“Modern, SPACIOUS rooms”
Location was great -- walkable to Plaza Espana, Gran Via, the Palace, and even Plaza del Sol. Very close to subway stop (about 2 blocks). Madrid was our last stop after visiting Barcelona for 5 days and Valencia for 2; it was nice to end our trip at a truly comfortable room. The staff spoke English very well and were very helpful, although the first staff we encountered was a bit more "cold" (probably just his personality?). Another plus -- when we exited our train at Chamartin, we found out the Metro stop there was closed, which freaked us out as our only plan was to take the Metro (dark purple line) all the way south to Plaza Espana station (to minimize having to switch lines with our luggages on us). The lady there didn't speak any English, and after we told her we were trying to reach Plaza Espana, she suggested us to take the autobus. We didn't want to take the bus since we knew it would be quite confusing, not being able to speak Spanish, evening rush hour, etc. Instead, we took the train from Principle Pio station (which was a LONG trip, about 45 minutes (it routes into the suburbs), but thankfully the station was only a 5-10 minute walk to the hotel. A bit of a detour, but at least it was another option we had, as our options were running out. Lastly, the rooms were extremely SPACIOUS for even North American standards. The street is a bit quiet, but the next street over has a lot of restaurants and people -- the area was very safe.
“Great location, nice hotel & great value”
close to downtown madrid .... walking distance
“Clean, Great Location, Very good value”
This hotel is in a Very good location. It is only a couple blocks from a major square, and only a block from many parks. A short walk to the Palace and subway stops. It is a basic room, but has all the necessities. Very clean and the maid service was prompt and efficient. Free internet access in the lobby, as well as a fee breakfast in the lobby (a little pricey, but convenient). Very quiet, but across the street from a school. Did not require a car at all. Either walked, or took the subway everywhere.
“Excellent choice for young couples”
An excellent choice for couples and small families. Conveniently located just several hundred meters from Plaza de Espana and Palacio Real (Royal Palace), the hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but has a lot to offer inside. The specious lobby looks very modern and the stuff is friendly and speaks good English. A computer in the lobby offers an access to the Internet but those with laptop computers can free wi-fi (ask the stuff for a password). Our room was large enough for two, quiet, very clean and had a nice kitchenette with a cooking range and (if I remember correctly) microwave. The decor was on the minimalistic side but we found it attractive. The bathroom was clean and modern although the location of the toilet was a bit bizarre (right behind the door). All in all, a thumbs up from me.
“Good.”
Good, but spotty wifi and small bathroom, especially if your over 6 foot. Well situated, a 2 min walk to the city bus tour stop and a 5 min walk to the metro. Metro to the airport, 4,50 euros and takes 20-25 mins. Cafe Viena next door to the hotel, is a good place to get coffe and a bite to eat.
