"Classic hotel in a great location!"
We had a fantastic stay at the Millennium Knickerbocker. It reminded me of NY's classic hotels -- great atmosphere and great lobby bar. The concierge was spot on with recommendations for where to eat and what to do, as well as strategic planning so we did them all in the smartest order. She even remembered our quirky specifications the next day when she asked how things went. We would definitely stay again.

"Very Pleased in Chicago"
I have a go to hotel in Chicago but decided to give Sofitel a try since my hotel was booked. I was very pleased and will certainly come back. Great location. Spacious and well designed room. Very clean and a nice staff. I was surprised to learn the hotel was over 5 years old as I thought based on the condition that is was brand new. Very pleased.

"Awesome location! Great design."
I absolutely LOVED my stay. The staff at the front desk was nice. The room, even being a bit of the smaller size, was great. Flat-screen TV, great bed, and, my favorite, the shower. True, it doesn't give you much privacy, but it wasn't an issue for me personally, so I enjoyed the design. The whole place had a chill vibe to it - much preferred instead of the big fancy hotels. Oh, and the location is amazing!

"Nice "boutique" hotel in great location"
By "boutique", I mean a non-chain hotel that has some character. The Whitehall is almost directly across the street from the Four Seasons, about a block west of the Hilton Chicago and the Hancock Tower, and a block west and south of the venerable Drake Hotel. In other words, you're in a great spot among some heavy hitters, and -- if our experience was any indication -- you won't pay the heavy hitter prices. Of course, the accommodations aren't swanky like those places, but if you're okay with a nice smaller hotel and don't care about not having a pool and a really fancy restaurant on site, this is a great choice. The Red Line is about two blocks west and south, and Michigan Ave. (where several buses run) is a half block) to the east, so getting around downtown and beyond is easy and accessible. The 18 mile-long Chicago Lakefront trail is about three blocks to the northeast (just past the Drake), so if you like to walk, run, bike, etc., you're close to that as well. There are two restaurants "attached" to the Whitehall on the first floor (meaning you don't have to leave the building to get to them). We ate at the Japanese restaurant the night we arrived because we were in a rush to get to a show - it was nothing to write home about, but did in a pinch. The Italian restaurant seemed way overpriced - for breakfast anyway -- but I can't say anything about the food. You are close to several good restaurants on Rush Street, a half a block west and 2-3 blocks north.

"Central hotel for first-time visitors"
Such a lovely hotel, definitely would stay here again! Our first trip to Chicago, so we were looking to be very central to the main touristy bits, rather than in a trendy neighbourhood. This hotel fit the bill perfectly, being only a few blocks from the Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier. The staff were superb, from front of house to housekeeping, to the lovely doormen. For example, we had an issue with the hotel safe as soon as we arrived, and someone was there to fix it within 5 minutes of reporting the problem. We used the very informed and friendly concierge to book a great boat trip (we had booked one before we arrived but it was cancelled due to the cold weather, however the concierge knew of another company that had just started running that day, and who were very good). The room was lovely - both clean and more spacious than we expected (being used to NYC rooms). We didn't use the minibar, but didn't find it to be as expensive as some. There was also room in the fridge for our own water, which lots of hotels don't make any allowance for. The bar was lovely (we didn't eat in the hotel due to the huge range of other options in the city), only small thing was that we we looking forward to bacon "handwiches" from the on-site Bacon Bar for breakfast, but it doesn't open until 11am. Overall, an excellent stay, and unquestionably would make the effort to come here again!

"Great location & wonderful hotel."
Love the location, friendly staff & comfortable hotel. They thoughtfully left a small box of truffles on my bed as a welcome w/ a note. I loved it. The truffles looked liked they'd been traveling in a hot car so I didn't eat them but can imagine if they weren't melted & smooshed they would have been delish. The only complaint was the TVs on the treadmills in the gym. They don't work so it hampered my workout. What can I say I like to watch & walk.

"Fantastic hotel. Perfect location."
We stayed in this hotel whilst visiting our daughter who is living in Chicago for her year out (3rd year) of uni of Birmingham. Recently renamed and refurbished, Hotel Chicago offers great value for money (via Expedia) and the perfect location for exploring Chicago. Rooms were a generous size for a city hotel and well appointed. The real selling point though is the staff, particularly the doormen/bell boys who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Thank you Chicago; you're a fantastic city!
