The Kahana Reef in Kaanapali, Maui is situated on two beachfront acres, 10 minutes from shops and restaurants.
To relax, guests can wander into the garden with its freshwater pool, two barbecues, and picnic area, all on the edge of the lapping waves of Kahana Reef.
The resort's grassy lawn overlooking the ocean is pleasant for sunbathing. From there, guests may make use of a small strip of sandy beach, but most of the small area between the grass and the ocean is rocky. In fall and winter, migrating humpback whales can be spotted from lanais.

This two-acre condo resort consists of three four-story buildings. Kahana Reef - Maui Condo & Home has 88 units decorated in island style, all of which include kitchens with refrigerators, four-burner stoves, dishwashers, and microwaves. Units measure 710 square feet and have large, furnished lanais with unobstructed ocean views.
Units feature one bedroom with floor-to-ceiling mirrors, a sofa bed in the living room, and individually designed bathrooms. A bar-style counter separates the kitchen from the living area. Two ceiling fans substitute for air conditioning. All rooms are nonsmoking.
Housekeeping service is available for an additional fee.

Kahana Reef's freshwater pool faces the ocean and flanks two stone stairways that give access to excellent snorkeling reefs. Farther out, experienced surfers tackle Kahana's waves. Equipment rentals for ocean activities are just 1 or 2 blocks away. A fitness center is 3 blocks away. Kahana is 5 miles from the golf courses, tennis courts, swimming beaches, and other recreational activities of two resort communities, Kapalua and Kaanapali.

“far better than we expected”
Condo very clean, everything you needed was there. Grounds very well kept. It was far beyond our expectations. The view was superb. Would recommend this property to everyone couples and families. It was great.

The view was great,it was nice to wake up to the sound of waves crashing into the reef.We had a great time and we are planning to return next year.

We had a wonderful time! The view was amazing and being able to lay on the pull out couch while looking at the ocean was exactly what i wanted for vacation! Great location, not in the middle of the chaos but close enough to what you need.

I had some doubts before our stay at the Kahana reef, but from the second I arrived all doubts were eliminated. The hotel grounds were very well kept and was in an absolute perfect location. The room was clean upon our arrival and had everything a beach goer could want. The room was stocked with beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels, and even an ice chest. The kitchen was well stocked with everything to cook a meal. The best part however was the view from the lenai. The web site said all rooms had a ocean view and they were right. I could throw a rock underhand and hit the water. This room was perfect for my wife and 6 year old kids. I cant wait to go back.

The Reef was perfect! The view was dynamite! Very quiet, but no amenities! We loved it and will return, only downfall is there are no guest services what so ever!

This condo complex is away from the crowds, well-kept and quiet. all rooms have an ocean view. perfect for a peaceful vacation to Maui.
“A wonderful place”
I was very pleased with this condo. I hesitate to give it too good of a review for frear that it will become too popular. It was very comfortable, clean, and offered everything I needed and more, including a very quiet environment, waterfront location, and proximity to some very nice beaches. The only downside to staying in this area was the daily west bound "rush hour" traffic, especially in the Lahaina area.
“Excellent condo planning to come back and stay in same place.”
The only bad thing was the laundry room closing at 6:30 P.m. We had are clothes in the wash room they locked the room it was 6:38 P.M. We asked if he could open the room He was so rude and mean and said no And ruined that night we had dinner reservations and all are clothes where in the laundry room
“Fabulous view. Comfortable Condo”
For those who like to have a kitchen and somewhat independant vacation, this place is perfect. The view is unsurpassed with the constant sounds of crashing waves and the sight of migrating whales from the balcony. Great place for a leasurly breakfast if you like to eat in. I stayed at this facility about 18 years ago. It's been updated. It is not as isolated as it was then. Highway upgrades have made the transit to Lahaina much better. If you prefer nature (with a good bed, plumbing and a kitchen) over super comercialized hotel luxeries, then this is the place to stay.
