“Easy, comfortble and affordable”
Third time at Downtowner and as always was a good hub for getting around whilst providing a comfortable roof over our heads - hot breakfast always a winner too!
“simple yet satisfying”
the location is slap bang in the middle of everything.. the metro is 3 mins away.. easy access to buses and metro. The staff were so lovely, the manager gave me tips on where to go and how to get there and what he recommended. The room has all you need if you just want simple.. bed, TV and shower.. there is an outdoor heated pool which was so good. You are a stones throw away from the walk of fame and Chinese theatre.. you can see the Hollywood sign on your walk as well...the area at night is safe but i would suggest going out in a group or with another person...there is a Ralph's Supermarket, Starbucks, bank, subway sandwich shop and many more amenties that you will need. Overall an awesome hotel and location. Would stay again next time i'm in LA.
“Great Place to Stay”
This was a great place to stay, it was close to everything and the owners were really friendly. The rooms were comfortable and everything was in great condition. They also had free breakfast in the mornings that was always hot and ready. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants something near the Hollywood Blvd.
“HOLLYWOOD DOWNTOWNER HOTEL - WHAT A GEM”
I had a great experience staying at the Hollywood Downtowner Hotel. Loved the retro exterior with the classic neon sign, and the well-tended courtyard with pool. My room had a great view of the Griffith Park Observatory. Hotel location is superb - slightly removed from the craziness of Hollywood and Highland, but easily accessible by foot, bus, or underground. Great local neighbourhood with facilities. And best of all incredibly friendly and helpful owners. (A bonus - included plentiful breakfast at Transylvania Restaurant next door.)
“Second time here, still a fine place to stay”
I'd been here in January, and unexpectedly found myself back again in September. My room this time was even bigger and better than the one I had before. The free breakfast, available in the lobby, is a real convenience - just what you need to start off your day of Hollywood sightseeing.
“Great location and complimentary breakfast was excellent”
Location was a 5 minute drive to the main area of Hollywood and was located just of the 101 freeway which made it very convenient for us to travel in our rented car to where we wanted to go. Would recommend this to others that are looking for a budget place in a good location
“Enjoyable stay”
We found this hotel on Expedia and were delighted with it. Recommend it to one and all as a convenient, pleasant and economical way to enjoy Hollywood.
“Good value for little money”
We didn't book in advance and had difficulties in finding a convenient place to stay. The first three night we stayed in Santa Monica and payed more than twice as much. During our trip throught California we also stayed in luxurious places and this was the cheapest place we had on our journey. But we would book it again - of course one cannot expect a five class hotel room, but the room was more or less the same as all the other rooms we had before and: it was clean, the breakfast was a very positive surprise and - not to forget - the owners are extremely nice and helpful. We didn't regret our time there!

I will come back to the US someday. I enjoyed LA.
“Customer service above and beyond”
We initially chose this hotel based on price, location and reviews. We were very glad we did. The owners could not have been more helpful or accommodating if they tried. Our plans kept changing and we needed access to both Internet and Fax at short notice and awkward hours. The owners met our every need with no fuss and offered suggestions to help us overcome our problems. As in other reviews the decor is dated but it is in the midst of a makeover. The rooms are good size, clean, comfortable and have all the basics. They are not luxurious but well worth the money.
