Lovely Dining

Posted 30-Jun-2014
Pros: The dining area was lovely as was the restaurant.
Cons: The exterior could do with updating a bit
Location: We only ventured out for breakfast and found it to be close to several things that tourists might like to visit.
We stayed in the Sunse Marquis for just one night as a stop over on the way to Vegas. We found the hotel to be nice, the restaurant in the evening was the main attraction with beautfiul surroudings lit up with fairy lights. During the day the pool area was nice but the hotel surrounding it was nothing spectacular to look at. Overall a very nice stay but I am not sure I would stay their for more than a couple of nights.

So glad we chose the Sunset Marquis!!

Posted 14-May-2014
Pros: We loved the pool, the bars, the ambience, friendly service, and location!
Cons: We have absolutely no complaints:)
Location: Located right off the Sunset strip. Walk to all the cool restaurants and bars or just hang at the hotel.
We were referred to the Sunset Marquis by my sister and other friends and we are thrilled that we decided to stay here! Located on a lovely quiet street, within walking distance to amazing bars and restaurants, not to mention the dynamite bar located right in the hotel. The staff was super friendly and the concierge was top notch. We took all of her recommendations and ended up eating fabulous meal after fabulous meal. We lounged and drank by the small but inviting pool and generally had the best time ever! Do yourself a favor and stay at the Sunset Marquis!!

My home away from home

Posted 25-Jan-2014 on Hotels.com
When I find myself in LA, the Sunset Marquis is my home away from home. I've been staying there over the last 5 years and become friendly with the staff who always greet me by name. It's such a beautiful sanctuary tucked away in the craziness of LA. 5 stars.

It gets better

Posted 13-Dec-2013
I returned to this property after having stayed here for several years during Grammy week. Although I always enjoy the hotel, the hotel staff during this stay was beyond excellent, especially my waiters at the restaurant and the valet. I truly did not want to leave, and not just because I was returning to the arctic northeast.

Good location close to Sunset Blvd but on a quiet

Posted 28-Oct-2013
Pros: Pool area
This hotel is well located and the amenities: restaurant, bars, pool etc are good. Our room was very average and my wife was not happy that it didn't have a bathtub just a shower.

Remember you are in Hollywood....

We probably were dressed a little too casual in the evening for some places.

Quiet oasis in LA

Posted 2-Sep-2013
Pros: The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and nice.
Cons: Different carpet?
Location: There's so much to do, entertainment wise.
I had good memories staying here back in 2003. I wanted a different room and they were so incredibly nice about it.

Rock and Roll Oasis in the Heart of Hollywood

Posted 28-Aug-2013
Pros: Just about everything.
Cons: Not much. Parking is a little pricey. Still, compared with Chicago rates, it's a bargain.
Location: West Hollywood opulence, balanced with Sunset Strip rock and roll sleaze, choose your poison, or like I did, a little of both.
I can't say enough positive things about my stay at the Sunset Marquis. The staff is welcoming and professional, and even upgraded my room for my two night stay to a space that was frankly larger than necessary, but gladly welcomed. They learn your name, always greet you with a smile, and concierge services are particularly outstanding. I had a terrific balcony that was perfect for early-evening wine drinking, and it offered just enough privacy to balance out the "public vs. private" feel. The grounds are superbly manicured, with two nice swimming pools, and an array of benches and seating throughout the property that begs to be relaxed on with a cocktail in the California evening. Breakfast in the property's restaurant, called "Restaurant", is an open-aired, beautiful patio, with a great selection of options - I imagine lunch and dinner are even nicer, but that's hard to imagine. The bar gives off the "too cool for you" attitude from the doorway, but that quickly fades when given two minutes with the bar staff - friendly and outgoing, just what I want from my bartenders. Yes, you will probably see a celebrity or two, but this hotel is just as much a respite and getaway for them as it is for us mortal civilians. You're within walking distance of all the SoCal Hollywood decadence, but this property is so nice, comfortable, and relaxing, that you almost don't want to leave.
