Nice hidden gem!Posted 23-Feb-2014
This hotel is in a serene location within Wailea. Although not right on the beach, access is simple, especially with a great bell staff to drive you there and back. We had a panoramic view room with a beautiful view. The room will be even nicer when it's upgraded like the one our travel companions experienced. The upgrades are first class, Capische restaurant is a must; great food and service. Opportunities: add more lounge type areas, for folks to sit and enjoy an evening libation. There were families with kids. I would say this is a much more adult property. Mahalo Hotel Wailea for a great vacation!

Great Place to StayPosted 17-Feb-2014
Pros: The quiet setting with fantastic ocean views, waterfalls, palm trees, flowers and pathways.
Cons: Parking is very tight. Earlier pool and hot tub hours.
Location: Both Luau at the Grand Wailea or Marriott. Lots of beaches. We liked Little Beach the best, except for the blackness it leaves on your feet.
Hotel Wailea was an awesome place to stay. Staff was very helpful. The setting there offers a quiet place away from the busy center with many romantic or relaxing opportunities. All the amenities are great, all with fantastic ocean views. The suites are quiet and comfortable. Hotel Wailea gifted us with a free bottle of champagne for our second honeymoon. The views there were fantastic, especially the sunsets over the ocean, between the Palm trees. Their beach is a short drive away and have comfortable lounge chairs and beach umbrellas. The beach has nice sand and is great for swimming, our first time in the ocean. They have many paths/walkways under the Palm trees and flowers, waterfalls, brooks everwhere that made our morning walks so enjoyable. Being from Alaska we really enjoyed the birds chirping and all the flowers. They have their own orchard where you can go and pick hawaiian fruits. A few small negetives would be the parking is really tight but the valet service takes care of that, and I would like the pool and hot tub area to open up earlier for those like myself who prefer early moring swims.

Musty and noisyPosted 17-Feb-2014
Pros: Very friendly staff
While the staff were very friendly and very willing to help you out, out room was musty smelling, grungy feeling, and very noisy given it backed on to a road that everyone seemed to tear through at all hours. With that said, they are in the process of renovating the units and the new units looks much, much better than the one we stayed in. When we booked the hotel it was based on pictures of the renovated suites so it was an extreme let down to be placed in one of the old units. Probably would not stay there ever again due to the road noise.

Perfect for us- would only stay herePosted 8-Jan-2014
Pros: Value, View, space, rooms, grounds, staff, decor/design
Cons: Nothing- it was perfect for us. I wish Maui in general sold alcohol later than it does, we arived at 11pm & couldn't even get a glass of wine to relax
Location: Great location! The hotel staff is happy to drive you anywhere in Wailea
Beautiful hotel (coming from an Interior Designer), wonderful staff, perfect rooms, stunning grounds, nothing bad to say at all! My husband and I do not like staying in big resorts with no character, not an easy feat for Maui. Then we found Hotel Wailea and it was truly perfect for us! There surprisingly aren't a lot of beaches in Maui so staying at a higher altitude was great b/c you would wake up every morning on your patio with the most incredible view. Anytime you want to go down to the beach you were escorted immediately in a beautiful with a friendly driver, complimentary. The hotel itself is gorgeous, be sure to walk the grounds. The rooms were surprisingly huge and we loved being able to make breakfast everyday and take a tub/shower at the same time. It's an exceptional value for all it has to offer. The only slightly negative thing we experienced was construction all day nearby but completely out of the hands of the hotel. I would recommend this place over and over and would only stay there if ever going back to Maui. The staff were great and we got to know most of them by end of our trip.

Great view! But ask for a renovated roomPosted 8-Jan-2014
Pros: View, cleanliness, staff.
Cons: The exercise equipment; and I expect the renovated rooms are much better than the one we had.
Location: Snorkeling at Po'olenalena; whale-watching at Ma'alaea; petroglyphs at Olowalu; beach anywhere south of Kihei.
The hotel is lovely, quiet, and in a great location. The public areas are fabulous! Unfortunately, we didn't get the room (2 beds) we had reserved, and there's no way one can make an aging sofa bed comfortable. Our room was showing it's age (...who paints tile? Of COURSE it peels!), and the exercise equipment was NOT as expected, leading us to drive to Kahului with the gym rat I was traveling with so she could get the workout she wanted. But the room was scrupulously clean, the view stunning, the staff attentive, and I would go back anytime.

Condo hotel in transition.Posted 4-Jan-2014
Pros: Staff friendly.
Cons: Kitchen needs to be added poolside to provide lunches and optional dining. Restaurant should be open for all meals Pool needs to be heated.
Location: Hotel is above Wailea golf courses and a fair distance from beach.
Don't book a luxury room with ocean view because you will receive a newly remodeled room (other than new sitting area not much has change) and a view of the pond. We booked 5 rooms total and the luxury room had the worst views. Requested a panoramic view sometime during our 10 day stay - never received one or was contacted by staff. Truly disappointing. Food was bite size as entree and over priced. Other than preparing your own breakfast, there is only complimentary coffee and breakfast bread. We had all lunches and dinners off property. The pool is unheated and no one swam in it. To get to the beach you need to drive or shuttle to the beach. Towels, chairs, and umbrellas are provided on a first come-first served basis. Next stay we'll stay beachside to enjoy the full ambience of Maui.
