“impressed with great value”
the place was clean and well maintained, convenient and free parking via a permit the front desk gives you in an underground structure. pretty decent breakfast place downstairs too with very cheap prices. we had 3 guests in a room with 2 beds so it was definitely worth the price. it's not a luxury hotel of course but thats not the point. the only thing was the towels were a bit thin and they forgot to restock the bathroom with shampoo, but other than that i can't complain given the value of what you get for the price. good experience!
“Nice Place”
Very clean. Diner was great. Would of liked alittle more info from desk staff regarding local attractions.Sandra
“Nothing not to like”
What a refreshing LA experience and high value for the $. I stayed here with my daughters for an LA shopping and sightseeing trip and we all loved this hotel. We felt perfectly safe and enjoyed the retro vibe. We started each day with a delicious alfresco breakfast at the adjoining Swingers Cafe, kind of a healthy/diner hybrid with a mouth-watering menu. The proximity to Swingers will be a big reason why I stay here for future business trips to LA instead of a fancier Sunset Strip hotel. Also, for thrifters, there's an excellent Goodwill Store just a block down the street.
“OK hotel in close lot of things”
Staff nice, hotel good, very large rooms, some people (not me) did hear sound from swinger resturant. Walking distance to farmers market and large showing center with Macys and shops, very good restuarants in walking distance e.g. the little door (on thrid, 10 min) and Provedance (40 min walk)
“Fortement conseillé”
Bien situé, quartier calme et sûr. De plus, un pti resto est accolé à l'hôtel (très pratique et peu cher), pour ceux qui sont plus courageux en remontant Beverly Bld vers Downtown vous trouverez un excellent Italien. Transport en commun à proximité (fairfax) pour rejoindre Hollywood, Donwtown, Santa Monica (mais il faut être patient). Bon rapport qualité prix avec le parking gratuit.
“Very Nice”
I went for a wedding over a long weekend and couldn't have been happier with the location and general character of this hotel. The bathroom was recently updated and very nice, almost elegant. There is a very good diner under the corner of the hotel for very convenient breakfasts or late night meal. The hotel was located within walking distance of two different mall markets and a farmer's market which were all great. The hotel does offer WiFi for a fee that I felt was high for my short stay, but I was often able to pick up other networks at no charge. In the end, for the price, this hotel is well worth it.
“this place rocks”
this is a hip 50s joint with very friendly staff. it's hip and spotlessly clean. i guess people with very conventional expectations might be disappointed - my TV was small and crappy and there were rock stars in the pool one morning - but if you want something a bit different with a great location go for it. and it's not THAT different, it's fine for kids etc (the rock stars were very polite and not drunk) it's just got a hip feel to it. did i say hip enough times? the diner downstairs is cool too. even the cops who stopped by were friendly.
“Basic Hotel, very well located”
Older hotel very well maintain. The room was very clean and close to many attractions.
“Old School and Fun! Excellent Management!”
While the room is pretty basic, the ambiance of a '60's motel is all there. You can't beat the location if you are doing all the typical tourist attractions (the Starline Tour bus picked us up there too.). For the size of the room the bathroom is HUGE with a shower that is at least 6 feet wide. A very generous number of fresh towels were provided daily. One caveat; our room had no dresser so we had to fold clothes and put them on the shelf in the (large) closet. Having a microwave and fridge was a big plus! I can't say enough good things about the manager. He was so friendly and helpful, as were the other staff. The surrounding area is funky and cool and we (a couple in our 50's) felt very safe and comfortable walking around. The Grove and Farmer's Market are within walking distance and we ate there frequently. Swingers Coffee Shop in the hotel also had GREAT food. (Try the hamburgers and the french toast). All said this is a GREAT VALUE and a unique place.
