“Quiet, Cabo escape”

Not on the heavy tourist area, beautiful Pacific side. Quiet, no local vendors to interupt.

Area recommendations
Just a few blocks off the main strip awesome dining.
Getting around
Walk as much as you want, cabs are too expensive. No need for a car, buses are easy too.

“Finisterra has taken a turn for the worse....”

This is the time we've stayed at Finisterra and the first time (6 years ago) was FANTASTIC! This time around, we left disappointed. The service was fine, but the rooms left a lot to be desired. We upgraded to a newer section Marina view (view was GREAT!) but the first night we were there, there was a huge cockroach in my bed!!! Needless to say, we changed rooms. I understand bugs exist in Mexico, but not in my bed. The 2nd room just seemed dirty as a result of my experience from the first night. I didnt sleep very well the rest of the trip. Also the food was ok. I wouldnt highly recommend it, but would say its worth going into town to eat bc usually the meals and variety is MUCH MUCH Better. we like to venture out so that was fine with me. THe location is also fantastic as its only 5 minute walk to the marina with tons of shops and places to eat/drink

“Still love this place”

We have stayed at Hotel Finisterra for over 15 years and will continue going back. The hotel needs to FIX THE HOT TUBS but can't complain about anything else. We have always been treated extremely well by all employees and look forward to seeing them again soon. Don't be afraid to ask the waiter for special food items that aren't on the menu. The chef will make about anything you want. We have never had bad food here. We have never had problems with our rooms. We have 3 weeks of time share rooms and have stayed on the hotel side and all is good. Location is perfect for fishing trips.

“LONG STEEP WALK DOWN & UPHILL TO MARINA NOT GOOD AT NIGHT”

Would not recommend this hotel for single people if you want to socialize or meet new people. Hotel was empty when I stayed mid July so gave me a lonely feeling and I couldn't wait to leave after my 3 night stay. Might be ok when hotel is much busier. Pool and swim up bar is very nice but all couples or familes, no singles. Walk to marina at night is steep and dark, yet seemed too close to take shuttle to bottom of hill when offered. Upon checkin I was requested to put $300 on my credit card (for food/drinks in advance I was told by reception) plus provide detailed personal information which I declined all of, and glad I did (even after I was told others do when requested upon checkin?) Bank machine is conveniently available onsite if you want to pay as you go with pesos instead. Also, it is true, as I read in another review, as trivial as it sounds, there was no tissue provided in the room or coffee - even though a coffee maker was in the room. View was very nice from my room (ocean view out front & rocky montain view at back.) Wi fi was available in lobby not in room.

Area recommendations
Marina is definitely the highlight with restaurants and bars day and night and just enough gift type shopping. Dinner cruise was very nice, in particular for taking photos.
When to go
When not to go? Do not go mid July! It's dead so you get hounded non stop by vendors.

“Great beach thou can not swim on the ocean, nice pools, near town.”

The Hotle sits on a hill so to get to town you either wait for the hotel car to take you up and down or walk. Going down is easy going up at age 65 is a bit tuff the first 2 days but the work out is good for the heart. The marina and many great food restaurant are right there. Swap meet and many stores and bars near as well. The hotel is on the hill so you do not here the traffic noise or the entertainment noise. We are ready to go back.

Area recommendations
The whole area is great lots of activities and the water is beautiful no matter where you are.
When to go
We went in March and the weather was wonderful
Must see
Try the zip line package, what a great time.
Dining
Solomons Landing has wonderful food and LaGolondrina is find dining.

“Good ratio between price and service, great location to get early at the marina”

Overall, the hotel in nice and the location has lots of positive aspects for the great view, the beach, the marina (for those who want go fishing is perfect) and downtown at a walking distance. The only inconvenience is the lack of an internet in-room service, as reported in the hotel description, therefore anytime is required the use of internet only the lobby and the swimming pool can be use for the connection.

Area recommendations
Cabo is overall a great place to stay for a short vacation to enjoy sea, shopping and nightlife

“Great Location”

May 21 through May 29, 2011. Our second visit to Cabo. Good news: Geat location. Walk down driveway was just as long as the walk to the marina area where there are many bars, restaurants and shops. Only 2 more walking minutes to the main street. The 3 pools were beautiful and wait staff at the pools were efficient and all were very nice and polite. We charged all food and drinks to the room. It seemed the hotel was only 1/3 full at the most, so there were seats available at the pools any time of day. Concierge was very helpful in arranging my trip back to the airport. She made the confirmation phone calls for us. All rooms face the ocean and the only noise heard was the crashing surf. Beautiful views from the rooms. Fair exchange rate at the desk for USD to Pesos. Bad news: Arrived to hotel around noon, but not allowed to check in before 4:00 pm. No towels or TP upon room entry, had to call twice. Not a single ice machine on any floor was plugged in. Maybe a cost savings. You have to ask for the free coffee to use in the in room coffee maker.

Area recommendations
Marina area for the views, bars, restaurants and water taxi availability. Main street area for the shops and restaurants. Main beach area (easier to get to via water taxi, but otherwise a 5 to 10 minute walk). The live music at CaboWabo was pretty good.

“"More focus on detail"”

Sirs; Little issues that make hotels great were somewhat lacking this trip. There was never tissue in the tissue holder. Food service items were left unattended on the low walls of the corridors, and a general untidyness is starting to be evident. Staff is friendly but we resented our request to be taken immediately to our rooms ignored as we were subjected to high pressure to attend promotions and the like. We would have been pleased to listen if it could have been on our terms, as it was we never attended. The pools were nice and the service folks very efficient at the poolside bar and cafe. A little more attention to detail will bring things back to where they were last year. Thanks Albert Townsend

Area recommendations
The marina cafes and shops because it is clean and upscale.

“Great location, wonderful Mexican hospitality”

I have stayed at the Finisterra many times. It has a wonderful pool. Their restaurants serve great food and it is close walking distance to town.

Area recommendations
Medano beach - it's the closest walking distance to town and the only swimmable beach in the greater Cabo area.
Dining
I've been going to Cabo for over 5 years now. Here are three of the best restaurants. #1 Edith's close to Medano beach (reservations needed), #2 The Office on Medano Beach (reservations needed) #3 Alexanders on the Marina (no reservations needed)
