“Great Place but AC is a joke”

This was the 2nd time we have stayed here but the first time we had a 2 bedroom unit. The 2nd bedroom was upstairs in the loft. The only AC was a wall unit on the ground which did little to cook down the unit unless you left it running all day when you were gone. They need to upgradt to a split unit heat pump unit with one cooler up stairs and one on the main floor. We had the bedroom down stairs that had twin beds. We has specifically requested a queen bed in both bed rooms but was not notifice there would be twin beds. What a surprise. The back bedroom was extremely hot and we had to have a fam on all night with resulted in hot hearing the ocean at night. Other than this the place was pretty good.

“Good Location!”

We always stay at the Kamaole Sands- Maui Condo and Home but the unfortunate thing is that since are all individually owned you never really know what the condo will look like. The last time we stayed the condo was much nicer and cleaner. We were not totally disappointed but would like to see some consistent standards with all the condos.

“Best resort in Maui!”

Kamaole Sands is beautiful! The grounds are amazing, it's a short walk across the road to Kamaole III (beautiful beach!), and the condo was in excellent condition. We stayed in 7-109 which appeared to be newly renovated. The bed was comfortable, everything was very clean, and the living room had a comfortable futon couch as well as a futon chair that also folded down. The lanai was roomy, with a four chairs, a table, and a lounge chair. The condo was fully equipped with everything you need - blender, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, washer, dryer. We did not see one bug of any kind! The closet contained boogie boards, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, a cooler, and beach toys! We met our neighbors, who were leaving that day, who gave us a bunch of water, food, etc. There was a mango tree right outside our door with fresh mangos every day! The pool area was awesome, with a wading pool for the little ones! A beautiful resort which we will definitely visit again!

Area recommendations
Go to the Polynesian Village Luau - it was funny, entertaining and very good for children. Pay the extra $20 for VIP seating - it was worth it! It's affordable, the food is good and it is four hours of a superb time! Visit Big Beach, but be careful - the waves are dangerous and we heard that ambulances make a trip there at least once a day for somebody with a broken bone, etc.
Getting around
We rented a car and upon arrival were upgraded to a Ford Mustang convertible for only $10/day extra. The total cost of our car was only $220 for the whole stay from Budget.
What to pack
Pack light!! There are washer/dryers in the condo and you can always wash your favourites! Use one bathing suit for the beach - they tend to get a little beat up from the sand/ocean. Lots of light dresses for ladies/little girls and tank tops! Don't bring anything heavy. Don't overpack!!!
Dining
Bubba Gumps in Lahaina was amazing! Good service and great food! PuPu's on S. Kihei rd was really good, as was Alexander's fish (a little greasy, but good fish and good price). We also ate at Shaka's pizza was was very good! Buy meat and produce at Costco! Be warned, the place is a madhouse!!! Buy all other boxed goods and liquor at Walmart. Both are very close to the airport. You will save big by BBQ'ing at your resort. It cools down enough by 5:30 that BBQ'ing is no problem.
Events and shows
Go to the Polynesian Village Luau - it was funny, entertaining and very good for children. Pay the extra $20 for VIP seating - it was worth it! It's affordable, the food is good and it is four hours of a superb time! Stay away from the snorkel trips. We took one to Molokini and Lana'i - it was 7 hours in total with only 1 1/2 in the water. Everything you can see on this trip can be seen on one of the beaches in Kihei. There were people throwing up all around us because of being sea sick and 5 hours on a small boat is too much!

“Nice property”

It was a nice property. The beds are so small in the second bedroom.

“Kamaole Sands is OK”

The room was good, but had bugs in the kitchen, a double bed instead of a queen size bed. There was no Internet service, though advertised as wireless internet available

Area recommendations
Wailea and Ka'anapali are most likely the best places to stay because of the ease of beach and shopping access.

“Great trip”

This is an excellent family hotel/condo. The grounds are superb. The location is good. The rooms are large. The best part is the call of the birds in the morning as you wake and sip your coffee. Lots of Canadians, you feel very welcome here.

Area recommendations
Go to the local beaches, easy to get around.

“Kamaole Sands is Best Spot in Kihei”

Kamaole Sands is by far the best spot in Kihei. Located very conveniently across the street from Kamaole Beach III made it easy for my family and I to let everyone do what they wanted since everything was walking distance to pool, beach, shopping, restaurants, etc. The property is gorgeous, and in my opinion, unmatched in Kihei. The only drawback at this property is that all the condos are owned privately and managed by a cadre of companies, so you really don't know what you are going to get. Our unit was great, albeit not the cleanest, but was comfortable and convenient. On the down side, when in Kihei, expect tiny ants in your room and don't be surprised by a cockroach or two - it is the tropics. Also at this property, there is no maid service, so you might find yourself having to by toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags or other items that you may expect to be there for you. Just depends on the unit and how many supplies are stocked (or left behind by previous guests). As long you know what you are getting into, you will be glad you chose Kamaole Sands with the beach across the street and lifeguards on duty... I like that - I want to know when there are sharks nearby so I can get out of the water... if you are more of a thrill seeker, head down south to Wailea or McKenna where no lifeguards will force you out of the water when currents are too strong, or sharks too hungry. I highly recommend Kamaole Sands and plan to return next year.

“Can't wait to go back!”

It's difficult to complain about a wonderful vacation experience, when the weather complimented all the activities we experienced together. The grandkids got to help the groundskeeper feed the Coi fish in the pond near the pool, every day at 5:00. Fun Fun Fun What's a little Vog. Returning home to single digit temperatures quickly returned us to reality!

Area recommendations
One of the best beaches is directly across the street from the hotel. In addition, parks, swinging, restaurants, shopping, coffee spots and ice cream shops are within walking distance. Whale watching and tremendous sunsets across the street, sittng on the grass or on the beach Every Night ... a must see ... a must do!

“Love Kamoale Sands”

I didn't expect there would be no maid service. That was OK, but just be aware. Love this place. It comes with extras - boogie boards, sand equipment, cooler, beach towels. I know it varies from room to room as they're individually owned, but usually there's something.

Area recommendations
Kihei is my favorite spot. Can't beat the beaches right across the street. The weather is almost always sunny.
Dining
We love the barefoot bar at Hula Grill in Whaler's Village for a sunset dinner. The sunset is fantastic and there's often nice live music - for a reasonable price.
