“Great Condo, Relaxing with great Views and Beach access”

I wasn't completely sure when booking the room since some of the reviews were negative but booked because a lot of them were positive. We were put into Room 605 on the Sixth Floor with a beautiful view overlooking the ocean. The room was clean and had a kitchenette, small refrigerator, microwave and two burner stove. The Murphy bed was comfortable and really saves space once you put it up out of the way. The A/C ran fine and we ran it most of the time since it was so warm outside. The balcony has two chairs and a small table where you can sunbathe and enjoy the sunrise/sunset and great views. The pool and spa was cleaned daily and the staff was great at maintaining the cleanliness of the grounds. There are two bbqs which we used to cook some evening meals. A 24 hour Safeway exists in Laihaina which is about 15 minutes away and McDonalds is about 1 1/2 blocks up the street. I think the best feature for the Condo is the Ocean View. You wake up to a brilliant sunrise and enjoy a beautiful sunset in the evening. The Kahana Beach area is less crowded and we really enjoyed staying at this end of the island. We visited Laihaina often and enjoyed the nightlife there. I would truly recommend the Kahana Beach Vacation Club ...

Area recommendations
Laihaina is great for shopping and dining. It has a lot of Ocean Front Restaurants and plenty to do there.
Getting around
We rented a Jeep Wrangler and took the top off - It was a fun vehicle to drive. It gets about 18 miles/gal. We filled up twice in the 7 days we stayed there.
What to pack
T-shirts, shorts, and sandals. Really laid back and you can go to most restaurants with this attire.
Must see
Road to Hana - Drive the road to Hana, a little windy but great and beautiful scenery.
Nightlife
Laihaina has plenty of restaurants with live bands. Best to go in the evening to enjoy the sunset and it's cooler.
Events and shows
Old Laihaina Luau - They really make you feel welcome there. You are greeted with a Mai Tai when you first enter and a flower lei. Drinks are complimentary (including alcoholic drinks). The food was great as well as dessert and the show. The staff is really helpful and makes the entire event a real pleasure.
Outdoors or beach
Honolua Bay - great area for Snorkeling, get there early as there is limited parking. Also enjoyed the chickens there and the cats.

“Somewhat lacking. Nice beach, no bugs though! Not impressed otherwise.”

They lost our reservation! It took awhile to find it. No real bed! The sofa couch wasn't made, and the mattress had stains. The Murphy bed was lumpy. It was difficult to sleep in, and you couldn't see the TV from it. NO MAID service! They only swap out towels. The hot tub was a joke. It didn't work half the time, and the when it did, they glued a plate to the front so you couldn't turn on half of the jets. It wasn't very hot either. The pool was freezing. The complimentary breakfast is at the hotel next door. Parking was inadequate, and if it's full, they tell you to park either in the public parking, or in the hotel down the road, which wasn't too bad, but just rather an inconvenience. The ice machine we were told to use didn't have more than a couple cups of ice in it. Didn't try the laundry facilities, because they were on every other floor, or something odd. The elevators were broken one day, and one continued to sound as if it was about to collapse. I would say this would be okay for the price if you just needed a place to sleep, but it was hard to sleep on the lumpy bed! The small kitchen was a joke - two burner stove, and CRAMPED! Can't even turn around in it. Lots of the utensils had rust, as did the blender. I could not, in good faith, recommend this hotel to anyone. Maybe if it were half the price, or if they at least made the rooms, or had a real bed, or ... just SOMETHING more. It's really just a bottom-of-the-barrel place to stay. Nice beach, no bugs that I saw.

