“Hotel Astor”
Stayed in the annexe of the Hotel, initially we thought this would not be as good as the main Hotel, which we have stayed in numerous times, but have to say, was far better. Would request this room again. First class.
“Would go back!!”
Didn't really know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was so clean! The staff couldn't do enough for their guests especially the restaurant staff. The reception let us stay until 7pm on our last day, at no extra cost, even though the official check out time was midday! (We had a late flight home) and nothing was too much trouble. The maids cleaned our rooms twice a day and the cleaniness was second to none! There were many little extras as well, all which helped to make it a thoroughly pleasant stay. I would definitely come to this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone.
“Très bon rapport qualité/prix”
Bien situé, rien à redire sur le service !
“Great Hotel”
We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean. The desk assistance was great. The person slippers were a nice addition. Yes, we would recommend the hotel to our friends and to our travel agent brother and sister-in-law.
“Fantastic service in Astor, Viareggio”
We had booked a basic room but were given a huge room, a suite really, balcony + great view. Bed was enormous, huge bathroom, fluffy bath robes, slippers. Towels changed am and pm, bed turned down, chocolates left. Room with vestibule entrance, had table+chairs, sofa, 3 wardrobes and ample drawers. Cont' breakfast was selection of hot croissants, cereals etc. Astor has small gym, spa, turkish bath, steamroom),jacuzzi, sauna and great indoor pool. Spa traeatments available + reasonable. On roof is loungers + huge cushions though roof is not pretty,is good for sunbathing. Astor has arrangements with 2 of the private beaches across the road, cost 15 euros - 2 deckchairs and 1 parasol, includes use of the outdoor pools as well, extra 7 euros for sunloungers instead of deckchairs. Good value, includes changing chalets, showers with towels and toiletries, onsite restaurant and boardwalks to sea. Reception staff spoke English. Great prom - can walk into Lido de Camaiore, if you're keen on walking. From Astor train station is within walking distance, takes 25-30 mins. Bus terminal is slightly less. Trains are cheap and reliable. In same direction of the train station you will find a market area with lots of stalls selling everything. Also a weekly market on the front prom on Thursday mornings. Also on front are a number of lovely designer stores, open very late, plenty restaurants, pizzerias, fast food places etc. Viareggio much busier at weekends. Overall-very pleased with this holiday.
“everything and more than I expected”
The hotel was really near the beach. It was clean and tidy and offered everything you could need. Breakfast was good, although no Bacon !! I must add we did get lucky and had an upgraded sea front room.
“Hotel we would return to”
Enjoyed the hotel. Lovely room facing the beach wonderful sunsets, sitting out on balcony. Unfortunately sauna etc was not in use due to work outside? Good modern hotel. Breakfast could have had more fresh produce.Position of hotel was perfect. Would return.
“Great location in middle of beach promenade”
We stayed in the annex which was a little suite with two TVs, a nice bathroom and comfy beds with designer linens. No view of beach but we paid $150 less than if we had a delux beach view. We had lovely included buffet breakfast with good cappuccino etc. on the terrace with great sea view and discounted rate at the beach for chair rental and umbrella for two. Had little cafe at beachside and pool there. You pay for pool and extras. Across from hotel is a fabulous restaurant called Casablanca. Area has lots of discos and designer shops. This is mostly a resort for Italians, not very international but wonderful place for sun, sea and relaxation. In June it was a well-heeled older crowd but in summer the young flock to it.
“Good Hoel”
The hotel was clean and comfortable and ideally situated. The room allocated to us was very spacious, considering we had a extra bed for our daughter put in. Breakfast choice was good. The hotel as it mentions has had a facelift, however some areas within the hotel still remains dated. Due to our stay being late in the season, the bar area was not operational in the evenings. Generally we had a nice stay, and it met our expectations not too shabby and not too grand.
“Contemporary and comfortable”
The room was clean. Beds are comfortable and linen is changed daily, towels twice a day and there is a turndown service. There was a safe in the room and a mini-bar but no courtesy facilities. There was a hairdryer. Bathroom had shower over the bath and plentiful complimentary toiletries. The front end staff weren't very forthcoming but efficient. The staff in the breakfast room were fine. The breakfast was continental and was very good. The pool and gym were a bit limited but there are two lifts. Walls are thin - we could clearly hear next door!
