“Great place - we'll definitely be going back!”
Everyone at the hotel was pleasant and helpful. Any request was responded to immediately. Example: a palm frond was brushing the roof of the room one night, waking us up off and on all night when the wind was blowing. We mentioned it the next day and by the time we got back from breakfast the errant palm frond had been trimmed. The restaurant food and drinks were good and the ambiance was perfect, dining either inside or outside. Excellent Sunday brunch. And the hotel is located right in the center of the historic district which had a variety of restaurants and shops all withineasy walking distance (some right next door).
“Nice hotel in the middle of San Jose's centro”
We were surprised by the loveliness of the hotel, especially given the good price. Beautiful Mexican furnitire in the lobby and restaurant, OlMec statues and palms around the pool. My wife had a fabulous two hour massage and facial at a bargain price. Decent (free) continental breakfast in the pleasant patio near the street. Recommended!
“Glad we came!”
Torn between a big hotel at the beach and this hotel in town, we decided there was more to do in town. Glad we came here. Great service, nice pool, excellent restaurant, right in the middle of downtown. The price was quite reasonable. We might get the suite next time. We'll be back soon.
“tropicana in San Jose, Mx it's so convient.”
My first trip to Tropicana was ten years ago after another Hotel was so unsatisfactory. I have returned there several times throughout the years since. Would go again on my yearly trip to San Jose.
“Clean, quiet, well located hotel, but inconsistent desk hours.”
If you like a location far from the beach but in the heart of the city, art galleries and shopping, this is a good bet. Very quiet and comfortable, though a strange entry through the (relatively expensive) restaurant. Staff were helpful and friendly, when the desk was open. On walking about, the constant solicitation by the shop owners surrounding the hotel became tiresome very quickly, but it was convenient for souvenier shopping, and the art galleries are a short stroll away.
“Good for downtown San Jose del Cabo”
They serve an excellent breakfast (from the menu) - we supplemented the free breakfast with selections from the menu. We stayed for 1 night before checking into our timeshare unit the next day. This hotel is perfect for that - it is reasonable and well-located for enjoying San Jose del Cabo. When we went to check out they tried to collect payment but this was resolved easily when I showed my receipt from Expedia. (So have your receipt handy). Beds are a little on the hard side.
“Great hotel”
Love the look and feel of this hotel. It is a small hotel with mexican flare. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The grounds and pool and great and a great restaurant within the hotel.
“Best food, coolest restaurant in all of CABO!!!”
it's an older hotel, and appears to be one of those 1985 resorts, dated by most standards, two full sized beds in room, which was kind of dark and dim.The grounds, pool and courtyard area were beautiful and nicely lit after dark. Swim up bar was not open. FIRST RATE dining room and restaurant. Best food we had the whole time in Cabo. The dining room is so huge, grand and over the top classy. Awesome staff as well. Our only real gripe was the huge carnival that was going on the next street or so over. Made finding the hotel and parking difficult. The worst part was this shouting voice from the carnival, over a loud speaker, constant, constant, never stopping EVER, a man speaking Spanish, could NOT have been human, must have been a recording, bellowing on and on to the point where anyone sitting outside had to shout to be heard, and it could still be heard fairly clearly in the room, to the point we had to put the tv on VERY loud. I think it finally stopped sometime around 1 or 2 am. The guests who had been there before us said it was going on 24/7, never stopped, but we were lucky enough to have arrived on the last day of the carnival, a Monday, so it stopped "early." Not the hotel's fault, tho it would have been nice to get a head's up from them before we got there
“The good and not so”
Excellent location, beautiful hotel, room and grounds The air conditioner blew air, but not cold air. It is extremely hot there and cool air was needed, but not there! Some things had been broken and repaired, not their fault, but showed the lack of care by guests. Great food and service. Hotel staff was excellent.' Private parking for guests is patrolled. I was overall quite impressed, despite the problems.
“Charming Older Hotel”
The Tropicana is not a modern wonder, and the rooms are a bit more like Motel Six, but the grounds and restaurant/bar are beautiful. The food at the preqstaurant is excellent. The hotel is right off the square in San Jose Del Cabo, very close to all of the galleries and restaurants in the area.
