“My third trip in five years and I can't wait to go back!”
Beautiful grounds, perfect location...amazing!
“Outstanding! cannot wait to return.”
This resort/condominium property was by far an excellent choice for our vacation. Property is clean, immaculate grounds within close proximity to shopping centers, but not too close. Beach is almost private as the resort lies on the end of a string of hotels and has 20 to 30 minutes of beach that is not in front of any other hotels. Pool is well maintained, staff exceedingly polite and helpful. Expedia site on the grounds to assist with vouchers & booking additional activities. I will be returning to this property on our next trip. Made us feel like we were at home. Loved it!!
“Definitely would go back”
This hotel is right on a very nice beach. Gentle surf, very clean, not much traffic other than hotel guests, and a nice reef for snorkeling just a little way out from the beach. The hotel is centrally located and convenient to most of the other parts of the island. Although it is an older property, the grounds were very well kept. Pool and hottub were nice as was the lawn area for sunbathing. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful views with hills on either side, Molokini in the distance, and georgeous sunsets. We thought the beach was every bit as nice as the more popular beaches that we visited.
“Good fit for us”
The things we liked best about the condo at Sugar Beach Resort: 1) right on the beach - loved our close, ocean front view 2) adjacent to long stretch of undeveloped, uncrowded beach - 3 miles along Ma'alaea Bay. Great for beach strolls, jogging 3) central location - short drive to Wailea, West Maui, or Kahului 4) our unit was clean, comfortable, well-funished - grounds were well kept, though not as elegant as more expensive resorts Downside: 1) North Kihei is windier than Wailea or Kan'anapali 2) Immediate beach narrow and not great for snorkelling 3) Ammenaties not as extravagant as more expensive resorts
“Paradise at Sugar Beach”
Sugar Beach was everything and more than we could ever expect. Yes, the landscaping wasn't as nice as the huge resorts in southern Maui, but it was fabulour nonetheless. Our room was bigger, nicer, cleaner, and much much more accomodating than any other hotels. Only a five second walk to the beach, a one minute walk to the on-site bar, this was HEAVEN. The staff was friendly, the entire area was clean. I give this a 5 star rating and will definitely be back.
“Outstanding Vacation”
Just returned from spending 2 weeks (Jan. 07)at Sugar Beach unit #223. The location is great, right on the beach, central to all parts of the island. Condo was very clean, well apportioned and roomy enough for the two of us; it really did feel like home away from home. Make your sightseeing arrangements with Expedia right in the complex, knowledgeable and friendly staff, good prices. Helicopter tour and Pacific Whale Foundation Molokini & Lanai snorkeling trip a must do. Great swimming beaches just a few miles away at Kihei. Drive up to Lahaina for general shopping and dining. We would definitely stay at Sugar Beach again, truly a great value.
“can't wait to go back”
Best vacation ever!
“Not impressed”
Upon arrival we were greating with drilling and loud bangs from the construction. All during our stay we could hear what the people in other rooms were doing. On 2 of the mornings at around 5 am hawaiian time we were woke up from the loud noises in the neighboring rooms.
“Best Vacation Trip Ever! Plan to return in a few years!”
This review comes from someone who enjoys traveling the world....Paris, 30 national parks, Israel, etc...etc...And I can tell you that you won't go wrong for privacy and location! Me and my wife spent our 25th wedding anniversary in rm #225 facing the ocean. The waves softly lulled us to sleep each night. The entire ocean-facing wall is glass, but keep the screen closed at night to keep gnats out. Local Expert Expeidia desk is at the hotel to redeem your vouchers for activities. Everyone was very friendly. Make certain that if your flight arrives after 4pm that you call ahead to get your room keys...office closes at 5pm. The owner of #225 thought of everything when he or she designed the decor. The two turtles on the balcony let you know the attention to detail. No wind in the morning; by 2pm the wind is 30-40 mph! Beach time should be before 2pm! Sometimes, we were the only ones on the beach for a 3 mile stretch!
“a great place to stay, right on the beach, beautiful grounds”
