Great place in Glendale, California

Posted 19-Jul-2014
Cons: Needs an elevator. I know it is historical and the hotel in original standing but really needs elevator
Very comfortable accommadations. Close Jax and Jazz. Portos bakery is down the street for breakfast. The bed is the best. Best night sleep.

Good location for downtown Glendale

Posted 17-Jul-2014
Pros: Location. Nice staff. Strong wireless. Quiet. Good parking.
Cons: Nothing that is feasible. The hotel is old and the rooms fairly small, but nothing can be done about that.
Location: Downtown Glendale has tons of great restaurants and shops in a fairly cultural setting.
An older hotel (from the 1940s) that provides those who want to shop Glendale a prime location. Room was small but quaint and nicely outfitted. Exceptionally quiet. Wireless was strong and easy to access. This hotel is perfect for those whose primary goal is to visit the best part of Glendale. It is not luxurious, but overall I really liked my room. The hotel does not feature valet parking, but the parking was good and close to the hotel.

cancellation policy

Posted 14-Jul-2014
I called the hotel regarding a cancellation and they accepted my request and offered to charge only one night. They did not refund the remainder of the nights as promised after multiple assurances. I'm going back to LA and not using this hotel.

Pros: Clean and location.
Cons: Air conditioning fan noisy.

Wonderful, no elevators but hotel near places we want to go. Free parking but no enough, end up parking in front of hotel and pay machine.

Great location and a beautiful room

Posted 23-Jun-2014
Pros: Location is central
Cons: lower the beds for the more senior traveler
Location: restaurants are close as is a live performance theatre
As many have pointed out, there is no elevator so you must ascend 30 steps to get from the street level to the lobby. Contrary to what some have said, we were offered help with our bags (although none was needed) and every staff member we passed greeted us with a good morning or afternoon. The room was nicely furnished. If there is one complaint it would be the height of the bed. I had to hop up to get on top of the mattress. I see that this may be a desirable decorating feature, but, for us older folks, it is not very practical. Overall it is a lovely place and we would surely use it again for an overnight in Glendale.

Nice hotel, not so nice staff.

Posted 21-Jun-2014
Pros: Clean, strong A/C
Cons: Better front desk staff for the graveyard shift
We checked in late, about 11:30pm. 2 flights of stairs and no elevator... After checking in I had to pull the car around back and park on the second floor of the parking structure. With the luggage I had to lug it down the parking garage stairway, then up 2 narrow flights of stairs inside the hotel. If I had bad knees, was elderly or even handicap it would've been a no go. All the staff had left for the evening except for the front desk person. Upon checking in I asked for a couple extra pillows, he said he would check and let me know. 20 minutes later I called down and he said he had no access to housekeeping where the spare pillows were kept. He said that they didn't trust him with keys... Seriously?!? Anyway, it was clean and well maintained but the crazy stairs and pillow situation will not bring me back. Customer service has a long way to go.

I always enjoy staying there when I visit my daughter. It's centrally located to shopping; dining and walking distance to the neighborhood were she lives. Porto's bakery is a couple doors down and the Jazz club down stairs always seems to have good music. Its not a Hotel for Families. More appropriate for Professionals and young adults. I love the atmosphere.

Pros: I liked the neighborhood. It was a lively and attractive area. The proximity to Occidental College helped us make it to our activities in a timely
Cons: I am sure people complain about the stairs, but they didn't bother us. The room was small, but I expected that.
Location: Occidental College, Pasadena.
The staff was courteous and upgraded our room. It was clean and nicely furnished.

It's Not All That.

Posted 1-Jun-2014
Pros: The location was prime. The wedding we attended was at the Beyond The Stars Palace, a club/theater only half a block up Brand. It's why we chose it.
Cons: More insulation in the walls and floors would be nice. The noise level in our room (on the front of the hotel) was annoying. Especially for the price.
Location: Brand is the main drag. There's lots of excellent restaurants, clubs, a pool hall, salons, a spa, a mall, all within walking distance.
They bill themselves as a boutique hotel and go out of their way to mention their environmental friendliness. The rooms are small, I don't know if that's what boutique means. There are no amenities like a pool or exercise room, there's your room and that's it. There is a posh waiting area near the front desk, with a TV on all the time. We had the unfortunate room location of right next to the front desk, on the other side of a very thin wall from the loud office staff. The only good thing about the location was the nearness to the microwave. The water/ ice dispenser was dripping the entire time, wasting untold gallons of water. There was no separate recycling bin, I was told to just put everything in the trash. Maybe they have someone sort their garbage, but it seems if you're going to tout yourself as being all eco friendly you should at least have a recycling bin. The location on the front of the hotel meant that our room was right over the bar downstairs, the live music traveled right through the floor. The ceiling was also thin and squeaky, we had to request the front desk to ask the folks upstairs to stop jumping around. The air conditioner was very loud, making it a bit hard to fall asleep. There was no counter space in the bathroom, just a small shelf, and only one hook to hang clothes from. The shower was the highlight of the room, nice and full spray, no low-flow there. All the stairs were almost too much for us, I could see how it could be for some.
