“Local flavor that's a wonderful way to go”
We absolutely loved this hotel and the hotel staff. It's very simple, but quite comfortable. The bathroom was so clean and comfortable (once we got used to working separate hot and cold faucets). There is no elevator so you must be prepared to walk up some stairs, but it's a lovely older row home and you feel as though this is your very own flat in a terrific neighborhood. There are 2 Tube stations within a block or two. There's a great, local shopping including the infamous "Boots" drug store right down the block. Whatever we needed (or forgot to bring with us) we could easily find right there in the little town. It's also a short cab ride to the main train station. And right next store (adjoining the building) is a larger hotel with a breakfast that is a great way to start the day. We were up early and home late so didn't care about the tiny size of the TV. We wanted a warm room and comfortable bed, and that's what we got. Would go back again in a heartbeat!!!
“adorble petit hotel "so british"”
un peu desuet mais tellement Anglais!!! accueil adorable, quartier "so chic" prix ultra raisonnable bref une bonne adresse a retenir
“Brilliant hotel!”
For three girls on a shopping and sightseeing weekend away, the hotel was superb. We felt safe to walk back from the tube station at night and it is conveniently located only 5 mins taxi ride from Paddington station. We flew down from Manchester and got the Heathrow express straight into Paddington. The nearest tube station was Bayswater, which is just 5 mins walk around the corner from the hotel. However, we tended to use Queensway which is 10 mins walk from hotel, as it is on the Central line - only four stops to Oxford Circus and handy for changing to Piccadilly and Leicester Square. Our room was just what we needed as a base for exploring London. There were three single beds, which were very comfortable, although not much space to walk between, and a good sized bathroom. The extra bonus was the fridge in the wardrobe, which ensured we could keep our wine cold. We would definately recommend the breakfast at the Kensington's sister hotel next door, which is a Best Western. For 6.50GBP you can sample full English and 5GBP for a continental. All in all fantastic value for money and would definately recommend the Kensington Gardens Hotel to anyone wanting a clean, friendly, budget hotel in a well located area.
“Great Hotel stay”
The hotel is in Bayswater, which is zone 1 and has tube stops for the Central line and the Circle line within a five minute walk. We arrived to the hotel several hours before check in, hoping to drop off our bags, but we were greeted by name and our room was ready. We were given a triple instead of the double that was paid for because hotel staff didn't want us to have to climb all the stairs in the building if we didn't have to. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Security was great- you had to ring a doorbell which connected to CCTV in order to get in and there was a safe at the front desk for passports, etc. The shower had decent pressure and was nice and hot- but the shape of the shower head made you feel a bit like you were drowning.... That was the only negative to the room, aside from that it was nice and big- even a big bathroom for London standards!
“cozy friendly hotel”
Hotel is small but clean and well run. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is very centrally located with great access to the Underground. The shower had great water pressure. The only draw back is that there is no elevator so, if you have a lot of luggage it will require hauling up stairs. Some rooms share a toilet. Our room had the toilet in the room. If you need to have your own toilet, verify before booking.
“Would return here”
This was a really great find. I have previously stayed in Bayswater and find the proximity to two different underground stations on different lines, as well as buses along Oxford St a real bonus. It is also close to a large shopping centre and a bustling street with many cheap restaurants. Although the room was on the small side, the hotel was VERY reasonably priced and I am sure that the size of the room is standard for London. The only downside was the creaking floorboards above. Despite that we would HIGHLY recommend this hotel.
“Great”
Great hotel, lady at the front desk was extremely helpful. Looking forward to going back there soon.
“Small, but secure and friendly”
We stayed at the hotel over spring break. I chose it for economy and based on other traveler reviews. It was a very good value. We felt secure and the hotel is well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying there for anyone on a budget that doens't need the "perks" that an expensive hotel offers.
“A Great Little Hotel”
No complaints here. The Concierge was very nice, polite and helpful. The room was small, but very clean and well laid out. The shower was a little small, but very clean. We North Americans are used to a little more space to throw our stuff about in. Despite this, I did not feel particularly cramped. The complimentary continental breakfast was in the dining room of the hotel next door. It was perfectly fine . . . croissant, butter, jam, toast, cold-cuts and cheese . . . tea or coffee . . . a selection of juices; all in all it was a pretty good meal to start the day with. The location is great. Bayswater tube station is really close by; it is on the Circle Line . . . very useful. Five minutes walk north is Westbourne Grove, a great shopping street . . . coin laundromat, internet cafes, a very good organic grocer/cafe . . . As there is a small fridge in the hotel room, I stocked up on victuals etc. etc. . . . very convenient. Whitely's shopping centre is a block or so away. Among other things, it houses a pretty big book store and a first run cineplex. Great little hotel . . . great location in a great city
“excellent position”
fantastically priced hotel on 2 tube lines. small as usual for london but clean and excellent happy hotel management that gave us earlier than normal check-in. floors were slightly creaky so ask for the higher floors.cant beat it for the price!
