Poor service, good location

Posted 2-Jun-2012 on Hotels.com
The room was clean and the location was good, but those are the only main positives. They charge an extra 3% for paying by credit card, which is not stated anywhere on the hotels.com site. They also are not clear that breakfast is extra, despite advertising themselves as a B&B. The desk staff (3 different people) are surly and unhelpful. One did not write down our taxi reservation for the airport, with disaster averted only because we double-checked. Another did not give us good directions to the tube station - just said "that way, you can't miss it." The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable and the carpet threadbare. The toiletries are poor - combined bath and hair gel wtih no shampoo or conditioner.

Promised wifi connection rarely functioned. Inadequate explanation on query. 4th floor room without a lift and up narrow staircase was a challenge otherwise clean and quite quiet.

St. George Hotel in London, UK

Posted 23-Jun-2011 on Hotels.com
First we were relocated to a "similar" 4 star apt. in the same street that could be rated at a most 0 star, because they were overbook at the hotel- the UEFA soccer cup final was in town and easy to figure that they inflated the rate for last minute clients and throw us and other in this low quality apartments- we were not the only ones in this situation. For two days we had to stay in a 8'x15' room with a glass door shower in the room, with no service at all. For this kind of accommodation and practice I don't understand why they are in the system among with other respectable hotels and I strongly recommend to be review by the persons in charge and save others from eventual nightmares in the future. My advise to all, stay away from this hotel by all means. I have pictures from the room to show what a 4 star similar accommodation looks like for the management of this "Motel" .

take a pass on this one

Posted 3-Jun-2011 on Hotels.com
What a disappointment! We arrived at this hotel expecting much better. This is an old hotel, which could be quaint, but instead is shabby. The carpet in hallway/stairs is threadbare in many places. There is no elevator, so bags must be dragged up several flights of stairs - by the guest, as there is no staff to help. The reception staff was a mixed bag - one very helpful young man and one rude young woman. We were only there for 2 nights, thankfully. Our room faced the street (3rd floor) and was so noisy that with the windows open, my husband and I had to shout at each other - and the room was small. To take a call, he went into the bathroom, and still couldn't hear it all. With the windows closed, it was much quieter, but there was no source of air, so became quite warm. The mattress, blanket and bedspread are circa 1980 and have been well worn since that time. By no means a 4-star accomodation.

London Fun

Posted 29-Apr-2011
During our two week Europe vacation we so enjoyed LONDON. Our hotel was centeral located to all Public Transportion that made it easy for us to get around. It was nice and crozy I would surely stay there again. Plus the price was reasonable.