Area recommendations
Anything west side. S-Turns park is a great place to hang out and watch the sunset. A few great place to eat with great happy hours. Excellent local pineapple. I love this area!
When to go
In January, it's still 80 degrees warm, but the water temperature is a bit cool. However, it's perfect in July through September or so! The winter months have migrating whales, which are cool. I wouldn't go snorkeling with turtles at this time of year though. Maui is still great anytime of the year though.
Getting around
You don't really need much transportation, unless you want to see everything yourself, or do some traveling. If you want to relax on the beach, then you can pretty much find whatever you need around you. However, if you wanted to see the Road to Hana, or some other adventure's, you can save yourself some $$$ by driving yourself. Get a local map, and you'll soon see how easy it is to navigate around.
Dining
Not much night life in Maui, but Dollie's bar in Kahana has a great happy hour. Maui Brewing Company has sampler beer and karaoke on Wednesday. RB's happy hour is a bit steep, but they have the best sushi! The Sands of Kahana has $3 Mai Tai, Lava Flow, and Pina Coladas, and half off anything entree deals going on. Maui Tacos is a great local chain offering fresh Mexican inspired dishes and an excellent salsa bar with pineapple salsa.

“The price was right, but that was it.”

In the original booking of the package I requested and received an oceanview room. After further reading reviews, I then submitted a request for a higher floor and/or an end unit, which has an oceanfront and side ocean view. When we arrived we had a ground floor unit, oceanfront. There was no privacy, because our lanai was litterally on the front beach walk where lawn chair were and people laid in the sun. If we sat on our lanai and crossed our legs we would almost touch the person laying on the chair on walkway in front of us. My husband request several times (even to the manager) within the next few days to change our room. He was told "we were on the list", but it depended on owners, etc. Needless to say we say many people leaving the facility with luggage in the 14 nights we stayed, but were never called to change rooms. The murphy bed had a glorified crib mattress, as I referred to it. Our backs were so sore and we barely slept at night. We had to take our own garbage to the dumpster in the parking lot and transport dirty towels either down the hall or to another floor to get them out of our room. Towels and trash were taken from our room 2 times by the stafff during our 14 night stay and sheets were changed once. Anything else would cost highly if you requested towels delivered to your room (we picked them up at the front desk for free), changing linens, etc. The price was reasonable because we made reservations far in advance. However, we're not sure it was worth it.

Next time we prefer to stay on Kaanapali beach because it is a wonderful location; close to restaraunts, shopping, lounges, etc.

“Hawaiian wedding in Maui”

All in all it was a good trip. A little rushed going through the airports. The room older, but was in good shape. The Murphy was good, much to my surprise. Having to pay $10 a day for Internet connection was a disappointment, but not a show stopper.

“Great Location and View for an economical price!”

Great vacation. Simple and Quiet condo with a Great view. Loved it that we could walk 10 steps to a sandy beach to play in the ocean waves or sit in a shaded cabana. Sunsets were awesome. Hotel next door has a great beachfront restaurant/sports bar with good happy hour prices (breakfast and dinner!). Walking distance to McDonalds and only 6 miles to Lahaina. Great Location.

“Great value north of Lahaina”

When we arrived at the property the front desk had already closed; however, there were instructions to pick-up the phone to call the desk at a neighboring property. The desk agent on the other end provided detailed instructions on how to get into the room; the process was relatively seamless. We received a room on the third floor directly in the center of the building. The view was outstanding! The room itself was adequate; it seemed a bit run down and in need of a deep clean/renovation.

“Million Dollar Views”

Aside from the issues checking in, the Condo was everything we hoped for and more. Although the unit we had (1107) is just about ready for a refurbish (carpet and tiles are getting worn), the unit was clean and comfortable and directly overlooking the beach. The views of Lanai and Molikai are breathtaking..the sunsets are stunning. In the mornings we would sit with a coffee on the lanai and watch the whales splash about off shore....and every morning a couple of large sea turtles would swim down the beach to the rocks to feed and play. The snorkling at the rocks with the turtles was ok (a little murky but ok) there was much better snorkling at some of the other beaches (Kanapali for example). The beach itself was decent, fairly easy access, not overly crowded and relatively calm. If booking at the Kahana Beach you should know that rooms 01, 02 and 03 on each floor are not directly on the beach but rather on the side of the building over the spa tub and bbq's. Rooms 04-07 are directly on the beach with magnificant views; room 07 is on the west corner which overlooks the beach but is also closest to the road so there is some road noise at certain times of the day but it didnt bother us at all.
