“If you want old Hawaii this is the place for you!”
This was the second time we were here and again we enjoyed our stay. Try this hotel if you want to experience Maui for its history and Aloha. No frills, no fluff, and no stuffy personalities. We will come back to this home of Aloha. Great for budget travelers and those who don't need all the frills.
“Wish we could live there.”
This place was way beyond our expectations!
“LOVED this hotel, clean comfortable”
Loved our experience it was awesome..from checking in for our flights, to the car rental ..and the hotel all was simply awesome.
“Great!”
I really like this hotel. I've stayed there twice. It is an old style Hawaiian hotel on beautiful grounds across from the beach. It is not a fancy resort but meets your basic needs. I personally do not like the big high rises and have no use for their very expensive amenities. I do not know what the other reviews are complaining about. My only complaint is they are erratic about the coffee. The hotel put coffee makers in the room but only gives you the coffee packets on alternate days. I did complain since I paid for each day. There is coffee in the lobby though.
“Aston Maui Lu was our perfect home away from home”
My family - 2 adults, 12 year old and 10 year old - spent 14 nights at the Maui Lu in Kihei and loved it. We stayed across the street right on the ocean front and felt like we had our own private beach access. The hotel is older but immaculately clean. The little beach couldn't be nicer and they even keep beach chairs out for you to use. Staff were friendly, coffee was good, craft projects were thought out and fun. Even have a "sharing" box to use things previous travelers have donated. We picked up boogie boards, cooler and sand mats for the beach. Beautiful, huge (30+ foot long) pool. We stayed an extra 4 days on our trip because of the great deal at the hotel. Highly recommend if you can do with out all the extra's. (no room service or even a restaurnat) Big fridge in the room and microwave in the lobby to reheat leftovers. We would go back in a heartbeat.
“Would definitely stay here again!”
I had read reviews so didn't expect a anything fancy. We were pleasantly surprised. Yes the hotel is older and a little worn. But it was very comfortable and the staff were all friendly and helpful and the grounds, view and location were perfect. We wanted a smaller hotel on the ocean and we did not plan to spend much time in our room. We reserved a deluxe ocean view room and were very pleased with it. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in when traveling. We stayed 10 days to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We were in room 507 and rented a Harley. There was a grill outside our room and we made use of it several nights after a long day of riding. We met and made friends with a number of other guests (many from Canada: Hi Jean and Shirley! and several from the states: Hi Louise, Charlie and wife, Dawn and Joe!) It was an amazing vacation and we plan to come back with our kids and stay at the Maui Lu again.
“Great place to stay!”
I was very impressed with Aston Maui Lu . The staff there were very helpful with suggesting places to see and eat at. It was in a great location. The rooms were very clean as well as the grounds. I would definately recommend this hotel to others.
“Amazing location, upgrade to ocean front, esp w kids”
We truly enjoyed the Mai Lu. The front desk was extremely helpful and we had great service. Our room was just what we needed, not paying for the fluff of a vacation resort. Why pay high prices elsewhere when you spend hardly any time in your room?? We upgraded to ocean front and it was worth the little extra! We were so close to the waves. We had the cove on one side of us and beach on the other. It was great to be able to have our 6 yr old wake up and hit the beach, 1st thing! And, they have an outdoor shower to rinse...Expect geckos. They are fun to see. Unless you abs have to take the laptop, leave it home. They have 2 pay as you go computers in the lobby. They also have a share box. We used the boogie board, noodle, and sand pails and shovels, all for free. And, we left our fishing pole for the next family to use. They also have a church and laundromat on the resort. The pool is large and clean. We had a fridge and kept milk, bought cereal and saved on going out for bfast. Also bought bread and goober pb & jelly, saved money on lunches or snacks. Stay at the Maui Lu.
“Great location! Ocean front room worth extra money. More like motel than hotel. Great place.”
Great ocean front room, pool area is great. Office was across the street with pool, but not a big deal. Staff was extremely helpful and nice. Rooms were older and more like motel, but clean and ocean front!!
“Can't wait to go back”
The staff at the hotel were wonderful. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was in a easy location to get anywhere. The hotel had a wonderful charm and calmness about it very relaxing, not fancy but comfortable. If we ever get the chance to go back we will stay here.
