“Beautiful Hotel On Quiet Beach”
When I first checked into the hotel, the lady at the tour desk tried to sell me a time-share in San Jose Del Cabo. She also told me it was dangerous to swim in the ocean because of the strong untertow. She told me I had to go to Medano beach to go swimming. I was shocked to say the least. It seemed like I had made a huge mistake, since the main reason I chose Finisterra was because it was right on the beach. She also told me to go to a restaurant downtown. Well, I noticed there were many other people swimming in the ocean. Yes, there is an untertow and the occassional big waves, but if you are a good swimmer and are careful, then it is OK to swim on the beach in front of Finisterra. Once I realized this, I fell in love with Finisterra. It is an absolutely gorgeous hotel with high quality ceramic tiles inside and out, carefully groomed cactus and flower gardens, three(!) pools, a large sandy beach WITH NO BEACH VENDORS!!!, easy walk to the downtown and marina, and it is even possible to walk to Lover's Beach after climbing over some rocks at the end of the beach. The hotel was very quiet, peaceful, serene. Beautiful restaurants with incredible views, a waterfall, good service. The extremely poor advice and misinformation I got from the lady at the tour desk nearly spoiled my stay, but once I ignored everything she said and discovered the hotel and surroundings for myself, it was absolute paradise.
“I'd reccommend it”
Was very nice, and liked the space all employees gave us! A great time to go to cabo, and huge waves! Only problem was the shower connector broke on the am we were leaving but that can happen anywhere including at home!!
“great location”
great views, great location - on beautiful beach (can walk over rocks to lovers beach too!) close to town, great views from whale watchers bar. very pleased with this resort. the only thing missing is a kitchenette so you could cut down on the expensive costs of cabo.
“We'll be back”
we enjoyed the old-world charm and quality of service. The beach area is magnificent and its lack of vendors much appreciated.
“good stay”
Very good value in a good hotel right in the tourist center of Cabo. Service was great and staff friendly and helpful. One time to time-share Cabo, though, is enough.
“Nice Place - but nothing free about the free margarita”
Hotel was pretty nice, great pools, and spectacular view from the whale watcher bar! The bed was very hard, and housekeeping was hit and miss, sometimes we had towels and coffee....sometimes not. Don't fall for the free magarita!, after a very long day, the check in person directed us over to obtain a coupon for a free magarita...30 mins later we are still listening to a time share pitch...all I want is to go to my room and get a drink. These time share people say that they can get you good deals on excursions (or activities!) but they don't, just head down to the marina and bargain for good deals. The harbour/marina was beautiful, but waayyyy too many people trying to sell you stuff...we had two great trips, snorkelling and Todos Santos with Panchitos tours, very professional friendly guides
“Better than expected”
After the initial shock of no kitchenette with Junior Suite had worn off, we had a great time. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the room gorgeous. The food at the Blue Marlin was excellent, no more expensive than anywhere else around Marina area, and the waiters friendly and efficient. The Marina & Plaza within walking distance -- nicer than Puerto Vallarta's Marina. You'll still find authentic Mexican restaurants, shops, and homes in upscale Los Cabos. Just walk inland from the Marina. Some knowledge of Spanish is always a plus anywhere you travel in Mexico.
“beautiful beach, lovely staff”
We had a very pleasant stay at Finisterra, and particularly enjoyed the pristine, peaceful beach . We love Medano Beach for the lively Mexican atmosphere, but breakfast at Mango Deck, and an activity or two ( glass bottom boat or waverunners ) give you a chance to do Medano : ) We watched whales from our balcony, and while sitting on the beach at Finisterra. Good sandwiches and chips, salsa and a mini mountain of guacamole, from the pool kitchen. Very nice.
“Good”
We stayed in the OLD part of the Hotel Finistera. Our room was comfortable, beds were not too hard, air conditioning worked OK, there was a in-room safe which was nice feature. TWO problems we had - no hot water at night for showering - I let the water run for about 10 minutes prior to showering. Second problem, which might turn people off, was having three cockroaches in 10 days. We were ground floor. The hotel pools (three) were beautifully laid out, spacious, and quite clean with the exception of the middle pool where the swim-up bar was. It looked a little merky. I am always leery of swimming in the bar pools as I have noticed that most people dont leave the pool all day yet consume quite a few refreshments. I question - where do they go to the bathroom???:) There was limited shade around the pools but we always managed to find some shade somewhere. The staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was quite convenient... walking distance to everything or a short BUS ride. The hotel had a shuttle to take you up and down the hill which was very convenient for those people not wanting to exercise. The hill up to the hotel was quite a chaklenge! All, in all, we found this hotel just fine even though we stayed in the old part aside from the visits by the cockroaches!
“We'll be back to the Finisterra”
Great Resort and service. At the present time they are going through renovation and therefore a lot of construction noise.
