Staff was very helpful. When I stay at a hotel I’m only here for a short time. I’m basically here just to sleep. All I basically look for is a good rate and a clean room and I got that here. And good staff. Thank you.

Great location in proximity to food and transport. Clean property inside and out (for the most part) Some stuff is visibly showing age. Some hardware was strangely laid out (the shower hot/cold is swapped). The dude checking us in was on his phone the whole time. Odd, but wasn't a problem. The area isn't necessarily the safest part of town, so be street-smart.

The hotel is conveniently located, but the area is getting a little seedy with a lot of homeless people. The price was good, the staff was nice and the room was comfortable.

It was a place to sleep and that is what we were wanting. Do I wish there wasn't random stains on a majority of the furniture? Yes. I felt like I had to wear shoes up until the moment I got in the bed. There were lots of cracks everywhere and I was a little nervous someone was going to break down our very unstable door. BUT I am grateful I was able to find a place to stay and no one broke down our door. The guy in the parking garage was extremely nice.

Overall I had a pleasant stay. The room was clean and had all the essentials and having two queen beds was nice. The staff was very helpful too. I didn't particularly like the shower design as it had no place to set my soap. Also the car horns and exhausts outside were very noisy although I don't blame the hotel for that.

Stayed 1 night and wishing to stay as close to downtown LA for a cheap rate which this was. Property is old (photos are accurate), and has a planned renovation apparently. Has a bed, tv and hot water and electricity and working lift. Don’t expect much more. Location is just outside the fringe in Chinatown. There are some homeless nearby and I wouldn’t walk streets alone at night I think.

A mixed bag of updated features and older items but it was just fine for an overnight stay very close to Union Station. Bathroom was updated with large rainfall showerhead but no shelves or cubby hole for items like shampoo. Floors and furniture seemed updated but fridge was old. Lot of homeless people in the area but that is just part of downtown LA. If you need a brief stay to catch a train then it is perfectly fine. I wouldnt book it for an extended stay, however. Staff was very friendly during checkin.

Staff was very helpful with my early arrival. The hotel is located very close to Chinatown so you can get some good Chinese takeout. There are some homeless in the area. So be mindful your surroundings.

upon arrival, i was told that my room was upgraded to a king size suite. okay. excitedly, i went up to my room — all the windows were open and the bathroom fan was on to cover the smell: imagine a wet dog bathed in cat urine and soaked in cleaning supplies that failed to cover the smell. the source of the stink was the carpet which was darkened and peeled off at many parts. i don’t even want to think about the colony of creatures that be living inside. i asked the staff to be relocated but the hotel manager (?) showed up at my door saying they did me a favor to put me in a big room (lol, i couldn’t care less about it, i care about cleanliness wayyy more). he then proceeded to walk into the room (uninvited) and went to the bed showing me that there were two layers of sheets so i would safely shield myself from other surfaces (red flag). that felt like a violation and it wasn’t welcome. i gotta say that, at least, the sheets and the bathroom were clean but that didn’t make up for the cringing feeling caused by the carpet and its stink. at night, fearing my health and safety, i kept the windows open but there was some kind of a huge engine that loudly whirred nearby which tortured me until 6 AM at which point i gave up to shut the windows willing to inhale the carpet’s exquisite fumes. i almost checked out in the morning willing to burn my second night. all in all, i’d highly recommend people to not stay at Metro Plaza Hotel.

Well, where do I start. Homelessness on the outside streets… but I understand that’s not Metro Plazas fault… Getting to the worst room in the building probably, 3rd floor , we had a hard time locking the front door, there were no hangers in the room, dirty looking carpet and there was grafiti on the restroom door. That restroom door wouldn’t close either. The shower tub was all wet! I don’t know why. I would expect a wet tub when checking in at 3pm not at 9 pm. Just odd to me. About two hours into our sleep precisely 11:45 we smelled something burning. If the fire detectors would have been working, it wouldn’t have alerted other guests! Smoked seeped into our room literally, it was very visible and when asking for help to the security the poor man barely spoke any English so he couldn’t explain that to the people at the front desk. Plus the personnel at the front desk didn’t want to do anything about it. Our neighbor guest was burning something and nothing else was done about that. So they ended up switching us to another room, with a worse smell of second hand smoke for our two girls. Feeling very insecure, we were debating whether to leave or stay at the middle of the night. We decided to stay, but felt like we had to watch our back. Oh yeah, breakfast was promoted when booking and there was no breakfast!! Just coffee. Bummer! So all in all, if you want a cheaper hotel and an interesting stay, then Metro Plaza is the place for you!

The location of this hotel is excellent - very near Union Station, downtown, highways, Phillipe's. The staff was very friendly, better than most places. The room price and parking were as low as can be. The site is under construction, so there's that. The carpets, halls and rooms are VERY dated and a little grungy - but not false advertising - you can see it from the photos. Bathroom was large and clean, but the tile, grout and caulk were bad. Not many power outlets accessible. I might stay there again, but only if I was alone - I would not take my Mom or my Girlfriend there.

They are under renovation. So some places are clean and new and others are dirty and aged. Over all, I'm satisfied with this hotel as female solo travelor. It's very convenient for transportation. Union station for Hollywood and Santa Monica visiting. Free Dash bus to downtown. I could teach those stop within 5-8min walk. And Fly Away bus from LAX airport to Union station. 5 min walk to CVS pharmacy and small market on the ground floor. Some homeless guys walking around in the evening but there were at least one security 24 hours at reception. Thats good. When I got there, the third floor aisle smelled tabacco but inside of room was very clean and no bad smell. Very big room for single travelor. Bathroom was very new and clean. There were two types of soaps and shampoo with condutioner. Water dispenser near the elevator. Free coffee at reception. Cons: no kleenex in the hotel room. No hot water kettle and no microwave oven. I stayed three night. Last day, fourth day, i checked at 9am and browsed the city until my Fly Away bus departure. Till then, they kept my luggage safely for free.

The Hotel is undergoing renovations and remodeling to a significant upgrade. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. In a good location. Refrigerator in room. No microwave. Hot water and cold water dispenser on each floor.

I have gone to conventions and concerts in the area, and if you are doing the same and looking for something affordable and convenient, I recommend this place. They have GATED and SECURITY parking, it is convenient to Uber or Scooter anywhere nearby, Oliveira Street is literally outside the hotel, and the metro station is also nearby. If you're there to explore DTLA or walk around to "check things out," this hotel isn't for you, specifically because it's an unsafe area. But for anyone with purpose to go, I recommend. Staff was great too. The rooms and furniture were outdated, but clean. Don't expect anything fancy.

Roach motel in the L.A. China town.
Shower hot water was luke warm and gradually started to get colder. The heater did not work well. I had to turn it all the way up to 95 degrees and turn on the fan to full to heat up the room. The room smelled like smoke and cheap perfume. The mattress felt hard and uncomfortable.
