“CRH Sugar Beach”
Great oceanfront location.
“Nice beach location”
Wonderful location. We were in an Ocean Front condo on the second floor. Gorgeous ocean views (spoiled by some really old boats permanently parked in the middle of the ocean but that is a minor quibble). The great plus is the access to a private beach literally 100ft away from where you stay! You should definitely opt for the ocean front (instead of ocean view--where you get an ocean view from the lanai only). The extra price is well worth it. The condo were were in had a bedroom, a bathroom (shower only), a kitchen and a living room. You get great views of the ocean right from the living room. The condo is centrally air conditioned and had (wired) internet access. The property is somewhat old and you can tell that from the general condition and the fittings. Each condo is individually furnished by its owner and so the furnishing would vary from condo to condo. For our condo, the furnishings were a bit old, the appliances (except for the fridge and perhaps the washer-dryer) were quite old as well. The dishwasher works but is nearing end of its life. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back if we are in Maui again.
“"Disappointed"”
1. The maid services were an additional charge. 2. The furniture was very old worn and dirty 3. The rugs throughout were soiled and dirty to the point I rolled up the one in the living room and stored it behind the sofa. 4. The patio and patio furniture were filthy. We spent our first evening cleaning. 5. We called ahead and were told that the bedrooms had king sized beds, but when we arrived the rooms had full sized beds instead. 6. The entry door to our room was dirty with fingerprints. 7. The Patio had no outside lighting for the evening. Note: Only the pool and surrounding areas were kept very clean and maintained.
“Very nice”
Great location on the beach
“Sugar Beach Resort -”
We were looking for a sandy beach location with our condo on the same side of the beach so my older teenage kids would have access without having to cross a road or busy roadway. All 6 of us were pleased with our location. Pluses: Beach, Pool, View of Pool and Beach from our patio, Propane BBQ were easily accessible, clean and well maintained. Minus- Our stairwell and elevator were close to the trash bins, so coming in we could smell the garbage from time to time. I would definitely stay again at this condo if I had a large group in tow. This locations was great being on the north side of Kihei, making it quick to get to Lahaina or other adventures with car.
“Not in the vicinity of any activity that a tourist would likely want to do....eg, entertainment,”
I found the condo rental unit is not suitable for a tourist like me who is in Maui for the first time and would have liked to be at least close to some entertainment activity, shopping, etc. The reception staff had minimal ability to respond to any questions. Although I had requested for a 2 double bed room - I got a twin bed room. The sofa was old, faded and appeared dirty. The beach area at the facility did not look inviting and the water looked muggy. Also, I could not understand why the taxes were so high - I was charged for over $79 a night in taxes and fees for the room which did not even meet my needs. The place seemed quite isolated from anything.
“Wonderful Sugar Beach”
We just spent a week at Sugar beach in maui - what a wonderful experience ! The condo was magificent - directly on Sugar Beach itself - in South Kihei. It is directly in the heart of the beach area. Each morning, we would drive to a different beach and experience all that Maui has to offer. Fabulous restaurants and shopping are very close. We would highly recommend this location !!!
“Ocean Front, No-Frills”
I've never stayed at a place so close to the ocean in Maui- that is the best feature of Sugar Beach. You can hear the waves against the shore from the lanai. The resort is pretty quiet and chill, but with the balconies facing each other, low on privacy. Pool's nice. The room was comfortable, with good amenities, but like a lot of Maui a little dated.
“U get what U pay 4”
We found what we expected except for the discovery of a 6 legged cockroach, living in western Washington forgot they existed. But I don't have a problem living with wildlife they have to eat too. Vacationing on a budget causes one to make concessions so five star is outside of the that budget after all it was just a place to sleep and have breakfast and a few dinners so the condo severed its purpose and allowed us to spend more on doing things to enjoy the Maui than on accommodations. My only complaint was that it was over all too soon.
“Dirty room”
The room overall was nice...BUT the carpeting was filthy!! My husband walked around in his stocking feet and they were BLACK after only a couple of hours. The "pocket door" that closed off the toilet and shower had MOLD on the outside of the door and there was SO much soapy/mildew on the faucets fixtures and handles on the shower door I didn't even want to touch it. The positive things were the wonderful view and the surrounding area. The pool was very nice!!!
