“Very Comfortable”
The Opera is an extremely comfortable hotel with an ideal location just 5 minutes from Sol. It is very friendly. The beds are extremely comfortablr and I had my best nights sleep for ages. My only criticism is the condition of the walls which needed looking at but I would throughly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Madrid
“Larger room than the normal EU hotel room”
We stayed at the Opera, first for one week then travelled to BCN then back for one night. Our stay was very pleasant... Staff was more than helpful and very friendly. Lots of "Hola!". IF we go back to Madrid, we're staying here again Last words, MUY BIEN!
“Quality Hotel”
Quality hotel in central location with good service - thoroughly recomend.
“Hotel Opera: A great urban neighborhood”
We loved the location- close to the Royal Palace, surrounding parks, the Royal Theater (Opera), many of Madrid's principal plazas, and good cafes and restaurants. The room (a triple) was comfortable and had heavy blackout curtains to keep it quieter at night. You need that, because there is lots of street noise and lots of street repair going on. Staff was courteous. Special find was a Barclay's bank ATM a block away that charged no fees and gave a great exchange rate (for Bank of America customers). No place to pull up a car, so not a great hotel to load or unload if traveling by auto.
“Very convenient location!”
Pretty nice hotel, very conveniently located. Bed sheets and towels impecably clean, but the floors were never mopped while we were there. Also, they probably dust the furniture only once a month! Otherwise, friendly personnell and a very good breakfast. Don't make any phone calls from the rooms though! They charged us $75 for a 5 minute call to USA (that is $15/min). We have never paid such a rate on a phone call to USA from anywhere in the world. Overall however we were happy with it.
“Good basic tour sleep-over hotel”
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good with a variety of food choices. Rooms were adequate, but spartain in furnishing (no alarm clocks). Great location next to a Metro station, 3 blocks to the Palace Real, & 1 block to the tour bus office. Close walk to the Old Madrid touring sights and shopping locations. The only negative we experienced was that although the hotel advertizes a "free" shuttle service to the airport they in fact charge 20 Euros(for 2 people) to the hotel bill.
“We recommend this hotel/Friendly staff”
We were pleased to find friendly hotel staff. The hotel is close to the Opera metro station, restaurants, and sightseing spots. The room was not luxurious, but basic, clean, and comfortable. However, they do not have irons in the rooms. You might be able to borrow one for an hour. Also, they do not have enough hangers in the closet, but I guess that is common in Europe. The breakfast buffet was included (juices, milk, coffee, cold meats, pastries, cereals, fruits, no hot food), and it was good overall. My wife was happy with the services provided which exceeded what we paid for our stay. We recommed this hotel.
“Bien placé mais....”
Très bien placé à quelques dizaines de mètres du palacio Réal,en face de l'opéra et très proche de la plaza Mayor,très bon petit déjeuner mais pas de climatisation et de double vitrage donc bruyant.Le ménage des chambres est médiocre
“Great location in Madrid”
Only five minutes to Plaza de Sol on a pedestrian street, seven minutes to Plaza Mayor. One minute to Plaza Orient which is next to the Royal Palace. The Opera Metro stop is right outside, three stops to the Metro near the Prado and museum row. Very helpful English speaking staff Daniel on the front desk. Clean, basic, free Internet, over priced but huge bfast buffet. Ask for a higher floor to reduce noise as with all hotels. The upgraded rooms on floor 8 and 9 can be negotiated for some days and are worth for quiet and upgraded linens and space. 804 has a wrap around private balcony where you can sunbathe nude.
“Heavenly nights with the comforts of home”
i went to Spain to meet the man of my dreams.. The hotel provided everything needed to stay in bed and snuggled up for the whole weekend. i didnt get to sight see but since when is that a bad thing!
