Under construction, Staff wasn't very attentive, not very helpful when asking questions, Didn't explain the package we had and what it included! Pools were nice and staff was friendly. Wouldn't recommend the Mexican Fusion restaurant horrible service and Food. The pool and grill was the only good food and service.

Staff and service needs improvement
The Bel Air resort changed its name to Krystal Grand, but we were never notified of the name change by the resort or Expedia. Finding the hotel from the highway was not easy, as we were looking for "Bel Air" and there is no longer any hotel by that name. Our frustrations did not end there though. We waited in line for 45 minutes to be checked in, maybe more. The staff seemed untrained; each receptionist's service quality varied greatly. In the time that we were in line, 3 guests who had just checked in returned to the front desk regarding issues with their rooms. In addition, we had to walk along the highway shoulder to retrieve our own car even though we used "valet parking". The receptionist who did our paperwork forgot to give our ID cards back to us, and we had to return 45 minutes later when we needed it elsewhere. Upon returning for our ID's, the receptionist pulled them out of his pocket, having obviously realized at some point that he forgot to give them back to us, but he did not offer as much as an apology and had never attempted to call us to notify us. We were given a room in the older building along the highway, which was impossible to find. The internal circulation is confusing and the resort lacks signs and direct paths from the new building to the older buildings. The hotel room itself was very comfortable, new, spacious and well-designed. Housekeeping was spotty; they cleaned everything but did not replenished our soaps and towels. Overall the stay was OK.

Beautiful Resort - changing but growing
I was a little concerned about the reviews I was reading online regarding this hotel. I normally don't write reviews, but felt this hotel was owed a good review. I had 3 rooms for a family vacation. Check in required a little patience especially when they took a group who cut in front of me, however a staff member noticed and immediately asked us for a drink order and brought us to a seating area for us to wait and then came and got us when they were ready. The resort is beautiful. The upgrades are beautiful and tranquil. Are rooms were brand new, although I was told I was getting a kitchenette in every room, I did not, but it turned out ok. We had a fridge which was fine. My reservation also was made prior to the change and I did not book all inclusive, however my reservation did include a free breakfast. It took me a day to get that straightened out, but we did get a full breakfast buffet. We had one dinner on property which was OK, but we enjoyed all the area had to offer. There was a language barrier often, but we managed to get through. All in all the vacation was fantastic, and I would visit this resort again. The beach was gorgeous, no swimming in front of hotel as the currents were too strong but a short 5 minute walk took us to a safer place. We did participate in a movie night on the beach which was unexpected and fun, the staff brought warm towels to keep us from the chill. all the pools were great. The newer pool had lounge chairs on baja shelves, RELAXING!

While under construction...
The hotel was under construction with new ownership and a new name, Krystal Grand. It wasn't pleasant but tolerable. Only a few inconveniences with one working elevator and 7 floor buildings. The food definitely needs improvement. It was mediocre for being at a hotel with limited options to leave, since San Jose was a 10 minute drive and San Lucia was 30 minutes away. I really hope the new owners help in these areas.

Bel Air no more!
We booked our stay at Bel Air months ago and when we finally arrived in our destination and were driving around, looking for it, we could not find it anywhere! We had to stop a couple of times to ask where it was (Navigator claimed it was where we were but nothing indicated that). Finally someone directed us through an empty reception area through a complex of hotel buildings to another reception area for a hotel named Krystal Grand. Evidently Bel Air had been purchased by Krystal Grand and fortunately our reservation had been grandfathered into it, so we did have a place to stay. It all turned out good, but it would have been nice of Expedia to notify of the change so we didn't waste an hour looking for a hotel that no longer existed. So didn't book anything at Bel Air—it doesn't exist any longer. I'd be happy to review Krystal Grand, but not under Bel Air.

Poorly run resort
I've stayed here and at the adjoining condos 5 times over the last 5 years. The resort has grown but the staff has not. Paid for ocean view. They tried to put us on the room facing the busy corridor highway. Refused the room. Received a pool view room. After over an hour, finally into our room. It has a beautiful beach, but the resort is poorly run by management and the staff are very nice and accommodating, as much as they can be, but are overwhelmed. I have watched it go downhill as they added 2 more buildings. Then at checkout I received a bill for 2 all inclusive type (watered down, cheap alcohol) drinks. They charged $17USD per drink. The front desk clerk said, "Yes, it is very expensive to drink here." They are building a new resort, I'm assuming it's is associated with this one. It looks really nice. But seeing how the Bel Air has been managed with the addition of 2 buildings. I'm not interested in staying at another resort associated with Bel Air, Khrystal Sands or whatever they are called. Pay the money and stay elsewhere. There are lots of other beautiful resorts to choose from.

