Good enough for a short stay

Posted 16-Sep-2014
This hotel was just about what I expected (maybe a little nicer/cleaner than I expected actually). The rooms definitely are tiny, but if you won't be in your room much then that doesn't matter. Everything was clean, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and shower worked well. The lack of elevator was inconvenient, but we expected that going in. The front desk staff was very helpful. I liked the area too, lots of things nearby and the huge Glendale galleria is just a few blocks away. I felt safe in this location.

Perfect spot

The hotel is right in downtown. The area is nice, clean and within a short walk to great shops and restaurants local and chain. The deco was beautiful. Parking was easy. The only down side is that it doesn't have an elevator. I would definetly chose this hotel again.

Close to malls and restaurants. Quick drive to dodger stadium and rose bowl. Very central location. Highly recommended.

HB Hotel suited us fine...

Posted 3-Sep-2014
Pros: No kids, European comfort
Cons: Be more flexible on early check out
Location: Location close to highway 134 & 5. Walk to Portos Bakery, Starbucks etc. Americana Mall and Glendale Galleria are a few blocks away.
We read the previous reviews so prepared for stairs, yes there are a lot! Parking in the BA bank parking lot behind hotel is a slight inconvenience… trek downstairs, key-in, upstairs again. We checked in late and were thankful someone was at front desk, check-in went smooth. Asked for quiet room, not sure what we heard in our room that was running all night, maybe hotel A/C unit, not refridge in room or room A/C. Would have preferred a quieter room, we had to tune it out. However we could turn off A/C, open windows at night and not be bothered by Jazz club noise. Room was clean, small, bed, comforter and pillows comfy. Bath was clean, small, towels basic. Neighborhood was very safe and clean. Location perfect for us to walk to malls and Portos Bakery, visit family. Overall I would compare the HB Hotel to a modest and comfortable European hotel. Very similar traits as per above. My only complaint would be the threat of no refund because we had to check out early. WHAT?! I thought we had not paid yet until check-out as per my agreement with Expedia. The hotel snuck our charges at CHECKIN! We had to stay the extra night after all but not thrilled with HB policy on charging at check in and threatening to keep a nights stay if we checked out early. BAH!

Hotel Brandwood Was GREAT!

Posted 1-Sep-2014
This little botique hotel was quaint with all the things you needed for a short stay. It's a little old, the rooms were small and had with no elevators but it never bothered my husband and I. Actually made it more unique. Staff was friendly. Rooms were clean. The location was AMAZING! It was close to everything you could ask for like the mall, highways, downtown LA and the famous Cuban bakery, Portos. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

Excellent stay

We had an excellent stay at the Brandwood. Location is not too far from Hollywood and most tourist attractions, its in a safe area. Also, we loved the mattresses! They were extremely comfortable, we woke up well-rested.

Bed and breakfast without the breakfast!

Posted 20-Aug-2014
Pros: Comfortable bed
This was a very disappointing choice. The parking was offsite, the entrance was not readily accessible from an area where one could unload the car. There was no elevator, and the climb to the third floor was quite a challenge for a 75 year old! The "restaurant on site" was next door, and was a dingy bar that didn't open until after 11.00 am - and did not do breakfast. I would take at least one of the stars away!

Potential major problem. No elevator. Must walk up one flight to get to reception. The possible walk up an additional flight or two to get to room. I did not have a problem. But many people might. The lack of elevator should be highlighted at booking. This is my only criticism and is the reason for my overall ranking being lower than the individual ratings.

Stayed there for a week vacation.

Loved the hotel, it was clean and comfortable. It was in the central location of everything that we were visiting. There are restaurants and shopping centers everywhere. Just two minor details. I wish there was an elevator and a microwave in the room. Other than that I would stay there again. Loved it.
