“Great Experience”

The hotel was very nice. Very professional and personable staff truly appear to care about your comfort. The room was very comfortable. Being American, it was nice to have a shower head. Very nicely appointed rooms. Restuarant was good and offered "theme" nights - I enjoyed the Maltese cuisine. Breakfasts, especially compared to anything in an American hotel, was SPECTACULAR, but then again that is one of the ways that Europe really tops the United States. Great experience, great location, great staff, and Malta itself is a wonderful place to be.

“A lovely hotel and a luxurious getaway”

The Grand Excelsior is grand is every sense of the word. A large hotel with a grand entrance (albeit without a sign!) We were welcomed with cool towels and a drink at check-in. A sign of good things to come we hoped. And we were not disappointed. Despite our room being an "in-land view" room, we had a spectacular half-view of the harbour and the city. The room was well-equipped, luxurious (chocolates on our pillows), and even a toothbrush and showercap in the bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. The swimming pool was fantastic, the Sat night Med buffet at 30EURO each was simply fantastic. The selection of food, the live music and the friendly staff in addition to the stunning sunset view, made for a romantic and inspirational meal :-) I would definitely go back to The Grand Excelsior.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the excelsior. The quality of the building and rooms are exceptional. The staff were more than happy to help and made you feel special. We had a few hiccups with the breakfast and room service not being carried on time but were heavily compensated for all errors! Some of the pool waiter staff were a bit slow with service however the pool and weather made it unimportant! The rooms are spacious and the air-conditioning easily cooled the room. Room service and the mini-bars tend to be expensive however we felt that the prices were exceptional for a 5 star!

The hotel was in a great location with a great view of the med.sea .Chefs were very good we had a gret time.One plus it was near the historic town and also near other eating places.

“Best in Malta”

Best hotel in Malta. Still not quite finished and some service around the pool left space for improvement but on the whole a very luxurious hotel and most of the staff couldnt do enough for us. Breakfast was lovely, all you could think of and very comfortable surroundings.

“Malta's best hotel?”

In my opinion the hotel in a very good 4* hotel not quite 5*'s. The same things that let in down slightly are the attention to fine details such as the finishing in the bathroom. Such things as the rough grouting and sealing around doors and fittings. The shower door didn't fit properly, water leaked out onto the floor. The shower runs a little hot then a little cold. It's nit picking but that's the differences between 5* and a good 4*. Having said that I would not hesitate to return or to recommend the place. The service was extremely good, the food is fabulous, the staff courteous and helpful, the location and views wonderful. The prices in the hotel are not cheap but they are not extortionate and reflect the service and quality you receive. Within walking distance of he capital city of Valletta, though there are quite a few steps to climb. If you are looking for a very nice place to stay in Malta this is it.