Unrelaxing vacation because of the Hotel. Beware!
At the time of booking, the hotel is Bel Air Collection Resort and Spa. Pictures are great on the websites and mostly good reviews. I should have listened to the negative reviews. By the time we got there, there was the change of ownership/name. I didn’t know because I was not notified. Check in process was very slow. It took about an hour to check in. Deluxe Studio Suite was NOT deluxe as they advertise it. It was old, dark and next to the busy and noisy highway. Hotel won’t switch me to a quieter room eventhough I offered to pay extra for an upgrade. Their excuse was they were booked. But at least 3 guest went back to get their room switched. How could that be? After spending a night in this not so Deluxe Studio Suite, I asked for another room the following day, I was finally given a newer room, not studio, as I booked it. It was also right next to the noisy, busy highway. The room was just 1 floor up street level. And guess what? NO HOT WATER. I called the front desk at least 3 times. Basically, hot water will come after running it for 20 to 30. But will only say on for 5 minutes. So for 3 nights in that room, it was cold shower for me. It doesn’t really matter if I booked the hotel before Grand Krystal acquired Bel Air Collection. The transition should be transparent to ALL the guests. I wasted my time and money by staying at this hotel. I was treated like a second hand citizen eventhough I was willing to pay extra to be upgraded.

Nice new hotel with great pool
We had great time, entire place is all new, clean and very up to date. (The beautiful new pool just opened during our stay there). The beach is beautiful, but it is NO SWIM beach due to strong waves all the time, so info on website about kayaks and boards is incorrect.

Beautiful ocean front rooms
Now called Krystal Grand. Excellent food, staff and accommodations. Only complaint is we couldn't find an outlet that would charge our electronics! We moved rooms even and still our devices would lose battery if plugged in. Hopefully this will remedy soon as they were adding on and updating the whole time we were there.

Our room was very clean and modern. Pools and beach were wonderful. Food was ok . Drinks were not so good. Service at front desk is horrible!!! Had to interact with staff at desk numerous times and unfortunately received the same awful service.

Beautiful hotel now under new management!
When we 1st arrived it was not such a great experience as management and staff were slow and struggling with new booking system tool 2 hrs to check in. However staff very friendly and accommodating. We had to move rooms twice because airco was broken but they upgraded is to ocean front room which everything worked. The hotel is now part of Krystal chain and is amazing! Same staff awesome food clean quiet and family friendly. We were booked into a different hotel the 2 nd week of our vacation. But ended up leaving and coming back to Krystal ( Bel Air) . Already planning our next visit !!

It was ok..
Hotel was going through renovations and re-branding... thus the sound of the drill and hammers was heard every day. They had issues with water and toilets flushing. Customer service took over 24 hours to resolve issues. The AC did not work and we had to move rooms three times. Everything took extra long! Like the valet, drinks, food anything.. the staff called it "Mexican time".

The check in was a little slow, but overall the stay was nice. Good food everyday with all inclusive access. They never had the same thing and that's what stood out food was. The beach was nice and the pool.

The hotel staff was nice, rooms were clean, some buildings on the facility were not as up to standard as others. Rooms too close to construction (changed room 3 times upon arrival), luckily when we came hotel was not full.It was hard to get things delivered to room in a timely fashion. Food was decent and there was a variety of foods to choose from.

ConsThe hotel is in the process of being bought, the front desk staff were overwhelmed with customer complaints. Our 1st room was next to the freeway,unbelievably loud road noise. Thankfully we were moved to a different room that wasn't as loud. The hotel is under construction, so it was loud, watt turned off. Took more than an hour to checkout the front desk staff was completely overwhelmed. Pros The staff were doing their best with this transition. Staying nice in the midst of the chaos. The pool was clean. The beach and the weather was amazing. The food was ok, especially the breakfast our room included breakfast.

Great staff and the facilities were clean and fun. There is an extension being built which can make it a bit noisy, but nothing which ever bothered myself. The food was excellent and once again the staff were happy, fun and a pleasure to interact with. Great little holiday

A delightful stay.
It was a great stay. We would definitely stay here again. The food was average... actually the room service menu had the best selection we thought. But the Pina Coladas were delicious. It was nice that breakfast was included. Checking in takes forever (at least 30 minutes), but we've had that be the case at other places we have stayed in Mexico. You are in Mexico... don't expect snappy service like you would probably get here in the US... again that has been our experience. But you are in Mexico on vacation... relax. And while they aren't quick, all of the staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. The location was great, right on the beach. The pool was a beautiful place to hang out and order drinks or snacks while the kids played in the pool. We had a delightful stay.

The hotel is close to the beach.
We had a beautiful room and a wonderful view. We knew there were be construction close by which was not really a problem because they were quiet at night. One of our complaints was the location. We wouldn't have minded walking down to the hotel zone or to a couple of restaurants that were close by if it wasn't for a couple of stretch's where they was no sidewalk.. The hotel is on a very busy highway. Another complaint was the lack of shade on the beach. There were very few umbrellas and no palapas. Our last complain would be the lack of areas for people were were not all inclusive to eat.

