“great place”
we were very happy with this hotel it was very close to our itenerary mostly impressed with the comfort in our room we would highly recommended to anyone visiting lourdes
“hotel de la grotte, best thing about lourdes”
the hotel is very good, & we were lucky to have a balcony room. its the best thing about lourdes which is tacky & very commercial.
“Hotel with character”
We have been to this hotel twice now and would go back again. It has loads of character but I could see that it would not be to everyone's taste. It has an aura of faded splendour and the room decor/ furniture is old fashioned. Our bathroom was newly decorated and very clean although there were some vagaries with the French plumbing. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and we would rate them very highly. They also spoke good English. The restaurant is excellent if pricy, but we had the best meal of our whole holiday there. Breakfast is good although there is a baker's right opposite if you want a cheaper version. The hotel is very conveniently situated in the middle of the town, although beware of the 1 way system if you are driving there. So, some old world charm and character - and very friendly. American tour parties stay here for the Tour de France, so it is used to catering for English speakers.
“Good Lourdes option”
Lovely old hotel, very good staff, good breakfast, very convenient location. Good value for money!
“Room with a spectacular view”
We are quite surprise with the cleanliness of hotel room, and the room has a spectacular view.
“Unique experience”
This hotel is not part of a chain so is unique in every respect. This can very good or the opposite, possibly dependant on your mood and expectations. For 4 stars, the deluxe rooms do not meet expectations. The furniture is old although the bathrooms and toilets have been refurbished. We have stayed here 4 times and return for the familiarity and convenience. Improvements have been made since we first stayed while other aspects are unchanged. Prices have gone up so while it used to be very good value this is more questionable now. We come here to follow the Tour de France and it is a very convenient location for this purpose. Also very convenient for central Lourdes, with a wide variety of shops nearby, plus religious centres. Many US tour parties use the hotel - and have done so for many years. It is "old" traditional France - the public areas are ornate but comfortable, the bedrooms, not so ornate. Facilities - fridge and mini bar in room, but no kettle No air conditioning but balcony, with fresh air available - can be hot in the summer Internet access excellent - no Service Provider required, straight onto hotel wireless Parking is available but a challenge - it's not regulated and space can be at a premium and quite tight. A good and pleasant restaurant - although not cheap. Pleasant and helpful staff.
“Beautiful view ; but needs updating”
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel mostly because of the fabulous location and spectacular view from our balcony of the River Gave and the Lourdes sanctuary. The Hotel is old European style with a dark lobby and dated room furnishings, but it was clean. The walls and floors are very thin and it was difficult to sleep because of noise from adjacent rooms. The hotel and restaurant staff was friendly and very helpful. Overall, it was a good place to stay and we would probably stay there again.
“bel hôtel mais chambres à rafraichir ainsi que salle de bain”
cet hôtel a besoin de rafraichir ses chambres et ses salles de bain qui sont toutefois correctes
“The real Faulty Towers”
This hotel has got to be one of the most over rated hotels. I could not believe this hotel was given a 4 star rating, more like a 2 star. The rooms and hotel in general are in need of much renovation. Walking into this hotel just reminded me of stepping onto the set of Faulty Towers, with a zainy man trying to act all posh behind the desk.
“Not impressed”
First impression on entering was that the hotel was very tired and in need of much TLC. Room was clean but decor was again very tired and poor. For some reason on our first day our shower curtain was removed and despite several requesta was not replaced.
