"Beautiful countryside, lovely old Hotel"
From first look to lasting impression, this historic Hotel was a pleasure to experience. The setting is lovely, in a tiny village close to Chippenham and not far from Bath. The landlord is absolutely charming and the staff welcoming and helpful. Although the place is under refurbishment, this in no way detracted from it's comfort and friendly atmosphere.

"Lovely Farmhouse B&B"
In the great tradition of English farmhouse B&Bs. In a pleasant country village, but within easy striking distance of the motorway. Short walk to the village pub - always a plus. Pleasant, unfussy hosts. Spacious rooms. All in all good value for money.

"Looks Great, Service Slightly Disappointing"
My wife and I recently stayed at the Neeld Arms, as nearby Bath was fully booked and we needed to be in Bath early on the Sunday morning. The building was beautiful to look at, promising much on arrival. We had an OK stay but would not return. We took bed and breakfast and stayed for an evening meal. The top floor bedroom was spacious and not too cold though it was chilly outside. The large double bed proved creaky and uncomfortable: we both had backache next morning. The bathroom was fine: water was roasting and shower pressure was good, but very cramped with a wooden ceiling beam set (disconcertingly) right at head height. Evening meal was very disapppinting. Given that we were paying guests in the biggest room, the squint table by the toilet door was a let down - even worse when you had to locate it yourself. It's a forgotten corner of the bar and our service proved just that. I had to go to the bar to collect my own drink, and the wife's wine was served in a glass plastered in lipstick. Food was not great - my whitebait was the worst I have ever tasted and the rest was amateur. I don't mean charming amateur. The redeeming feature was breakfast, which was shambolic in organisation - managed by a new starter with no training, and accompanied by a noisy dishwasher switched on after we sat down - but the food was really excellent. I'd recommend the Neeld Arms for a quick overnight stay, but only if you're easy-going.

"Nice value for money B&B."
Nice value for money b&b. situated close to the train station and the town centre. Single room tidy and comfortable. A little bit disappointed with breakfast. The croissant I ordered was very small. Diana was nice and helpful. The other lady that I saw in the morning was very friendly as well. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an affordable place to stay.

"Pretty traditional pub, excellent accommodation."
After extensive research and reading various reviews, my husband and I decided this would be a perfect place to spend a night away. We had stayed in Castle Combe last year and were keen to return to the area. We had had lunch in the area and a lovely long walk. When we arrived at The Old House,we were pleased with our choice. The pub had a lovely feel, very traditional and loved the lit candles in wine bottles on each table. Although we had no plans to eat later, we decided to pop in to the pub later that eve for a bottle of wine. The accommodation is quite motel like,in the fact that the 6 rooms are housed in a single storey building separate and and to the side of the pub-steep steps up from the car park. Not a problem for us but could be. The rooms are compact but fitted to a high standard and we loved the wet room-wanted to take it home. Coffee machine was fun and managed hot chocolate, coffee and tea!!! This is a chain of three. One other has accommodation that I think looks better as within the main building and not far away in Box nr Bath. I would definitely like to try this one. My only gripe is that we were unable to access the internet at all during our stay, even double checking the password with a member of staff. We just accepted this and enjoyed the peace and quiet but this may be a problem for some. There is no picturesque view either, so although very enjoyable would probably not go back. The pub was very busy in the evening, the food looked good.