Our Best Choice Yet!
We have been to San Jose many times and have stayed at various different properties and this was definitely our favourite! Our beachfront room was amazing...well appointed with very comfortable beds, great shower and a stunning view! We didn't book the all-inclusive package because we like to take in the many restaurants available nearby and in the town centre and there currently aren't a lot of options onsite however, there is a spectacular expansion underway which is set to open in the next couple of months which includes a number of new restaurants, new pools and obviously new rooms, etc.

Beautiful property on the beach
We loved everything at this property. It's location on the beach, not too large, beautiful rooms and such friendly staff. Not many restaurants on site but they are expanding so they are coming. However we enjoyed eating at local restaurants nearby. The activities at the pool were fun and the entertainment staff were hilarious. I would highly recommend this property and am excited for them for what is to come with their expansion.

Caution, hotel is under construction. Our room was quiet, but lots weren't. Free parking, but you couldn't come and go with your car. You always had to let them park it and bring it to you. Which was time consuming, as there wasn't always someone available, and annoying. Especially if you planned on going out again within the hour. Positive: All the workers were very pleasent. Breakfast was really good (it was included), Rooms were really nice and new and very clean. Beach was easy to access and nice. But the black flags( no swimming) never came down. Internet was spotty and slow, T.V was lacking. They need to have netflix or more english channels. Overall a great stay.

Rundown and poorly managed
The hotel was in poor condition, our first room the a/c broke the first day and they did nothing about it until the 2nd day we were there. They gave us another room that had no curtains except sheers, anyone could see in our room and the curtain rods were steel pipes. There was mold around the bathtub, electricity went out several times because of construction, maid service did not come for 2 days and the elevator broke the last day, so we had to carry our luggage down 4 flights of stairs.

Good hotel and friendly staff.
Overall we enjoyed our time at the Bel Air, the ocean front room had a beautiful view of the Sea of Cortes and the landscape of the beach. The only cons we have is the maids usually didn't leave us clean wash cloths, they would leave clean towels but forget to give us washcloths and the floor could have been mopped. The night before leaving for home we ate at the Bel Air's sushi restaurant, we heard that it was just okay but for convenience sake we decided to eat there. Unfortunately, both my husband and I woke up with food poisoning, throwing up etc. Needless to say our 6 hours of travel back home was quite an awful day. Not to end on a negative note I do want to say the staff is very helpful and friendly, the hotel is in a good location for walking in to the main drag in San Jose and the buses are easy to use if you don't want to walk all the way to the Mission square. There is plenty of good local restaurants with fresh fish and shrimp that serve delicious food. We would definitely stay at the Bel Air again but pass on the sushi bar.

Nice hotel with great beach views.
With construction going on, parking availability a little hard to find. Was without water for a short period for some reason and electrical issue for room controls after a power outage that occurred during our stay. It appeared staff was new and were still working out the kinks of operating this property. I would return to this property for a future stay with expectations of seeing improvements.

Nice hotel in transition
Nice hotel.We stayed in the new building, and the it was lovely! Nice beach, but they have no umbrellas for the chairs. The few beds on the beach were in disrepair. Hotel was changing ownership during our stay. Very poor maid service..usually showed up late afternoon between 4 and 5:00.

GOOD FROM A FAR BUT FAR FROM GOOD
Check it was ok. Long wait. Had to call the manager to add extra nights for same price. The room was amazing as you can see in pictures we took. Floors had dirt not clean. Top blanket was dirty and this is where it went down hill. Called for extra pillows, extra blanket, and clean top cover. This took 3 hours and 2 more calls to get someone to do. Called next day for plates kitchen trash can and silver wear. That took all day and 5 different calls. Day 3 I ask for room to be cleaned all day calling. I finally said I need to talk to the manager and they apologize and sent me wine for my troubles. The employee there have bad attitudes & are not that intelligent. You literally have to walk them through everything like it was there first day. We go to Cabo every few months and I have never paid so much for bad service. I had to ask for the manager every time because the answer was always no until the manager came. They are also very disorganized. You have to do everything yourself. Felt like an Air B&B. I can only say a few good things. Food at the buffets are amazing and worth the money. And the beach was nice. But the town is also great as well for restaurants and tourist things. WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. This place needs to fire a lot of bad employees and hire people that want to be there and I would start with the front desk and service manager. The hotel manager needs to really do something before this continues. Others said they experience the samething.

Beautiful View
We had a beach front room and the view was fantastic. The room had lots of space with a couch and dinning table. The hotel was near the bus stop so it was easy to get to Cabo San Lucas. The bus fare was only $2. We ordered off the room menu most of the time because of cost but one night we ate at La Dulce (one of the hotels restaurants) it was great. All in all I would gladly go back today.

