Hotel Marion

“Nice hotel for the price. Lots of character and charm.”

The only thing I would change is the TV set up. Since that is about all we do in a hotel room at night, I think every hotel should have a dvd in each room.

“Much better”

A lot of the reviews online were really negative but i thought this hotel was a good value. While its definitely not a new building and the worn carpet in some places and 'wierd' smelling elevator was dissapointing, the service was good and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The way I see it, you cant expect big city perfection from a small town hotel, but cleanliness and basic comfort is a must so it was nice to get it here. Last time i spent a night in Marion I paid just 15 less and ended up in a dump of a place, so it pays to choose wisely.

“Satisfactory hotel for price”

This hotel seems to have been a Sheraton in the past, and perhaps changed hands when most of the "action" in Marion moved elsewhere. The lobby was a bit shabby, but the staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfy. The only downside was hearing a couple of train horns late in the evening. Also, you have to drive a couple of miles to restaurants or the highway.

“OK for a really quick stay”

This hotel is just OLD. The bed was comfy and the shower was nice, but I was afraid to take my shoes off on the carpet. If you are staying for a few hours, go for it. Longer than that, I would not recommend it. The train as noted in some other reviews are dead on. 3 times through the night, it sounded like it was in the room with me.

“Would NEVER go back”

The entire building smelled of mold. There was mildew in the dresser drawers and on the shower curtain. A hole in the wall with ants swarming. Exterior not mowed and weedy. No restaurant on premises as advertised. Desk clerk was friendly but unhelpfull in solving any issues.

“really disappointed”

The glass pitcher with the coffee maker in my room was broken and had jagged glass where the spout had been broken. The cups in the room to drink out of were not wrapped and had hair in them. The bed seemed clean. The location was between two highways and you could clearly hear semi truck stopping and taking off at the stop lights on both sides. A train went past the hotel several times a night

“not impressed”

Hotel staff tried to be helpful, but nothing to work with. Hallway dim, rug coming up, card key kept failing. No restaurant, a few expensive snacks behind lobby counter. Rooms need to be painted and cleaned from floor to ceiling. Hotel needs to be refurbished totally. We chose it because they allow smoking, and my husband smokes. Regardless, next time we visit Marion, we will select a different, non-smoking hotel.
