“Wonderful Hotel”
We have stayed at this hotel several times and it is the best on Kaanapali Beach. Service is great and pool is beautiful. Best beach and great snorkeling a few feet from the hotel.
“Breathtaking”
The hotel is breathtaking; from the time we arrived late at night, the staff swooped up our belongings, valet parked our car, and guided us to check in and our room. The open air design of the lobby is unbelievable; one truly has to experience it to fully appreciate the natural beauty. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a first class, beautiful hotel with exceptional service, absolutely conducive to the natural beauty of the Black rock and Kaanapli beach.
“Great Hotel”
Beautiful hotel, fantastic grounds and pools. Best location on the beach with world class snorkeling. I have travelled extensively and would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Maui.
“Best snorkeling on the island!”
The Sheraton at Black Rock has the best snorkeling. No need to pay to visit 'Turtle Town' or Molokini. We snorkeled with turtles everytime we went out. We had to move out of their way. Plus the fish were like swimming in an aquarium..beautiful. The food on-site at the hotel is very expensive. Walk down to the Marriott for sandwhiches.
“Great place to relax”
We spent 12 nights at the Sheraton and had a great time. My biggest complaint is that the buffet breakfast for two was $70. The items of the menu were not any cheaper so if you stay here, get some cereal and milk (rooms have a fridge) and save tons of money. Other than that, the staff was friendly, helpful and responsive. The grounds were beautiful and the ceremony at Black Rock each night was also a treat. I would also recommend a massage by the beach. Overall, a very nice experience.
“Great location, great hotel”
Our first visit to Maui was greatly enhanced by a nice hotel. We stayed the last week of October and were treated to a beautiful ocean view room, complete with a refrigerator and internet included in the daily facility fee. The location is wonderful, lots of people in the area come to this beach to go snorkeling by Black Rock. We saw a decent amount of small fish and sea turtles pretty frequently. Not bad for being right in front of the resort. The pool is solid, not the greatest, but definitely above average with a section off to the side for kids. A 5-10 min walk along the beach to Whaler's Village offers a nice little mall with some good restaurants, we liked the Barefoot Bar at the Hula Grill. Or if you want a little night life, Lahaina town is 5-10 minutes away by car (we had a rental, but there may be public transportation), lots of shops and restaurants there, we liked Kimo's for dinner. I recommend having a car (parking is free in the structure for guests), it makes it very convenient to explore the island, especially if you are going to Hana or Haleakala Mtn. We had a red eye flight out of Maui (like many people) and had to check out well before our flight, they have a computer for electronic check-in in the lobby. We were able to hang out at the resort all day because the hotel let use the gym to shower and clean up before we went to the airport. The hotel also has a small convenience store for basic needs.
“Strongly recommend”
My wife and I live on Oahu and we went just for a week. It was the first time we styed in Maui. If you are looking for the "tourist" area in Maui (and Kaanapali is not the only one), the Sheraton is a great hotel. I think price was a bargain compared to other hotels, they upgraded us to an ocean front deluxe at check-in (instead of just the ocean front we reserved and paid for), and the overall service was very good. We also thought the teppanyaki was very good, and we've had teppanyaki many times in Japan when we lived there. I think both couples and families can have a good time there. And there is lots to do within a walk or a free trolley ride away.
“Would love to go back, the beach was fabulous.”
We were upgraded when we arrived got a deluxe ocean view room. Was really nice. The hotel is very luxurious, and did not seem crowded at all, though they were full. The only thing is that it is very spread out. If you can't walk alot I would not recommend it. We were on the bluff over looking Black Rock and to get to the restaurant or bar was a LONG WAY away. Lots of elevators, halls and walking. Tho the views were spectacular. A lot of open rooms. Because the hotel is built on different levels you do have to go up and down alot too. But the Beach was fantastic, the snorkling good, the sand warm, and the water you could just float for hours. Sea turtles even swim around black rock. I would definitely recommend it if you want to get exercise without trying.
“Perfect - Will be coming back!!”
This hotel was absolutely wonderful! The view from our room was terrific..this hotel has the best beach and snorkeling on the island! Since it was our anniversary, they upgraded us from garden view to ocean view and provided champagne up on our arrival. I can't say enough about the Sheraton..we are already planning on coming back to stay here!
“Very nice experience”
My wife and I just came back froma 6 day stay there. When we arrived, the hotel had upgraded our room to a deluxe oceanfront room..which was very nice! The only inconveniance seemed to be parking. Very limited parking on the north end of the complex. The staff was pleasant, and the servers at the Sundowner Bar (by the pool) couldn't have been any better. Snorkeling/swimming right at the hotel was also excellent. I'll stay again, hopefully soon!
