“Fully-equipped”
Pros: - Spacious, clean rooms - The best-equipped hotel room I've ever seen: there is a washer, dryer, dishwasher, full-sized fridge, toaster, blender, coffee maker, a full set of utensils, and even pots/pans. You can actually cook a serious meal here! - Large-screen TV with a DVD player - Swimming pool and hot tub - Pleasant, sunny atmosphere Cons: - Separate charge for internet access, and it ain't cheap - Front desk is manned only half of the week (although it is "manned" remotely via phone the other half) Overall, a great experience.
“Convenient to Napili and Kapalua beaches”
This was our 3rd stay at the Gardens at West Maui, so there were no surprises, or disappointments. There was roofing work going on with units in the rear, but the work was done mid-day and was not at all obtrusive. The location is a short walk to both Kapalua Beach, and Napili Beach. These are two of the best beaches on Maui. A great snorkeling bay is also a short walk around the point (or swim) just south of Napili Beach. If you want a high level of contact with the management of the property you won't find it here. We checked in after hours via courtesy phone and lock box, then checked out by courtesy phone and key drop box. If you want a very nice condo at the price of a decent hotel room - and the up side of an outstanding location, this is the place. There are grills on the pool patio to use if you prefer to stay in for some meals. The kitchen is fully equipped, except you need to bring your own coffee filters for the 12 cup coffee maker. There are several good restaurants within a short walk including "The Gazebo." (Check Maui guides for info on why we were willing to wait in line for it to open) Lahaina is a short 10-15 min drive to the south, and don't miss out on the scenery north of Kapalua by taking Hwy 30 north along the coast. If you like Maui, and you like condos this is a good option. If you want to see a staff waiting on you, go elsewhere. In 2009 we enjoyed meeting Kapalua resident Ervin Magic Johnson as he jogged past!!!
“Very happy! We would stay here again no hesitation.”
We booked the Gardens at West Maui over the internet with only the reviews to go by. Chickens? Yes, but they were not bothersome at all. We stayed in room 300 which is a studio with a murphy bed. Very quiet and clean. If you are going to Maui to see and explore the island as we did I would highly recommend this place. If you like a hotel with room service and all the bells and whistles (and people) this would not be the place for you. The beach is just a short walk away from here which is really good because the small public parking lot fills up fast. If you are planning on using your hotel for a place to sleep, shower, and keep your stuff why pay outrageous rates? The Gardens was everything we needed. We are already planning our next trip!
“Luxury at bargain price”
Great set-up including in-room washer and dryer. Great snorkeling, paddling beach 2 blocks away. Narrow roads you have to be careful on or walking next to. Roosters next door sing day and night. Limited office hours but red phone to other location for needs when office is closed. Room service is only once a week but plenty of towels, etc. for self service. Murphy bed a little inconvenient but necessary.
“no towels & insults”
the front desk woman insulted my boyfriend. she forgot to give us towels, which we only noticed as we were getting out of the shower. so i told her this at checkout, & instead of apologizing, she snorted & snidely said, "typical man! won't ask for what he needs." he's the least typical man i've ever met & i don't appreciate her calling him that. i said as much, & she got all uppity about how we should've called down for towels. yep, we could've - & stood there shivering in the chilly, leaky-fauceted room until she bothered to wander up. you bet. don't stay here, they can't even remember to properly outfit the mediocre rooms.
“Love their alarm clock!”
The Gardens at West Maui is well past its prime, but priced appropriately. The rooster (the alarm clock) next door is up with the sun, YOU WILL BE ALSO! We were looking for an out of the way, quiet , less expensive place to stay... except for the rooster, we got what we wanted. The hotel is only staffed on certain days of the week, you must call it's "big sister" hotel a couple of miles away if you need anything on the "off" days. Pool was crystal clear. BBQ's were clean. Nice beach is right across the street. Plenty of shopping in Lahaina is only 15 minutes down the highway.
“Can't wait to go back.”
We have stayed here before and it's just what we need. It's close to the store, it's close to restaurants and the beach is just right across the street. We like it and we will continue to go back as often as we can.
“cant wait to go back”
We stayed for one week, we loved it!!!! You are close to the beach, restaurants... although a car is a must It has a full kitchen that was great for breakfast every day and dinner once in a while. Everyone in the complex was nice and friendly. Will recommend it for your vacation.
“"Would love to "buy in'!”
The Gardens was truly a pleasant surprise! We were a little concerned what might be awaiting us when we arrived due to reviews we read and the great deal we received. When we arrived to our condo we were relieved and excited! The atmosphere was very pleasing and the grounds are beautiful. We loved the location. Napili Bay (across the road) was amazing and perfect for our families with preschoolers! The water was calm and they loved it. The beach was close and so great we never really visited other beaches because we love Napili so much. As for the roosters everyone tallks about, we definitely heard them every morning but it wasn't like he was roosting right outside our window! They never bothered us one bit! Our only dissappointment was the coffee was only for two days and when we asked for more, we were told thats all they allowed for each visit. We bought some at the store bought it didn't even compare! In fact, We loved the coffee so much, I brought the empty package home and ordered some! LOL! All in all, our stay was a great stay and made perfect memories for our first trip to Maui! If I could visit often I would definitely want to own one of these condos! Oh, and having the laundry in room was AWESOME! We came home with clean laundry!
“hope i can come back”
good service, everythinng we need is provided by them
