spa however if you prefer the beach is about a five to ten minutes walk depending on speed and there you can see lovely sunsets and whales. there is also a live link so get your phone out call home and wave to your friends and family. In the morning you can hear the local cock crow I looked forward to hearing it. the Kapalua golf course is right next door and the ritz carlton around the corner.
“condo was very comfortable.”
the room was comfortable, great location, 5 min walk to a great beach, really nice neighbourhood. I would stay there again, great price. The only thing was the pull out bed was uncomfortable, my kids would of been fine but not for me. The staff was great, very helpful. I had a really great stay at this condo.
“Simple condo style in good location”
I've been hear several times last time in 05'. The converted condo hotel is decent. Kinda like staying in an apartment. However, the location is great, in the Napili/Kapalua area. Need a makeover, but still decent. It borders a 3 star condo slipping towards a 2.5 star. It is clean, pool is clean, but condo is starting to show it's age. I only recommend for hose on a budget, not for those who are use to resorts or 3.5 stars and up. Expect an apartment style complex but smaller which actually helps this hotel.
“Love their alarm clock!”
The Gardens at West Maui is well past its prime, but priced appropriately. The rooster (the alarm clock) next door is up with the sun, YOU WILL BE ALSO! We were looking for an out of the way, quiet , less expensive place to stay... except for the rooster, we got what we wanted. The hotel is only staffed on certain days of the week, you must call it's "big sister" hotel a couple of miles away if you need anything on the "off" days. Pool was crystal clear. BBQ's were clean. Nice beach is right across the street. Plenty of shopping in Lahaina is only 15 minutes down the highway.
