Always a good option

Posted 25-Nov-2014
Cons: Install a dropbox by the entrance for guests to return their parking passes after checkout. Save us that last needless climb up those long stairs.
I like this hotel a lot. It's a bit overpriced, and it obviously lacks things like a workout room. But, the parking is free, the wifi is free, they've got satellite TV, and the rooms have been refinished and are really quite comfortable. Plus, there are so many food options up and down the block -- and walking distance to the Americana mall shopping/theaters. The only real gripe -- and there's just no way around it -- are the steps at the entrance. On second thought, maybe it doesn't need a workout room -- because those stairs are quite the cardio challenge.

Nice hotel in a clean/safe part of Glendale.

Posted 20-Nov-2014
Pros: Everything except the t.v. It was too difficult to operate for this old guy.
Cons: Have the t.v. more user friendly. Way too much brain work and button pushing to get it just to operate, and change the channels.
Location: Location was excellent. Parking excellent. And Porto's fun place to eat/coffee.
I just really enjoyed my room and stay at the hotel. The rooms were clean and modern, excellent bed, T.V., air-conditioner and bathroom. The room was quiet overnight, the staff very friendly and accommodating. The staff was informative about the parking, coffee shop and directions to get back onto the 210 fwy. It was an easy stay. I would definitely stay again. John

Clean and quiet

Great place to stay, this is our 2nd time. My only complaint is that we requested a crib when making our booking but when we checked in the staff told us there were none available. They didn't offer any perks for the inconvenience. If we had known, we would have brought the pack n play. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience.

Old Hotel with no elevator

Posted 5-Nov-2014
Pros: I can not think of any thing
Cons: Tell the guests to expect to clime up. For me that is important because of back problems.
Location: The street is nice with shops and restaurants.
I did not know about the steep stairs up to the 2nd floor where the desk is. I did managed the stairs and the desk clerk went down to get my bag

Boutique hotel, centrally located.

Posted 5-Nov-2014
Location: Plenty of places to eat nearby and Glendale has a huge open air mall, complete with tram 10 minutes walk away.
No lift and lots of stairs. No restaurant, but lots of good places to eat nearby, including the fabulous Portos, which is a three minute walk away. I really liked the furnishings, which make a change to the utilitarian stuff you find in hotel chains. I was at the back of the hotel with a wall a couple of feet away, so very little natural light. Also, no way to open window, so noisy air conditioner which would drown out TV only source of fresh air. That said, on auto setting it didn't disturb my sleep. No noise from street to disturb me either and I spent a whole day writing there with no real discomfort.

Surprising hotel in the heart of Glendale

Posted 5-Nov-2014
With no street level lobby, I wasn't sure what to expect at the top of a long flight of stairs. I was delighted to find a quiet, well appointed hotel hidden on the second and third floors (first and second floors by European designation) of an old building in the heart of old Glendale, easy walking distance to the Americana and Galleria shopping centers. The Brandwood reminds me of a French "Hotel de Charm"...pleasing art, pleasant and knowledgeable staff, comfortable amenities...all on a well thought out human scale.

Pros: Very comfortable and extremely quiet. The room was nicely decorated and the beds were done with good quality bedding.
Location: Porto's Bakery and Cafe was a great breakfast spot. Damon's for very good prime rib dinner. Galleria shopping center had Nordstrom, Bloomingdales.
Great location with restaurants and shopping nearby.

Great location and food!

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pros: Friendly staff, historic design, european feel, cleanliness of rooms, and quiet.
Cons: nothing, perfect!
Location: The Alex Theatre for movies, ballet, dance. Porto's (cuban bakery) for sweet and savory pastries and sandwiches. The Americana & Glendale Galleria
I had a wonderful stay here! The location was great and close to all kinds of shopping, theatre shows, and diverse restaurants. The historic hotel itself had great decor and perfect sized rooms with very comfortable beds and clean design. I appreciated the help from the staff as they were very welcoming and never hesitated to offer help up the stairs or with rooms service whenever we requested it. I will definitely stay here again!
