“Loved the So Sienna!”
I stayed at the So Sienna in January for a week- recommended to my by other family members who have stayed there off and on for the past few months. It's a lovely little inn- great if you like privacy. As I would be there visiting a relative in the hospital, the kitchenette was perfect so I could hit the Tesco market in the tube station and cook my own meals. I had done some research, and knew it wasn't marked from the street, so I advise using Yell.com to look at aerial maps to find it. The easiest way to get there from LHR is not by the Heathrow express but by hopping on the Picadilly line and get off at Hammersmith station- a 10 minute ride. It was convenient to everything in the city and I'd stay there again in a hearbeat. One note: bring a travel alarm clock!
“Right at home in Hammersmith”
Close to underground, buses and shopping. Modern facilities with good heating and hot water(even in the snowy winter weather we experienced during our stay), very helpful staff
“Talk about a home away from home - I'd happily move in permanently!!”
This is an apart-hotel which means it's essentially a set of small appartments which can be booked like a hotel (on a nightly basis). The neighbouring hotels looked a bit shabby, but the front garden at So Sienna was nicely manicured and this gave me a bit of hope that I might have made a good choice. The reception area did not exactly inspire confidence in terms of its appearance-- although the check-in staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The stairway up to my room similarly didn't exactly look flash. So it was quite a surprise then to open the door to my room and find what was without doubt the NICEST set of rooms I've ever had the pleasure to stay in. Aside from the bedroom there was also a living room/kichenette and two bathrooms (one ensuite for the bedroom, and the other ajoining the living room/kitchenette-- for if you have guests over.) The furnishing was well chosen and comfortable. The living room and bedroom both well lit. and the windows could be opened to provide good ventilation. Unfortunately, I was only there for a one night stay. When I checked out I asked the manager if they did discounted weekly/ monthly rates... because honestly, I liked it so much I was already thinking it would make a great base in London for a longer visit! I'm actually reluctant to submit this review as I'm afraid it might cause them to be sold out, or be far more expensive, next time I come to town... but I've never felt any place deserved a good review more!
“Great place to stay in London”
Only a couple of hundred meters from nearest tube. And the rooms have lots of space (which is rare in London). Overall a very nice place to stay... however, its difficult to locate. Don't go looking for a sign which says So Sienna, because there is none :) I stayed in London for business, but its certainly a place i can recommend for families aswell.
“Good solid option for the Hammersmith area”
Not like the pictures that they put on all the websites (well our room certainly wasn't), but great value for money through Expedia, and as we were there for a conference (can't think of many other reasons for heading that way other than perhaps a visit to the Apollo !)and also had our baby son with us, it worked out well. Staff were fab, very friendly and knowledgeable - especially about parking and takeaway options. Only gripes I had were that there was no oven - only a microwave and a hob, which it would have been handy to know in advance, and that the tv reception was pretty rubbish - only really getting channels 1 and 2. I think the descriptions of satellite tv are misleading. Wi-fi is available but fairly slow, so don't rely on it! The pub opposite looked lovely, but we didn't get a chance to enjoy it whilst there. For us, it was just what we needed - more space than a hotel room, with the facilities we needed for our little one as well.
“Proceed with caution”
On arrival my wife and I were shown to a tiny room in the attic with a sofa-bed! When I protested I was told that I had booked a 'studio room'. Well, actually it was called 'executive studio' online, and it looked nothing like an apartment-hotel room. After I'd made a fuss, we were shown to another apartment, with proper bedroom and a separate sitting room. So in the end we were more than satisfied, because this was clearly an 'upgrade'. Before you go, try to find out whether you have a proper bed and a couple of armchairs in the room, which is the least I would expect in an 'apart-hotel'.
