“Affordable Seaside Resort”
We have stayed here 3 times during the last 20 years. It is an affordable seaside resort in a convenient location. Our room was setup as a studio apartment . We had kitchen facilities, plenty of room, and a decent bed. We enjoyed our stay. The staff is friendly and efficient. We like the swimming pools and the beach. There are several excellent restaurants a few miles north of here and a grocery store within walking distance. We did not like the extra fees (for parking and facilities), and we were disturbed by parking lot construction work during our latest stay. The poolside bar and restaurant are adequate, but unremarkable.
“Plan to go back in year 2013 again.”
This was our 2nd time staying at Kaanapali Shores. Excellent service and very accomodating. All in all it was a very pleasant stay. Thank you!
“Good value for money.”
I was looking for a place to stay right off of the Kaanapalli beach. The name confued me . It is a bit far from main Kaanapalli beach. Not walkable distance. There is a beach right in front of the hotel although it is not as good as Kaanapalli beach. If you are planning to stay right off of Kaanapalli beach, this is not the place. Otherwise, it is an OK place to stay. Good if you are travelling with kids. Full kitchen was very useful.
“Not as good as last year”
The Kaanapali Shores hotel has been our first choice in years past. I'm sorry to say that the hotel has started to cut back on the little things that has made this resort so nice to stay at. Some of the little things that i've noticed are, you can no longer get pool towels at the turtle pool, you either have to wait in line at the front desk or walk to the pool by the beach. Another issue we had was with the quality of the WiFi, last year there was no problem with speeds but this year it was painfully slow to non existent. I have to caution the potential buyers that if you qualify for "kids eat free" you not be informed about it and the employees at the resort are asked by management not to promote this as explained by a staff member at the resort restaurant. During check in I told Harry that I was traveling with two children, all I was given was a beach ball. Last but not least is the newly imposed resort fee, it's brutal. $10 per night for a newspaper, access to the safe and a movie system that provides you with scratched movies that work half the time. Don't get me wrong, I love the resort but the changes that have been implemented within the last year drop the quality substantially. Because of these issues I will be looking else ware for accommodations. During our stay we were at the Shores with two other families 10 in total and we all had the same opinion of the changes. Note to management, you have a top quality resort that your ruining.
“FANTASTIC STAY”
Enjoyed this hotel more than any I've stayed at. Great snorkeling, beautiful gardens, great rooms, good food at restaurant, nice beach.
“Just okay.”
This is our second time at this resort. It would be fine for a large group, but nothing going on without leaving the area otherwise. Lahaina is not very far away and there is night life there. Hotels in the Wailea area are much nicer and more to do at night. It's Hawaii, a hut would be fine with me.
“Large and convenient to nice beach”
Room was larger than we expected. Layout was very convenient for our family with 2 young kids. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and our kids slept in the living area. There was plenty of room for us to hang out during the day and easy for us to set up the bed for the kids at night. Beach was just beyond the pools making it really easy for us to get the kids out. The kitchen was very usable though all the pots and pans were non-teflon.
“Honeymoon Gift”
I purchased a room in this hotel as part of a Honeymoon package for my son and daughter-in-law. When they arrived and the staff learned that they were on their honeymoon, they were ugraded at no coast to a suite that looked out on the ocean because the hotel was still off-season before Thanksgiving. My son was thrilled with the accommodations and nice staff. A hospitality sutie was provided after they had checked out so they could leave their luggage and enjoy the beach, and then shower before their 10pm flight home.
“Awesome Maui adventure!”
Service was outstanding from the initial aloha to the exiting mahola. Hotel/resort was updated, clean and had everything we were looking for. Our room with the kitchen is really is way to go, nicely set up with alot of room to cook, dine and move around in. Service was great. Had an ocean side massage (a must do!!) top notch therapist. Husband took advantage of the free scuba classes, then ventured onto a couple dives with the instructor. Very good class, good dive, price was reasonable. We loved our 'belated' honeymoon at the Aston and would love to go back :)
“Great Hotel, Great Restaurant and Great Services”
My husband and I visited the Aston Kaanapali on November 3-12, 2011. We requested a "room with a view" and were given a room, 926 in the Pent House Suite for no extra cost. It had a full size regrigerator, dish washer, and stove. It also had a washer and dryer (how nice - something we did not expect and were very grateful for). We were always treated with courtesy, never refused whatever we needed and were given a free pass to rent movies, a great restaurant, swimming pool, great parking services and provided choices for adventures at a great price. We hope you stay and enjoy your trip as well as we did. Mahalo and Aloha to the staff and Maui. WE LOVED IT! Tony and Dianne
