“Excellent Hotel”

“A Haven”

Situated up a hill on the outskirts of Madurai you'll have to budget for expensive hotel car transfers into town, but it's worth it for the incredible views, impeccable service, gorgeous rooms and resident peacocks. This is a lovely hotel, perfect for recharging the batteries and preparing for another day in a bonkers Indian city.

“Madurai's Best Hotel”

This is my 6th time in Madurai and first time at the Gateway -- this is by far the best place to stay. The grounds are magical, peacocks walking about. Room was comfortable and clean with the sitting area full glass overlooking the lush/green grounds. My one complaint is that they do not provide proper facilities for the drivers. They give them a muddy, mosquito infested lot to sleep inside of their car with no proper bathroom. We ended up providing an alternative for our driver -- this shows they are missing core values. The breakfast and dinner buffets were fresh, healthy and tasty. Staff was exceptional.

“Madurai lay over”

This is a magnificant old world resort on a hill over looking the city. Fit for a Queen and Queen Elzabeth did stay here. This is my ideal for luxury in south India.

“Très bon hôtel mais un peu bruyant”

Notre chambre executive était très grande et très bien entretenue, le service impécable. Elle était malheureusement située sous la terrasse qui comporte un restaurant et il était impossible de dormir avant 1h du matin. Par ailleurs la proximité d'un temple avec des musiques de cérémonie très fortes dès 5h du matin rendaient le sommeil de courte durée.

“Average”

Eventhough they provide a welcome with Jasmine flower, the mattress are hard (not international standard). Also the food is average.
