“Wonderful Room”
We stayed in Room 333 which was an excellent room. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've had in a hotel. The room was decorated very comfortably. The kitchen had all the basic needs covered. And we loved the balcony overlooking the quiet beach - for us it was a wonderful location without lots of people but easy access to anywhere on the island.
“Great Condo!”
We had a garden view condo. It was nicely decorated and very comfortable. It had everything you needed right there at your fingertips. You could rent boogie boards on the property, which was real nice and reasonably priced. the condo was centrally located and real close to an ABC Store! The only negative thing I could find was the fake green astro turf just as you walk in the door of each condo.
“Sugar Beach a good value”
Sugar Beach is a centrally located area a little North of Kihei. This location allows a 90 minute drive to the top of Haleakala and a 20 minute drive to the airport. There are plenty of dining options in the area without being too expensive (for Maui). The property is steps from the ocean on a white sandy beach. The unit itself was individually owned and rented out through a management firm. It was on the fifth floor, ocean front, single bedroom. I found it to be clean, comfortable and well equipped.
“The Best Hotel In Maui!”
This hotel surpassed my every expectation! The room was nicely decorated, spacious, very clean and air conditioned...the best you could get for your money!! I was relieved when I read that it was newly renovated because I just can't stand dirty, old hotel rooms. But not only was this room really clean, but it came furnished with pretty much everything you would need-dishes, cups, pots, pans, tons of towels and blankets, and even dvds and games. The outside was also beyond beautiful, being beachfront and with a lovely pool. I definitely want to go back to the same room, although I'd like to see what other rooms are like. Regardless, the next time I go to Maui, I will be re-visiting this hotel for sure!
“Would stay here again”
Pros: Beautiful view from the balcony. Comfortable chairs on balcony. Comfortable bed and sofa. GREAT CONCIERGE SERVICE. Seperate sink/mirror area. Didn't use the pool or hot tub, but it looked lovely. Cons: Carpet needed cleaned. Small toilet/shower area. Sofa material and comforter could use updated in PH26.
“Great place at a great price”
My husband & I just got back from our trip to Maui & without a doubt I would recommend this hotel to anyone! We originally booked a garden view room but when we got there, we found it was very dated & not very clean. We immediately called the rental agent & even though it was after hours, they sent someone out to show us some different rooms & even offered us an ocean front condo at a reduced rate. Needless to say we took that & it was wonderful. Not only did it have the towels, pots, pans etc, they owners even provided snorkels, fins, masks, beach mats, & beach chairs!!!. The condo was lovely, clean & had the most amazing view from the balcony. I would definitely recommend spending the extra for an ocean front room. Walking the beach every morning at sunrise was amazing!!! My husband & I are already planning our trip back for next year.
“Convenience and great location; can't wait to return.”
I was apprehensive after reading some less than positive reviews on this property. Still, I decided to take a chance due to its location and price. It was the best decision I made. This was my third time to Maui, and factoring in price, location and amenities, the Sugar Beach Resort tops the list of places I’ve stayed. It’s a bit isolated – you’ll need a car unless you buy groceries and stay put during your stay. But that’s offset by its excellent central crossroads location to the airport – 15 minutes – Lahaina 15-20 minutes - and Eastern Maui – Mt. Haleakala, 45 minutes to an hour. I had an oceanfront unit on the fourth floor; the waves were so loud that I had to close the glass doors (that’s how close it was to the water). Beautiful water view was tonic to this city dweller. Unit was equipped with everything you’ll need, including washer, dryer and full-fledged cable TV. All was in clean and excellent condition. Only slight negative – the best time to swim on the beach is in the morning; the waves got rough in the afternoon (and it got windy). Didn’t matter; the resort has a nice pool with a Jacuzzi. BTW, the beach bottom was sandy and not rocky, unlike other properties further south. There’s also a small convenience store nearby; Bob the owner was extremely helpful – and will have my eternal gratitude – for helping me with an unexpected, last-minute problem that allowed me to catch my flight on time. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended!
“Perfect for Us!!!!”
My husband and I stayed at Sugar Beach for our honeymoon. It was perfect!!! It was nice to have the kitchen to cook in and we felt like it was our own condo for the week....the view was incredible!!!! We listened to the waves all night long. The beach was beautiful and we enjoyed many hours boogy boarding and swimming as well as sun tanning. They had the boogy board there for us. The room was well stocked with supplies, more than we ever imagined. Very clean and homey. Only 2 complaints....the bed was very uncomfortable, ended up on the couch in the living room and needed a remodel...it is not the eighties anymore :). Centrally located, very nice....we were in the middle of everything. We would absolutely stay there again. They have a store on site as well as activities center, deli, clothing store. Very friendly staff. Only wish we could come back sooner!!!!
“Kihei Gem!”
We stayed in unit 226 and loved it. Great view, close to the pool and very comfortable for 2. Kihei is about 20 miles from Lahaina where most of the bigger attractions are but we found great little places in Kihei. The pool was a little small so if there are a couple families down there at once, it can be crowded. Overall, a great place to stay.
“A great place to stay!”
My wife and I stayed at the Sugar Beach Resort for our anniversary. We really like the place! It's quiet, other than hearing the surf, kick-backed, and the beach is just a few steps away. The water is not very clear but you can drive 5 minutes to other crystal clear beaches. The staf were very friendly and suggested some cool places to snorkel. We'll definitely be back!