Loved located of hotel
We were next construction of new part they're working 12 hour days very noisey . Adk for well done hamburger came rare. Buffet breakfast meat on it. Overall cost of f food bs inclusive cheaper to pay for whatever you want. Room service terrible food arrived cold they never answered phone or was busy.

Beware Beautiful Resort under Construction
The resort is beautiful and great but the construction next door was terrible. I booked the room for 6 nights not knowing that there is construction. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay this is not the place. I asked to be moved to a different room away from the construction but they said they are fully booked and will get back to me, but that didn't happen. So I'm very dissatisfied. My advice is if you find a deal that's ocean view and too good to be true, remember that there's a catch.

Ok stay...do not stay in building 3
We stayed at the Bel Air for 1 night due to it's convenience to our condo rental the following day. Check-in: Slow, room was not ready at 5pm Room: Upgraded to a lovely ocean view however building 3 is right next to the highway and very noisy. Great bed! Beware of AC. Got up in the morning to a huge pool of water on the marble floor from the AC leaking. Anything on the floor was soaked. Luckily no one slipped. Staff - plenty of friendly staff however housekeeping came in, no knocking, at 8am. While at breakfast she came back again and was cleaning the room for the next check-in. Really? Housekeeping shouldn't even be coming into a 1 night room before check-out. Was the room rechecked after we left and the next guest arrived? Dining: very limited options if you are there for more than a couple of days. Dinner was ok..a bit bland. Breakfast was great. Pool and beach are great.

The stories of terrible experiences are true.
So, where to start. My wife and I stayed here over Christmas (2016). During check-in—which took forever—we were given a list of all the dining options within the hotel itself. We decided to get some snacks by the pool because our room wasn't ready yet—even though it was past check-in time. As other reviewers have stated, CHECK YOUR BILL for any drinks or dining (we were not all-inclusive) because they will try to add extra items that you didn't order. Fortunately, we did check our bill, asked for the extra items to be removed, and they never tried to pull that trick on us again for the rest of our stay. Dinner that first night was a nightmare. Despite the list of dining options we were given earlier, we were turned away from all of the restaurants except one. We were told we needed to be all-inclusive AND have a reservation. The front desk hadn't mentioned any of that. So, we settled on our sole option: the sports bar. Only problem? We had just two options: burgers or pizza. We ordered two burgers, and an hour later we were served. The burgers were cold and mushy, and the fries were cold and limp—all undercooked. But we ate anyway because we were starving and tired from a full day of traveling. Service on the rest of the days continued to be abysmal—so bad, in fact, that we debated whether or not we should go to a different hotel and take the loss on this one. Instead, we opted to eat elsewhere everyday, either in town or at a nice breakfast place that we could walk to.

Swim up pool on beach
Swim up pool right on beach was great. Staff was wonderful and local places to eat are in walking distance or short taxi ride. Have been to this resort last 2 years and will go again. Construction of new building and pool ongoing but rarely heard....crashing waves were usually what was heard. Bel air working to get better.

When as a client you are placed in the construction area the hotel should make some concessions in either price or perks. None were offered!

beautiful beach, beachfront room recommended
Hotel staff is very friendly, my beachfront room was spacious, comfortable and with very good bedding. The I pad on the walls for control of curtains, room temperature, etc is a great touch, but needed some attention by the staff at times. I did not eat at the hotel because of the negative reviews, but there are good restaurants nearby. Near local bus to the mega store easy, regular and economical. You can also reach the shopping center by walking the beach for 15 minutes till the "for sale" sign, where there is public access to the beach. From there it is 2 minutes to the mega store "La Comer" The renovations and new attractive pools are opening this spring. ( march 15, is mentioned)

I went to the single woman and it was not focused towards my needs. For the most part everyone was courteous. I would take my family if I win again but you can't swim at the beach by the hotel

We made our own stay to be a pleasant experience.
We were not happy with construction just right of our balcony because we like to sleep late in the morning. We requested and moved to the old building far away from the construction (of course with some tipping). The room had a full kitchen and we used it fully. We enjoyed cooking our own breakfast lunch and dinner and never a single time we wanted to use facility restaurant because the fish and chicken we cooked were fresh and delicious. There's a store La Comer up to the hill and we liked going there it's 10-15 minutes safe nice walk along HWY and it was a great daily exercise (we never took a taxi!). It was first time on vacation we didn't rent the car and first time we were loosing the weight! The store has great choice of food that tastes much better that organic overpriced food in USA. It cost us about $30-40/day for all 3 meals including veggies fruits and alcohol for dinner. Every day we took the bus across the street to the best beach in the area Santa Maria ($1.50 one way per person). One week of good sleep meals and swim was a good vacation!
