“Better than expected and great value”
I was on a budget and was expecting to have to put up with some discomfort and compromises, but I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The service was great. The room was surprisingly comfortable, and there were nice touches like free bottled water.

Very clean and quite rooms. The hotel is centrally located to all of Pasadena activities and eateries. We plan to return to the Holiday Inn Express Pasadenda on our next stay.

Room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately it was not convenient to where I had to be. Not your fault - mine !
“LA in the rain!”
The hotel was just what we required. It may not appear to be in the best of areas but there was certainly some character in its environs. There was plenty of parking space and the room was fine although there was no fridge - we made our own by filling the ice bucket from the ice machine. We found excellent restaurants and a Ralphs just a short walk away, similarly the metro stop was within walking distance (although there is free parking there). Breakfast was typical HI express. THere were a lot of other guests on vacation, quite a few with young children in tow so it was a nice atmosphere.
“Pasadena Option”
I was pleasantly surprised by the Holiday Inn Express. We live in Pasadena & our house was being repaired for over 1 mo, so we tried hotels and had stayed at the Hilton for awhile when we tried the Holiday Inn Express. Beds were very comfortable w/ multiple pillows (in pillow slips embroidered "soft" or "firm"). Bath was a larger than expected & the shower had good water pressure. My issue was that it was too small for a room w/ 2 double beds. There were only 2 of us but only space for 1 suitcase. The table was small & no room to sit at it and see the TV. The A/C unit was in the same corner so you had to sit w/ the A/C on your back. If it was only 1 bed for 1 person it would have been fine. It was cramped for two & the idea of more than 2 in that room is mind boggling. They have a very nice breakfast. It is serve yourself, from 6 am to 10 am. There were lots of selections at 7:30- 8 AM but at 9:30 the next AM things were sparse. This hotel is off of Colorado Blvd - but too far on the East end of Pasadena. You cannot walk anywhere that you'd want to see in Pasadena from this hotel. If you visit L.A. you really have to have a car & if for some reason you are not in a car you can forget it. The hotel is at the back of a set of business & store fronts. Its not an area you would go if you were visiting. It is Clean & comfortable for 1 - 2 people. It was also very quiet w/great black out curtains that pulled only one way - (no split of light in the middle, which is great).

the hotel is very well maintained and the breakfast buffet was small but had the necessary cereal, bagels, juice, yogurt and coffee to start the day off. we found the location to be a little far but at the same time we had to travel to see all the attractions so it gave us the opportunity to really get to know the city and all the surrounding communities. we had so much fun- will definitely be back!!
