Bed and breakfast without the breakfast!

Pros: Comfortable bed
This was a very disappointing choice. The parking was offsite, the entrance was not readily accessible from an area where one could unload the car. There was no elevator, and the climb to the third floor was quite a challenge for a 75 year old! The "restaurant on site" was next door, and was a dingy bar that didn't open until after 11.00 am - and did not do breakfast. I would take at least one of the stars away!

Potential major problem. No elevator. Must walk up one flight to get to reception. The possible walk up an additional flight or two to get to room. I did not have a problem. But many people might. The lack of elevator should be highlighted at booking. This is my only criticism and is the reason for my overall ranking being lower than the individual ratings.

Stayed there for a week vacation.

Loved the hotel, it was clean and comfortable. It was in the central location of everything that we were visiting. There are restaurants and shopping centers everywhere. Just two minor details. I wish there was an elevator and a microwave in the room. Other than that I would stay there again. Loved it.

Brandwood Hotel in Glenwood, CA

Pros: Very clean rooms with nice bed linen. Very nice housekeeping staff. The room was comfortable but small. Nicely decorated and quiet.
Cons: A front door person instructing people were to park and also to help with bags. Put in a lift chair for older quests. Put up some signs
Location: Nice upscale area with many restaurants and shopping. A nice restaurant nearby for breakfast with a wonderful bakery and great coffee.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone over 50 years if not used to walking because too many steps equal to 4 stories of climbing if your room is on 2nd floor. No one at the rear door or front to help with bags. 35 steps up to front desk. No elevator. No information out front or back as to where to park.

Pros: Although the room was small, the beds were very comfortable and the sheets felt nice. The bathroom was very clean and attractively designed.
Cons: Disclose there is no elevator and suitcases need to be carried up. Provide friendlier, more informative staff at desk. Improve WiFi signal strength.
Location: Although we had to figure this out on our own, the Brandwood is 3 long blocks north from a very attractive open-air mall with restaurants and shops.
I picked the Brandwood because it was relatively close to several colleges I visited with my son. We did not have enough time to thoroughly research our hotel selection, and were limited by the fact we needed two beds, so overall hotel availability was not great. When we entered the property, there was a straight climb up of 21 stairs to the small reception desk. There was no A/C; it was hot; and I could not take my own suitcase up the stairs. I asked to see the room before commiting, and a fairly surly desk agent told me I could not cancel. (This was not what I had understood from Expedia when I had made the booking that morning... the choices were "Pay Now" or "Pay at Hotel," with the instruction to call Expedia if we wanted to cancel at no charge.) He took us (18 more steps up) to the room, opened the door, and stood in the doorway as I looked at the room and bathroom. He did not turn on the light or make any effort to show me the room amenities. Believing him that we had no option to back out; desperate to use the bathroom; and concerned we would not find a suitable alternative nearby, I agreed to stay. Then I learned about the parking. I had filtered the Expedia hotel results for hotels with free parking. At the Brandwood, you park across the alleyway, on the second level of a bank parking structure, and then have to carry your stuff down the steps. You cross the alley to the back entrance of the hotel, and input a code. Then it is 21 steps up.

Cons: Needs an elevator. I know it is historical and the hotel in original standing but really needs elevator
Very comfortable accommadations. Close Jax and Jazz. Portos bakery is down the street for breakfast. The bed is the best. Best night sleep.

Good location for downtown Glendale

Pros: Location. Nice staff. Strong wireless. Quiet. Good parking.
Cons: Nothing that is feasible. The hotel is old and the rooms fairly small, but nothing can be done about that.
Location: Downtown Glendale has tons of great restaurants and shops in a fairly cultural setting.
An older hotel (from the 1940s) that provides those who want to shop Glendale a prime location. Room was small but quaint and nicely outfitted. Exceptionally quiet. Wireless was strong and easy to access. This hotel is perfect for those whose primary goal is to visit the best part of Glendale. It is not luxurious, but overall I really liked my room. The hotel does not feature valet parking, but the parking was good and close to the hotel.

cancellation policy

I called the hotel regarding a cancellation and they accepted my request and offered to charge only one night. They did not refund the remainder of the nights as promised after multiple assurances. I'm going back to LA and not using this hotel.
