“Delightful Place, Great for Families.”
Have stayed here numerous times dating back to the 90's when they first opened but this is the first time in a while and it has been renovated and is now even nicer than it was back when it was just plain nice. The building was originally an apartment complex built in a style that is rather iconic of the 50's and 60' whereby a rectangular building surrounds an open garden and swimming pool. As such the rooms are particularly spacious, I believe most are multi-room suites. The new decor is updated classic southern California; airy and bright with mid-century pastel colors and florals, very nice and much more comfortable than most boutique hotels. The only drawback is that because it was built back in the day little attention was paid to the way noise moves through materials; be prepared to hear all that is going on around you and if your room faces the pool you must enjoy the sounds of children happily splashing and expressing their glee with little or no restraint. This of course is mixed in with the occasional admonitions of watchful parents at even greater volume.
“Lovely!”
Very pretty, spacious rooms w/ a lovely living room adjacent to your bedroom area. Lots of light and a helpful, cheerful staff. The courtyard pool is heated and surrounded by plenty of poolside seating, a cozy outdoor fireplace and a nice indoor/outdoor hotel restaurant w/ drinks & munchies and a nice menu selection. Our lunch and breakfast were delicious. This hotel is ideal for an adult getaway weekend and well-suited for families w/ children, as well. There were plenty of both the weekend we visited.
“We loved it”
Everything was great - location, food, service. The room was large and well designed. We would highly recommend to everyone.
“Oceana”
Its like your on apartment on the beach in Santa Monica. Quiet and comfortable. Staff is very helpful and attentive.
“Will definately return”
Hotel Oceana is a secret treasure in Santa Monica. The retro California decor is sunny and funky. The suite-style rooms have separate bedrooms, living room and kitchenette, which was a great set-up for our family, we bought snacks and drinks to have on hand for them. The local shopping is fabulous, and local restaurants with unique and delicious menus, are all within walking distance. The Hotel staff could not have been nicer, or more helpful. My husband and myself went jogging daily on the Santa Monica Beach, directly across the street, and some days we rented roller blades and bikes to cruise past the Santa Monica Pier. The Hotel Oceana is a perfect Hotel for families, or couples, in a very convenient and lovely town on the California Coastline.
“Great hotel for families.”
My two sons and I loved the Hotel Oceana. It's location was perfect - across the street from the beach and a mile from the Santa Monica Pier (an easy and beautiful walk). The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room was bright, cheerful, and clean. The pool area offered comfortable places to relax while the kids were swimming. We will definitely go back!
“Hotel Oceana; my stay was Exceptional”
I have traveled all over the world and I must say that the Hotel Oceana is a great place to stay. I highly reccommed staying by the garden because the ocean views are located on a busy street. My room exceeded my expectations, the staff had our kitchen fully stocked which was quite nice. Over all I would highly reccommed this hotel.
“Can't wait to go back”
This hotel was great and the staff was even better! They are extremely attentive and met every one of our needs.
“Absolutely loved this hotel. I can't wait to go back.”
We stayed in a suite, and it was absolutely beautiful--double door entry into bedroom, small office nook in living room, living room was huge, the bathroom had a large vanity, lighted make-up mirror, dressing area outside of bathroom, pot lights throughout suite, large LCD televisions in living room and bedroom. It did not feel like a hotel at all. The staff were absolutely wonderful--I've never had friendlier staff at any hotel. The only negative was that the prices in the restaurant were extremely high ($6.00 for a bagel and $5.00 for a coffee!), but the service was good. We actually only ate breakfast at the hotel. We will definitely go back!
“Great Santa Monica boutique hotel!”
Great place to stay, across from the beach/park and close to everything. Restaurants, bars, shopping all walkable! Loved the service and the room was great!
